Excersice/Workout?

Anyone at there in the OB world that works out/has a work out program they follow. I do, only in the past 2 or so months have I been working out. Not that I am active in any sports, but I do just to better myself.

I do a 45mins to an hour workout every other day. I hear, from some good sources, this is the best way to get results. Usually doing 4 sets of about 15 reps each per excersice. And usually do 2 or 3 excercises per body part, arms, chest, etc. The only equipment that I have are dumbbells and an excercise ball, I would hope to have more, but the stuff that I do have is usable.

And I have also been intaking more protein, since for people that don't know.......protein is key in muscle building. Breakfast I usually eat eggs and sausage/bacon. Lunch is usally is sub sandwich. For dinner its some sort of meal that has meat, chicken, steak, etc, as well as other things like veggies and such. In that day I like to get in one protein shake.

So to reiterate my question, anyone workout/ excercise on a regular basis, if so what do you do? And are you also on some sort of diet, eating more protein, less carbs and such?

I used to exercise a lot more than I do now. At the moment, I do a few things before I go to bed (sit-ups, push-ups and weights, mostly). But that's about it.

I've never had any problem when it comes to diet. That is, I don't put on weight easily at all. And it doesn't take me very long to build up muscular strength. My dad's like that too...he doesn't exercise at all, and his diet isn't great, but he's never had a weight problem.

I'd like to start going to the gym regularly (there's one right down the end of my street), but I just don't have the time or the money for it. Maybe one day I'll do it. lol

I usually run. Since I'm in Cross Country and Track, I run a lot. I find it fun sometimes, especially when there's cool scenery to look at as you run by. That's why track sucks majorly XD

I also train in martial arts which is a form of exercise, I suppose. It's all fun until my arm hurts from punching the kick-boxing bag too much. Then it's even more fun!

Cast a weathered eye over my latest post in Today's Forum and you'll need no further explenation. But if you're apathetic like everyone else, I'll just say it now. I teach Antichrist children how to dance ballet and do tap. That's about 15 hours a week at 10 dollars an hour....frittering my life away. Doing stupid stuff involving "Going on a bear hunt," "Miss Puffy," and my all time favorite, "The Pretzel Song."

I worked 4 hours today, straight dancing. And I'll do more tomorrow. And Thursday. Wendsday is when I try to live. Friday is my serious dance practice with my troupe. And Saturday is when I sell coffee on my feet for two hours at the Farmer's market.

I am not underworked thank you very much. I'm not overly muscular, but I'm not a shrimp either. As for food, I eat what I love, and lots of it. But I'm also a health nut, so I'm like...5 percent body fat. I eat alot of carbs, eggs in my soup or with my breakfast, and I can't get enough fruit/juice. So yes. I'm a healthy person.

Not my fault. In addition, I stretch and do a modern version of tai chi.

It's neat that someone posted this thread, because I plan on being extra committed to my exercise program this month. I like exercising. I've seen some pretty good results so far.

My workout typically lasts a little over two hours. Which, will probably change once the semester begins. Usually, I warm up by playing basketball for about twenty minutes. It's a great way to get the blood going and loosen up. Next, I try to do an hour's worth of EFX, which helps me burn one-thousand calories and tone both my gluteal and leg muscles. So, it saves me from concentrating too much on squats and such.

From there, I either work on my abdominal area or lift weights. On the average, I'm able to work on the former more because you're not supposed to concentrate on the same area every day. So, getting the most out of lifting definitely requires a lot of patience and planning.

My diet isn't too strict. I just don't drink soda, eat snacks, or fast foods. Plus, I've never been a drinker--and drinking contributes to gaining a lot of carbohydrates. Beer, for example, is one of the ultimate carb sources. Hence, the dreaded "beer belly." Most of my old classmates seem to have grown considerably large bellies thanks to alcohol.

I need to do more cardio before each workout. It seems like my workout is short, but I rely on speed. I go from one excercise to the next, according to my dad(who used to be an amateur bodybuilder) is the best way.

Yah people that focus on one body part a day don't get much outta that workout. Because I workout everyother day, and workout every part of my body, I allow one day to rest them, which is good. If you workout one part a day, then you are resting that bodypart for too long to really build muscle. So you have to keep your muscles "lit" up everyday. But this may be all common knowledge to some/many.

Charles, do you work out at a gym? Not at home what I mean.

Last year I tried to work out a lot. I didn't really get anywhere and I ended up quitting. Most of this year though I've been playing DDR. Playing that game for an hour is about the equivalent to running for an hour.

I take Capoeira. A Brazilian rital/dance. Its like break dance fighting but theres a lot more than just throughing kicks. Its very easy to learn and very hard to master.

