.hack//sign... boring?

.hack//SIGN is an excellent anime, because it doesn't rely on massive fights and light shows, but a good storyline with well-worked characters. The music is one of the reasons this show is good, because it fits the mood of the scene.

I go with Cyber E. Things don't need massive fight scenes eaither. And the music just makes you think, it's happy yet depressing. In .hack//sign you MUST use your brain, it contrubits to higher level of THINKING then most animes. It's great in the thought of having to think about the plot and all round great. Cause if you don't think about almost everything that's going on in the story you get confused. So the people who came up with the polt knew what they were doing and thought about the out come of everything in the story. Also on the outcome of how many people would happen to like .hack//sign

I don't see at all what you are saying, Jubei Yagyou, but, I also don't want to either.

I have never once thought of it as being boring and everything about it is so interesting to me. It's the very idea and again everything about it that makes me like it so much.
To me, the music is very amazing.

Good Ruby, nice explanation, you do sort of have to think with this kind of anime and that's another thing I like about it too.

& yes, Cyber E., it is excellent!

I perfectly understand where you are coming from, Jubei Yagyou. I've heard people call it boring/slow a lot, and that's to be expected. .hack//SIGN deviates from the norm in many ways, and the "online" aspect isn't the only reason.

This anime is not one that falls under the theme of "action speak louder than words." Realize that it's an anime that stresses the power of knowledge and thought instead of physical ability (one of the reasons .hack takes places online). You have to watch .hack//SIGN with those eyes. ;) It's also good to get a background feeling for the anime by visiting http://www.dothack.com/

I see where you're coming from, yet I disagree for the most part, Jubei.

Sure, the plot is slow, and there's very little action, but I always tell my family that .hack//SIGN "breaks away from the steriotypical mindless fighting anime we see in America".. Though that's not entirely the case for Japan. Really, I think .hack//SIGN is the first "philosophical anime" to be released on basic cable television, instead of the general action kung-fu thingie... Heh. It is slow at first, but it picks up and all fits together later on..

The music being bad? o_O No way. Impossible. The music is one of the best parts of the show!!

Yes the idea of it is awesome, but, the lack of words, its just emotions that tells the story. It doesnt really attract me alot, I'm not flaming its a good anime with good animation and plot. But the follow up to the hook of the plot is a harder thing, like, its the story telling that makes it good not the origanality in my point of view. Do you see what I mean? And the music... I guess nobody feels me on the music thing... :(

I think the whole point of the show is to make you think. Chararcters in the show never really come out an say something they say something else and you have to figure out what it means. If you pay attention the show is very meaningful. And all animes don't have to be action packed this one is more docile and told about conpiracies and such. See what I mean?

It would be a lie to say I do not find some parts of .Hack//SIGN to be boring (like the Tsukasa that stares blankly), but it is an interesting anime because it does deviate from the normal action-based ones. It is almost like Boogiepop Phantom, which relied more on mysterious plot twists and jumping from point to point.

Bad music?!? How dare you, sir. (j/k) Personally I think the music is the best part (even though the art and plot nearly tie with it). The interesting part is that most of the songs started out in english, and were not translated.

A lot of my friends find the series boring. But I think that it is just not a simple action series. The plot is rather complex and I find it like a giant puzzle. The .hack franchise is just a different type of anime, that not too many people are used to.

Yes! EXACTLY what you said, Hyper. My friend and I adore .hack//SIGN, but when I talked to my other friend about it, he was all "That's a boring show" and blah blah blah. It's really what you have a taste for. If you like mindless fights throughout the whole anime, then go ahead, watch it. If you can actually watch an anime like .hack//SIGN, it means that you can use your brain to think about what's gonna happen next, how did that happen, what made this occur, etc. etc. etc. Anime comes in many varities. You just gotta find the one that's right for you.

As for the music...I love it! I've even taped the beginning and ending songs. The music really does set the mood of the what the scence is going to be about. Like somebody else said, it's happy yet kinda depressing at the same time.

If you're not gonna give .hack//sign a chance well, it's your loss it's not boring if you follow the storyline and watch from the start of the series if you want alot of action, watch .hack legend of twilights braclet or better known as .hack//dusk, it's coming out soon in english, (I think) alot more fight scenes in that

I don't C whats so boring about .hack//sign. U C, at the end of each episode, they just leave U hanging. Wich is cool because it makes U think about what might happen in the next episode!

And plus, it leaves U in suspence! It MAKES U want 2 C the next episode! I mean Tsukasa might be a little stupified right now, but it's still good, I mean great. And the music, is also great.

man oh man, see that what is wrong with the youth of today, nobody wants to think. This is how I see it, with brainless anime like dragon ball z everyone expects the newist anime's to be nothing more then muscle heads going head to head, where they explain the plot before it happens then starts fighting, take yu yu hagisho and cyborg 009 or maybe or the more adult viewers whom have digital cable you have birdy the mighty and bubble gum crisis, see the anime may not be new, but when they come to america there new to the people, these anime's don't really make you think, you already know the outcome of whats gonna happen next.

We need more anime that resembles .hack

I find it boring wacthing the same episode over, (Unlike DBZ) Because its just talk talk talk, and you already know what happends. The only thing great about it is the suspence... So of course it would be boring after wacthing it more than once. But its still my favoirte anime :)
