About a week ago..some goons broke into my families garage and stole 2 cases of beer from the fridge we have out there...my doors that lead from the garage to the kitchen don't close cuz my dad broke the doorframe in half (looong and bizarre story) so they could've easily entered the house too. The part of this story that bugs me the most though...is that my dogs were in the kitchen at the time of the crime (which was in the middle of the night) and the garage leads to the kitchen...and they didnt even bark at the intruders...i no longer have any trust in my dog's security.
So last night, when my friend was over for a sleepover..it was about 2:30 am..we heard a noise that sounded like a light switch being flicked...and a light in the kitchen went off...we both noticed it and were freaked out...we have a lotta timed lamps in our house...but none in the kitchen..after that, we kept hearing noises and we got freaked out and ran upstairs to get my mom (what 'fraidy cats we are  ) well, i took this heavy electric pump with me so if anyone jumped out i could hit them hard on the head. After we got upstairs..my mom and me and her started walking downstairs...and all of a sudden, i saw something move in the piano room i screamed and my friend ran back upstairs! It only turned out to be my friends reflection on the grand piano...o_O, well my mom decided that it was the automatic lamp in the piano room that went off...but we were pretty sure it wasnt...so we grabbed my 10 pound titanium flashlight to hit any one with...um..yea.

Well the point of this thread is to ask you OBers to share any stories that you have of robberies or just simple attacks of paranoia (like the one above) that went out of hand. ;)

when i was little (i dont remember this, my parents told me about it) my house was broken into twice. once they stole a nintendo, a bunch of games and a gun case with a gun inside. i dont know what was stolen the other time but i still worry about our house being broken into again. i wouldnt use something heavy to hit burglers with though, id use my knife. (to stab them, not to hit them with)

Well, I think we were close to being robbed. My mom noticed that the screens on the window were all taken off, and they were lying on the ground. Nobody in our family had taken them off, and better yet, I have to spend the night alone in the house. O_o

Ok, once when I was 8 or something, I was staying at my Great aunt's place. One night I slept there, and this was the story next morning.

Some thieves tried to break into the house last night by going through the window (everyone keeps windows open in summer). My grea aunt heard them and went down to the main hall with a broom. Then somehow she was able to press the security swith and alert the police who came to arrest the thieves.

And all through this, I slept like a log. I don't know what to say.v-v

When I was a few years younger I was always scared that some guy would come in and try to hurt my mom so I kept a big rock that I dug up above my bed. ... Yes it's a bit strange. Now I keep a gun. Nah I'm kiddin. I don't have any weapons! (but if you wanna know the truth... come get me!)

One time when I was really young my house got robbed. I don't remember it, but my parents talk about it. Apparently some thieves broke in during the night and stole some stuff while we were all asleep. I'm not exactly sure what got stolen; i know a tv, radio, and stuff like that were. What freaked my parents out was that they had a samurai sword from Japan hanging on the wall, and that was gone. They were thinking that they could've all been stabbed in their sleep or something. That morning they called my grandparents to come over, and my grandma wanted to rearrange all the furniture so if the thief came back, he'd be confused:rolleyes:

Well, I used to live in two homes. One was in Oakland with my mother (in the hood). The other was with my grandparents in the suburbs. I stayed with my grandparents sometimes, so I could go to school in the suburbs.

Anyway, I was sleeping at my grandparents' house while my mom was out-of-town, leaving the house in Oakland completely empty. The next day, we discovered that the entire house had been pilleged. My TV, half of my old toys (they left the Power Rangers zords, strangely), and my video games were gone. What's weird is that they took all of the Sega Genesis games, the controllers, and the adapters, but left the Genesis itself. Strange thieves.

One time when I was very young, we lived in LA, california, and a robber cut a hole trough out screen door, and messed up the frame. But never got in.
And another time we were driving and somebody shot a gun at our car, shot the back window, big whole, nobody got hurt and that's it. That's pretty much it.

Another time, my family was staying in a cabin in Crestline. It had just snowed before we came so we brought our snowboards/skiis. They were on the car roof on the little attatching thingees, and the car was in plain sight out the window. I woke up one morning and busied myself doing whatever. I didn't think to look out the window. Later my dad went outside and came back in, saying the snowboards were stolen. What was odd was that the two snowboards(mine and my dads) were the only things gone. The three pairs of skiis were left behind. This happened a couple years ago, so there was a big difference in my board lenght and my dads. Maybe the thief had a kid or something.

My house was broken into to some extent years ago. Our basement has a Plexiglas window, something typical goons can't break. Unfortunately, the window frames were weak, so they panes of glass were just kicked in. Nothing was taken out of the basement, save for my bicycle and my cousin's. Which, is a bit strange considering there were televisions and other valuables down there.

Similarly to your story, Keyblade, our dog didn't even bark. Which, made the police think it was an inside job.

Chalk this one up to Unsolved Mysteries.

About 3 months ago some goons broke into my house while I was asleep. Of course I heard the crash of window and sat up in bed. I kind of just sat there and listened while the robbers talked and moved quite loudly around my house. When they left I laid back down and went to sleep. When I woke in the morning, oddly enough the only thing the robbers took was a box of Pizza, considering I had just moved in and I was sitting around on plastic crates, and using makeshift tables. Even the TV. was left, its only a 15inch so it wouldn't even be worth taking. So.....robbers stole my Pizza!

a few years back, my parents and i went outta town, we left my brother in charge of the house. my neighbor set fire to our yard (by accident) and the fire was going up into our other neighbors yard as well. The firemen came with all there sirens going on and everything. They knocked and slammed on our door to see if anyone was home. No one answered. When we came back from our trip we saw the damage done to our yard. We thought something happened to my brother. We barged in and it turned out he was sleeping through the whole entire thing.

not really a robbery story, but it was still scary.

We've been robbed a few times, nothing serious thankfully. The most recent robbery we've experienced happened about a month ago. Though what can we expect living in the part of town we are. Only a few laptops, and a bike have been stolen from us, we're lucky nothing else was taken.

our garage was broken into a couple of times. The first time just a can of heavy duty glue was taken??? Stupid criminals. Second time a crate of diet coke was taken, just some kids I think. The third time they took all the power tools...so that was kinda bad, we had insurance on them though so we were compensated with much better tools ^_^.

hmmm...I don't think I've ever been robbed but I remember in the last couple years my aunt's car has been broken into at least five times. usually they didn't get the stereo (which is what they always went for bcuz it was the same ppl every time.) but the windows were still broken. My aunt finally got one of those stereos that you take the face off of and nobody's broken into her car since.
