My girlfriend and I are approaching the six-month anniversary, which is a record for me. I want to give her something special, something she'd go ga-ga over......

But I don't know what to get. It has to be especially worthy of her seeing as how we got together on Valentine's Day, two weeks after her birthday.....

Can anyone give me a tip on what to give her? I seriously am not used to this kind of thing.

Nothing compares with the paperweight as a bad gift. To me, there's no better way than a paperweight to express to someone, "I refused to put any thought into this at all." And where are these people working that the papers are just blowing right off their desks anyway? Is their office screwed to the back of a flatbed truck going down the highway or something? Are they typing up in the crow's nest of a clipper ship? What do you need a paperweight for? Where's the wind coming from?

That's my advice to you... well, not mine really.

That was pretty good wristcutter. You definitly got a laugh out of me, no matter if it was your intent or not. :)

Me and my girlfriend just passed our second month, though I'm not sure she realized it.

My advice for you, of money is not an option, take her out to a nice restaurant. Then afterward maybe to a movie or play.
If she really isn't into the movie theater scene, rent a few movies and watch them together.
I know that for my sixmonth I'm going to get her... Oh yeah, I can't talk about that stuff anymore. She's coming to OB soon.

Well, seeing as I am girl, which is probably a pretty big plus here, I think I can help.

Try to be original in your approach. Instead of getting her a card, write her a loving note. You obviously know by now what she's interested in, right? Of course you do. If she's into hoseback riding, get her a nice trunk to hold all her stuff in. If she's into painting, get her really good brushes. (You'd be suprised how expensive they might be!) You don't have to get a girl jewelry to make her swoon; just the knowing that you were actually listening about her riding lesson from last Tuesday will make her happy. Just be sure to include a rose or two. ^_~

Hope that helps!

As much as I'd like to take credit for that, it's from one of Jerry Seinfeld's monologues.

Oh and don't give her cash, no matter how much... apparently you can't do that.

Yes, you can. I'd love cash from my boyfriend...just as long it was a lot of it. ^____^ Clothing is expensive these days.

Well that's odd. Elaine was pissed when Jerry gave her $182 for her birthday... and even moreso when George gave her $91 *laughs* So maybe it doesn't apply to all women.

*watches too much Seinfeld*

Umm.....first off, I'd never think of getting her a paperweight. Second.....since WHEN do people SERIOUSLY take Seinfeld's dating advice???? Third....I'm planning on horseback riding and then a dinner at Bennigan's.......I'm just not sure I have enough cash for it....

What? That's a terrible idea! Sexual devices are strictly a one year thing.
Actually if I gave my girlfriend a device, I think she'd slap me... Then ask me where I got it.

okay, first , as being a girl i would think that getting money would be bad on my boyfriends part because that would kinda say to me that my boyfriend knows absulutly nothing about me and doesnt have the first clue as to what to give me-thats just my opinion.
second, no dont give her a paperweight
third your idea is great so far Legacy, if u dont have enough cash then go to a resterant thats still very nice-just maybe a little cheaper
lastly, maybe a gift she can keep-necklace, a lil' statue that means something special, rose/roses/flowers, sunchatcher, or maybe even a gift certifacate to someplace you know she likes to go
i dunno-i cant think of anything else at the moment.....