I usually train in my house, do push ups, and sit ups, throughing kicks, ect.. I dont use weights at all because I dont have any.

i go to a gym with my dad. we do 30 minutes of cardio first and then work the rest of our bodies. ive been going to the gym for about 2 1/2 years. i also ride my bike every day. i used to plat soccer and football, but i had to give them up for personal reasons. the gym has built up a lot of muscle on me and im very happy about that.

as for diet, i dont have one. im trying not to eat as much and not drink as many sodas. ive never been on a diet and dont really want to, but i probably should.

I'm quite sure this is true, and I would not encourage drinking either. But one of my friends (although I think he was a little tipsy at the time) told me that he'd examined a beer bottle and a soda can, and according to him, soda had three times the calories. ... I'm too lazy to go check.

Anyway.

I'm in okay shape, especially for all the strenuous sitting in front of the computer that I do, but this summer I've been supposedly trying to work out every other day, alternating between swimming and running. I tried to lift weights and stuff like that for a while, too, but that slowly fell off ... [grumbles] I should get back to that.

I've completely given up on diets because I just love food too much :) So, I've also kind of given up on ever losing weight, which is okay. The only problem is that my boyfriend is ridiculously skinny (kind of like James and Change, he never gains weight, but unlike them he never works out ...). The last time he weighed himself he was like five pounds more than I am. If he ever weighs less than I do I will have serious self-confidence problems. :p

I work out, without fail, four times a week (usually Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri or Sat). I hit the gym pretty hard, and lately I have been on a cardio kick because my diet isn't that great. I usually begin by seeing how fast I can bike three miles, this helps to raise my metabolism as well as loosen up the collogen in my knees (I have horrible knees). I have my workout broken into segments; on Tuesday I lift chest and back, on Wed. I lift shoulders and arms, on Thurs. I lift legs and on Friday or Saturady I do an upper body workout. I usually lift for about an hour and a half to two hours depending an the day. I follow up with a half hour jog/walk (I'm too out of shape to run for a half hour :p) I also do abs two or three times a week, although I've been trying to work those a bit harder lately.

I work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and then play tennis friday and saturday. Do nothing on Sunday. As for the reps, it depends how you want your muscles to look. If you want to be more toned, you do more reps with less weight, if you want to look like those muscle giants you do less reps with more weight.

I love going to the gym. I can run 10km in under 50mins, but I also use other cardio machines like the bike and the stepper. I do weights, and although I can lift a fair bit, I only do it in a class 3 times a week, otherwise it gets boring. I like the speed of the cardio machines. I do a body balance class twice a week, which is kinda a mixture of yoga and pilates. I've also got my kick boxing classes. When it's Summer, I'm always swimming or walking along the beach so I guess that is also excercise.

I try to maintain a healthy eating habits with a slip up on the chocolate and redskins and nougat every now and then.... otherwise it's old fashioned traditional home cooked meals. I eat out once in a blue moon and i'm very picky with my food. I don't each much bread or starchy food like rice or spaghetti cause they make you feel ugh! I'm more of a meat, seafood and vegies girl.

Man I have to work out everyday. If I don't I feel really slow and tired, basically no energy. I do a little martials arts so I practice that about 3 times a week plus I run a couple miles at least 3 times a week so that gets in good cardio, but I do situps, crunches, pushups, pullups everyday and I use to do weights until I bought a Jackie Chan Cableflex and to me it's better than free weights. But whatever I do, I do it hard, as hard as I can. I work out until I can't move, till every muscle in my body hurts and is numb and limbs feel like they weight a ton ( doing that really gets that definition). Right now I think I'm working hardest on my chest cause I was practically born with very little pectorals and thats a real hard place for me to get results. I don't try to get all bulky ( I couldn't even if I wanted to) I am a naturally a lean guy , a leaner built dude, considering I'm only 5'1 . But yeah I have to workout/exercise cause I also like it and also I feel drained and I don't like that.

A while ago I was very into running and getting fit. I was slightly overweight, not destined to death from obesity, only slightly. Though I've got a big build about me, so the exercise I was doing wasn't doing much, except for losing a bit of the gut I had. I wasrunning from half-an-hour when I started, until I was running for an hour, and I could keep running. I've actually stopped now, and it'll take a fair bit to get back into routine. Though I'm working on it, I'm watching what I eat again, because that was the main reason I was overweight in the first place. I'm planning to run everyday again, soon, which will take me to a fitter level, hopefully.

Eating, watching what I eat, wasn't such a big deal to me. I was eating heaps of food, junk food raked up to half of it. I started my running routine. With it, I was doing exercises, for the thighs and stomach. They weren't working very well at all, so I gave them up. I kept running, and that got me going. When I had been running for a month or so, I was losing weight. I was still eating the food that I usually did, though less of it. Alot less. That helped.

My buddy and I took a similar class in college...it was like going to heaven without dying. We were the only two guys in a class room full of lithe, attractive young women (I still have dreams of the class). The only downside was that I am about as flexible as a brick wall. I would leave the class feeling a though I had been quartered...but it was worth it...
