Can't Log Out

I have no idea if this is a problem with my computer or OB. Either way it doens't really matter to me, because I don't need to switch screen names. When I hit log out, it doesn't let me log out. It says all cookies cleared, but when I return to the boards I'm still logged in. Has anyone had a problem with this in the past, or does anyone currently have a problem with it?

*raises hand* I do! Same as with XeEmO I don't ever "have" to log out, but a friend was over about a week ago and we figured that she couldn't check her PMs because I couldn't log out.

Gah... 'tis a shifty business, internet cookies... *muches one just to spite them* O_o;;

The first thing to check would be whether you have it set in your profile to log you in automatically whenever you're on OB. If you have that on, then that's probably it. Just check in the Edit Options section of your profile; it's the second option from the top.

At the top of your windows browser should be a menu which says "tools", select it and drop down the menu to "internet options" In the general tab there should be a sub section labelled "Temporary Internet Files", you should see a button there which says "clear cookies" Simply select this, and your cookies will be gone.

That's Internet explorer anyway, If you have something else, like Mozilla or Opera, the I don't know, I guess they're relatively similar. Alternatively you can go into your windows folder located on the Hard drive, and find the system 32 folder, there should be a cookies folder inside it, clear it as if you were deleting other junk. cookies look like and act like text files. You can even open them and look at the code through notepad.

Thought I should just add that you have to close whatever app uses a file before you can delete it. So, if you are on OB, and you do what Shinji Ikari said to do, you won't remove the OB cookie. Make sure you have IE on a website whose cookie you could care less about (such as google), and then follow Shinji Ikari's instructions.
