Disturbing Anime

Has anyone watched an anime that disturbed them? I've seen quite a few. Most of them were when I was little though.

Examples:
(When I was little) Aeon Flux, X the movie, shadow skill
(Recently) The Animatrix

Don't get me wrong though, I still loved the Animatrix, and shadow skill both. They just messed with my head more than I liked.

Probably Excel Saga. I mean i didnt think half the stuff they did in it was even possible, but yet again Watanabe proved me wrong once again. Hyatt is probably the most disturbing character in anime history i think. I mean how many anime characters do you know of that die and then recouparate (sp?) 50 times in a series. And episode 26...im not even going to start how wrong that episode was, but it was still funny as hell.

I'm not easily disturbed, but Ninja Ressurection would be pretty darn disturbing for a lot of people. It's VERY gory. It makes a lot of other animes look like a walk through a flower field in comparison. Not to mention the two sex/rape scenes. O_o

Next would probably be the Second Renaissance(both parts)in the Animatrix. They were my favorite Animatrix episodes, but they're pretty darn disturbing. Gore, violence, nudity and such. Though it actually served a purpose to stress how terrible the events that happened were.(it was supposed to be shocking and disturbing)

Though if you're talking about the "wierd" factor, then Lain was pretty disturbing. 0_0

When I was about 14, just getting into anime (Im 22 now), I rented a flick called... "urutkusukidoji: return of the overfiend"

I had no clue.

Its filled with vile content. Hentai, hentai, hentai,

Rape, violence and all sorts of immoral, unethical content.

Its labeled, not for children, I should have taken that advice.

Let me tell you all, never watch any of those unless you love the hentai stuff.

So yeah, that was an anime that disturbed me.

Not the kind of disturb like a good emotional drama, oh no, Im talking real disturbance in your mind... things you forget when your lucky.

Blood Reign was a was a two OAV sereis i saw on the action channel that was pretty disturbing. The most disturbing scene being when you saw those two ninjas who were disimbowled. They were pretty intricate with that too the point where i all most barfed. I kinda like the show though.

FLCL which just premeired isn't what i would call disturbing, but its very strange. But in a very good way. it was hilarious!

Well if we're talking about psycological disturbing anime, then I'll have to mention Akira. It has some dark psycological themes going on, plus some of the imagery is pretty disturbing.

And from what I saw, Perfect Blue is also pretty messed up.:D

I have two that I have to go with here.

When I was seven, I saw Akira. If that's not something that can mess a kid up, I don't know what is.

Next, when I was a sophomore, I watched Perfect Blue. That movie freaked me out so badly. And the strange thing is, I watched it by myself, and that's not something I can usually do. But I was ready to give it back to the guy I had borrowed it from.

I guess anything related to Evangelion is disturbing. ^_^

(no offence to anyone who is gay) but it is really weird. oh and I don't watch it but my unfortunate friend did. he is stilled holed up in his room saying the monkeys are coming. don't ask me ask him but all he would say was they are coming.well if you don't think I am crazy yet please tell me and if so also tell me!!!!!

Why did you go and remind me of Reign the Conqueror? I wanted too forget that forever. That was so disturbing that it festers within me to this day.
LOL Daigo. Someone mentioned the all time greatest anime ever created again (if you cant tell im being sarcastic). I cant believe i forgot about Reign, i mean to make a history character an anime that was already boring to begin with. Whoever made that anime should be shot in my opinion, im sry but it didnt make any sense what-so-ever and the plot was terrible. I watched like 3 episodes and after i saw the 3rd when i was still questioning myself at why i watched the first one. Oh well cheers for Reign...begins burning eyes.

Disturbing animes... I've only seen one anime that truly disturbed me. It was Vampire Wars. Well it really didn't disturb me much, just one part in particular. Where the main vampire put his fingers into his broken neck and rearranged his bones... *shudders* heh. That and when someone is trying to cut there wrist open. I cant always take that. It does sometimes bother me. *shrugs*

The most disturbing anime movie I've ever seen is Revoultnary Girl Utena : The Movie. That thing was sick. i saw it over at a friends house and she said there was a little nudity. Yea only a little. Not! I mean ya see utena head on nued. Now I saw this when I was 11 and frankly I can never look at the anime Utena again. Plus the whole Anthey was raped by her brother was sick! To like that movie ya have to be hentai. *shudders* The main theme music IS awsome tho.
Now the most disturbing Anime would have to be Excel Saga. Yes its as funny as hell but I agree with pbfrontmanvdp its frenky when one person dies 50 times in one episode. Poor Pablo he just wants to see his sexy wife again.LOL

Um sorry for doing this, but being such a big Excel Saga fan, I have to point out your mistake.

Pablo is not the character's name, its Pedro.

Oh and yes the last episode was very disturbing,
especially the entire love hotel scene.
:D

If you can't stand blood and gore and blah blah blah, then don't see Princess Mononoke. Yeah, I know that sounds pathetic but it is actually kinda disturbing how the main character launches arrows that just slice off the enemies head or arms...
Fooly Cooly, I thought, wasn't that bad. I think the only "bad" part was when that one girl was smoking.
Blue Gender was just plain boring....oops, gettin' off subject...
Also, Reign is kinda disturbing. Ugh...*shuders* I'm so glad they took that off.
In short, beware of any anime. When I rented PM, I thought they had made a mistake when they ad the sticker of "PG-13" on the front (nope, I'm not 13 yet...) But it was true. So just watch you're little stickers. :D

End of Evangelion really messed with my mind when i first saw it. I was walking around like a zombie philospher for about a day or so afterwards.
Oh...and episode 20 of Cowboy Bebop(Pierrot le Fou) killed me the fist few times I saw it. The combo of the carnival music, the screaming, and the experimental horrors left me sobbing at one point and curled up in my bed whimpering that the music won't go away at another.

flcl, yeah. See, much of that is ... yeah. I guess you'll just have to understand much of the subtle *jokes* slipped in it to understand....
And who's bright idea was it to stick Alexander the Great in... that? Come on, does "boy king" mean ANYTHING to them?
I caught the end of one episode to Boogie pop... Ugh. A teenage girl was being ripped to shreds, and I couldn't tell if she was raped first or not. i think not, since her cd player was splattered with blood. But just to get "anything can happen at any time," across to the audience, the animator didn't have to zoom out and shoot a fuzzy scene of a part of the girl's body (I think head), sliding off the rest of her body. Come on, sometimes young kids stay up and watch this stuff.
