Ah, yes, Outlaw Star.. That is one great anime.. ^_^ The plot was great and the action was muy bueno. If you're into space cowboy stuff like Bebop and Trigun, you'll like Outlaw Star. (Cartoon Network got rights to all of them at once a few years back)

But be warned: There is one episode that was not aired on US television due to seeing.. A lot of things.... X_X And Melfina (a bio-mechanical android) doesn't have any clothing on sometimes.. Let's just say that that along with some more thematic elements makes this much more of a rated-R series if you're buying the DVDs.

But I would definitely reccomend it. ^_^

Outlaw Star, an action comedy with dashes of adventure, drama, and of course somewhat irritating characters. I have the last 8 episodes on DVD, best move I've ever made. Basically, what everyone before has said is accurate. As you can tell, this is one of my favorite anime. So this opinion is slightly biased. If I were you, I'd buy it.

Personally I think, yes Outlaw Star is a great anime, but the dubbed version was one of the worst I've seen. If you're planning on getting the DVD you'll see what I mean. I, personally, couldn't force myself through the dub, Gene and Jim expecially were destroyed in the dubbed version.

But buy it, see what you think ^_^ I loved it as a series!!

I love Outlaw Star. I think that it is very funny and a must buy. It is really cool and exciting. The forbidden episode, The HotSprings of Planet Tenrei, is very funny and awesome. It is forbidden because Cartoon Network refused to play it. That is one of my favorite episodes. I also love the opening theme song, and the first ending theme song. You ought to buy it.

The dub wasn't THAT horrible. It was not well done but it was still entertaining. But that shows you how great the show is, if it can still come out of a horrible dub looking cool, it must do something right.
I highly reccomend it. It has humor, action and drama. The music is also excellent. Both the opening and both ending themes.

Ahh, Outlaw Star. It is indeed a very good anime, not my favorite of course, but deffinitly a solid buy (from experience). I'd put it right behind Evangelion on my list of favorite animes, and would recommend it to people who like Cowboy Bebop and Trigun. It is a very nice blend of adventure, action, and comedy genres, and I've enjoyed it a lot.

Episode #23: Hot Springs Tenrei. Yes, I'm watching that right now. Anyway, the point isn't to show that I know a lot about Outlaw Star or something, but the entire reason that they didn't show it on CN is because of the mature themes, due to a few parts, but they are entirely covered up on my DVDs save for maybe a quick moment of the cat woman, whatever her name is. They never show Melfina without her clothes on anyway, so I diagree about that R rating, but perhaps a PG-13 for suggestive themes, lol.

These posts are certainly not allowed. OtakuBoards expects you to put in a lot more effort than that, and I think you should both read the rules before you post again. Both of those posts were deleted.

Er...do you have like an edited version or something?
Outlaw Star was the first anime series I entirel watched. I liked it so much, I snuck out of bed every night to watch it on the old Toonami Midnight Run. Some of the dubbing actually made me laugh at how stupid it sounded. Gene yelling "Moron!!!!" twice an episode had me on the floor everytime. All in all, this anime is very well put together. The balance of humor, action, and drama kept me watching for hours on end. I now own the whole series on DVD (thanks mom ^_^). I would recommend it to Cowboy Bebop and Trigun fans, but if you really look into it, I swear there is a little of every anime in there.

Hi!
Sorry if my message-board profile isn't very good, but I've only recently re-joined.

I think Outlaw Star is great, but I haven't watched it in a while. I taped all the episodes off CNX when they were showing it. It was worth it, since it's always there if I want to watch it. If its not on any TV network you have I would buy it, I think its worth the money.

I would recommend Outlaw Star to anyone who likes both light hearted humour, as well as the more serious protagonist vs. antagonist conflicts. You usually see two different types of battles. The first is usually quite slow moving, as the ships battle each other at long range with missiles, there are parts in the middle of combat where the characters talk, and then there is the faster paced grappler combat, where the ships increase in speed and actually fight at the rate of any martial arts choreography movie. Apparently you can tell the difference between the comedic episodes and the more serious ones because they are drawn by different artists. The music quality is great too, and I highly reccomend it in general.
As for the questionable episode, Hot Springs Planet Tenrei, I agree that it is very R rated, with suggestive themes including the cat girl (Aisha) naked, as well as a scene at the end where a young woman makes a dirty video for Gene (you don't see much though). If you want to avoid it, you can just skip it over, since the episode was taken off CN, it doesn't have much to do with the story, it's just a vacation episode. On the other hand, it is really funny, so if you or your parents don't have a problem with it, it's good for a laugh.
Uh, I guess that's it, enjoy if you get it!

Ah, Outlaw Star. While it was on Toonami/old Adult Swim, I must´ve seen it about ten times. The songs are really good, and I also rather like the animation. True, the dubbing could´ve been better, but it really wasn´t THAT terrible. It is definitely rewatchable, so I´d say go ahead, buy it.

As for the "forbidden" episode (#23), I haven´t seen it, so I wouldn´t know. I heard it was rather suggestive though.
