Stuart
Ok Maybe its a stupid question but I wanted to know if you buy your anime or just wacth it off T.V? Me I wacth it all off T.V I could never waste so much money on buying it. I think its smarter just to wacth it on T.V. Although I would like to buy it, I just dont have the money. noodleboy
depends on how much i like the show...for the most part i "taste" it by watching it on tv or downloading it... if i like it i will buy it
IwakuraLain
i cant afford buying all those expensive imports so i just rent dvds on netflix.com- they have a lot of anime, but they sometimes dont stock all of the dvds in a series cuz there r too many :grumble: i cant help buying some of the manga of my favorites tho... :)
XxmagentaxX
I buy all my anime... or borrow it from freinds... I usually buy my lovely illegal fanfubs....
AzureWolf
Well, it really depends on the anime. I do buy anime, but VERY rarely. The anime has be top of the line, and one that I find "purchase-worthy." It just has to be an anime that floors me the first time around; one that know I would enjoy watching again; and one that's worth taking a deeper look at. Or, in short, it has to be one of the animes in my sig :D (although I'm not sure if I'll be able to get all of Naruto :twitch:...). I have to admit that there are just some shows that aren't good enought to buy, but still enjoyable to watch. I guess used DBZ would fall into that category for me (now I'm just sick of it for the same reason I'm sick of Yugioh). In the end, it just depends on what kind of person you are, and whether or not. There used to be a time when I thought video games were the only entertainment worth buying. Now it's up anime and video games... Hmm... Haha, I'm pretty simplistic when it comes to entertainment! Xai
I rent anime, but I don't buy it. Either that or on TV. I don't have a job, so I can't afford it.
Moor_Child
I don't buy anime, I usually just watch it on CN but I don't have cable anymore! *crying softly* But anyway, I would rent it but the rental store only has like three tapes. Anime isn't a big thing where I live, it's more of a thing only little kids watch.
BlueGender
Yeah I buy some usually after I see it at a friends house, like it alot, then realise I cant watch it on TV. I dont mind I mean if people didn't bu anime there'd be less of a selection.
SpikeSpiegel
usually i decide if its good enough to spend the green on by watchin it as a fansub or at a freinds house. all the stuff on tv is usually kinda old..not old old but not new cause they had to eng. dub it all. but the good ones earn the right to be bought. Whiteblaze
I haven't actually bought any anime except for a little Yu Yu Hakusho but, when I do it's only because I'm certain that I want it. I'm not known to do whim-shopping, I think about whether I really want something before I buy it and that goes for games, music, and other stuff too. Arkadyz
Well I dont buy anime much at all...Evangelion is about the only complete seris ive thusfar broken down and bought (And even then it was pretty heavily discounted) Otherwise ill either rent some from my local anime store, watch it on CN, or **ahem** download some fansubs... :D
vegeta rocker
depends on the price. If it is like 25 or something. I like Blue Submarine No.6 but its a set of OVAs and there are like 3 and there is only one part per 30 dollar dvd.
ssjgogeta4
I buy it if I can afford it. I'll tape it if it comes on TV, though.
Spikey
Usually I rent it from the video store, but sometimes I buy it. I hardly ever watch it on T.V. because the only channels are Cartoon Network and Action Channel. Sometimes I watch stuff on Tech TV, but I need more than just Science Fiction. Besides those channels I do not know where else to find anime on TV. I know the International Channel but I don't get that. So I usually rent it or buy it, but I rent more anime than watching it on tv and buying it. It's much easier, and I just don't have the money. But I am getting a better job here soon so I might start buying anime. But that's basically what I do.
pbfrontmanvdp
LoL, since i have so much money to waste i just buy 2 anime DVD's per week. Ive got like 46 now so I pretty much have a lot of anime series. Finally im starting on Evangelion so ill have to see if its really one of the best animes out there. So far mine are Cowboy Bebop, Hellsing, and then Noir.
Shinji-Kun
I am a bad boy and download all my anime. Yes I know, you may start the public floggings and beatings.
amibasuki
man, last year I spent almost all of my summer money on nothing BUT anime! in one week I'd get somethin' like 2-4 manga, and then a couple of DVD's. sad thing is, most of the stuff I bought last year I'm trying to get rid of (*cough* sell -- anyone interested in serious discounts, PM me *cough*), since I don't like most of it anymore. I think I probably would've done the same thing this year lol, except I had to pay for some other things. what I've bought this summer anime-wise consists of a Kenshin wallscroll, Totoro, Kare Kano 1, Marmalade Boy vol. 7, and a Spirited Away artbook. I'd download anime like I used to, except I've got some raunchy virus on my computer that keeps screwing it up (and how do you suppose I got it? >.>'). nope, don't think I'm gonna be doing much of that anymore. I don't think I'll ever be near as spending-crazy about anime as I used to be. not much anime nowadays that's worth paying over $100 per series to see. lol
Semjaza
I might be interested amibasuki. I'll send off a PM when I get home from school. Anime is just so damn expensive. I paid $90 just for the first season of Ranma 1/2. DVDs average something like $25 to $30 apiece. Considering there are generally few interesting extras and not so great picture quality, it's quite a rip off. I understand that they have to make their money back. They don't sell tons of DVDs, and they have to pay the licensing cost... But when I can get Simpsons Season Two for $30, and it's four DVDs, there's a problem. I've not bought any anime in a while, outside of Castle in the Sky. Thankfully Disney priced their Ghibli stuff competitively, and they're easy to find. It's hardly worth it anymore outside of that. Plus I have to chime in and say that most anime right out sucks. I am not going to waste my time with it. The only anime I'm watching currently is Hale Nochi Guu... which is one of the best anime I've ever seen. Sadly it hasn't been picked up for US release yet, so I'm just with online fansubs. I totally refuse to buy those cheap bootleg, Region 0 Hong Kong DVDs that I see so many people online buy (even those here). If it's not going to be released in the US that's one thing, but I don't know what you're helping but not contributing to the US sales of anime. It just makes the companies think no one is interested. Other than that... the only TV anime I watch is Lupin the 3rd, which I love. I'm really not interested in Kenshin, DBZ, Trigun or any of those. I've still yet to bother with Cowboy Bebop... and I checked out FLCL years ago. That Cyborg 009, or whatever, looks pretty fun though.
IkkiMechaPilot
Sadly i cant get a credit card yet so i can get any since there arent any stores around here that sell anime. My solution is to save up untill i can get a CC and then ill buy it near the end of the month and have to money before hand. So far i have like 800 canadian saved but with the rate bettering for canadian im sorta glad i havent bought any although i think if you got the conections buying anime out of japan using yen gotten at a good rate would be the best way to get it since its not too much realy. I have to say one day i want to have a vast colection of anime and manga but for now im poor since i dont have a job. My solution; olny buy the cheaper box sets of show i like that usualy arent too long episode wise. I recomend www.discountanimedvd.com cause there are some amazing buys and alot of the mainstream and subbed anime you hear so many good things about.
