Shinmaru
A few weeks ago, I finally got my drivers' permit and I started taking drivers classes so that I could get my license. I thought everything would be just fine, but of course, I was wrong. First off, I don't like my class. The teacher is okay (if a little odd) and the class isn't boring, but half the people the class are annoying and the other half make me want to fall asleep. What makes it worse is that I took a make-up class yesterday because I'll be missing a class and that class was way more fun than my crappy class. Second, I've found that no matter how easy other people make driving seem, when you start to learn it it's at least a billion times harder. It also doesn't help when the first thing you do is accidently press down on the accelerator too hard coming out of your parking spot lol. I have gotten better, but I think my skills can be described the way I told my friend, Lex: "I think I've made the transition from God-awful driver to below average driver, so that's pretty good." But even as bad as my driving experience has been so far, I'm sure that there are people who've had it way worse than I have.
Raiha
I had a guy sitting next to me in drivers ed Snap at me for putting my feet on the table. Give me a break! I was hot, tired, and pissed off at the world. I snapped back at him, and he moved. *evil grin* He tried to scare me, but I'm 17, and I'm not scared of punk *** twits like him that think they're all hard at the tender age of 14.... That was Drivers Ed. Drivers Training, is a ball. Just don't lose your mind.
SadClown
^^ Learning to ride a bike is just as hard I'm sure. Be thankful you don't have the Driver's Ed. teacher I did. She made several girls in my car cry and I almost parked the car on the side of the street and got out becuase she kept calling me the worst driver she's ever seen. Ha, too bad I passed my test on the first try. Dumb *****.
otakukev
I'm taking driver training sometime soon. I dont expect it'll be that dificult, but my bro says the show movies about what happens if you crash. Lots of blood and stuff. I think he was lying, but I'm not too sure. I'm glad you're all making me look forward to driver's ed. Thanks.

WW2
Geez I didn't like drivers ed at all. Mainly because I had to take it at school, during summer break. Plus we had to watch this stupid movie with a bunch of stupid actors. I can still remember the stupid catch phrase, "Sure Mack Sure." All in all I'm very glad I don't have to take drivers ed ever again.:D
Ninjaman
I had to go through four weeks of drivers ed this summer. The class instructor was pretty boring and the videos were even worse. Sure we got to watch one video of "World's Worst Car Crashes" or something like that he taped on Fox. But that won't make up for those videos starring this car crash dummy called "Number 1". The driving instructor was worse. I can tell he really didn't like me, probably because the first time he took us driving I hit some curbs when turning, lol. He kept annoying me telling me how bad I was turning or how fast I was going. Gosh I just wanted throw an object at him. I have to see him one more time because I failed the test by one friggin' point.
Doukeshi
Meh, I'm in england we don't get Driver's Ed, well, not in school anyway it's an outside tutoring. Also you can only learn to drive when you're 17...bummer huh. Anyway, I'm pretty good I'd say, although I have this thing with roundabouts (all you British folk'll know what I'm talking about) I have difficulty with right of way ^_~. future girl
my driver's ed class was the most hilarious thing on this planet. the school had no car or no driving ring, so as compromize the teacher let us SEE the inside of his car. also, we had to practice parking with little toy cars on a peace of card board designed to look like the street. worst thing is, i have my drivers liscense and i didn't even need to take a test and the one time i touched a car i forgot to take it out of reverse and my dad said never again. Shinji-Kun
OMG. I had the best driving teacher ever. I mean, this guy would crack on anyone driving around us. But we had to watch this really awful video called "The No Zone" and I wanted to hang myself during that thing.
wild thang
i havent taken drivers ed yet and i was really looking forward to it until i read what you ppl had to say about it. actually, im really looking forward to it still. unfortunately, most of my friends are almost 2 years older than me and theyll get their drivers liscense just 3 months after i get my permit. that sucks. RicoTranzrig
Driver's ed was cake...we had this instructor, Bill, who was always sick so we ended up studing those books on our own, watcing tons of videos (including a Simpsons episode where Homer had to stop drinking for 30 days), and often played pool and cards in the room next door during breaks. With a more normal teacher, it probably isn't that bad, probably much more lecturing than we got. There were quizzes and a final exam thingy...but they were easy plus almost all of us got our permit on the first try. Driver's training was fun too...I had some laid back guy who took me through everything the first lesson. Then by the second lesson he felt confident about my driving techniques and we just went cruising around town with the loud music.

It was funny. But kinda lame if you think about it... I failed my first time, because I was sicker than a dog, aced it the second...only missed what? 3? My instructor makes me do nothing but lanechange, park, and turn. Not like I can't do that already...I've been out on the freeway with my dad before....Several times actually. Just don't lose your mind.
Bleh, I hope I don't lose my mind. Everything's going well so far (the class is easy), but mid-term is coming up. I loathe studying.
Originally posted by Taylor Hewitt Is drivers ed scary? I mean is it hard or easy?
Nah, the class is super easy if you actually try. It's not like it's hard to learn the stuff. The actual driving is the hard part. Took me a while to get used to it and I was just riding around with my dad in a near empty parking lot lol. But I have my first in-car lesson to look forward to on Sunday, so I hope that goes well.
Originally posted by WW2 Geez I didn't like drivers ed at all.
Heh, I'm taking this stuff during summer vacation, too, from 6:30-8:30 PM. Not so bad because I've heard of driving classes that are way longer than that. Bleh, we have to watch those movies all the time. We have this "Licensed to Learn" crap and we have to watch videos every class. They're filled to the brim with cheesy music that gets stuck in your head and voice actors that sound like they'd rather be anywhere but there. And my teacher is the weirdest teacher I've ever seen. I swear, when I first saw him, I thought he was a girl. He has this high voice and short hair that makes him look like a girl. Kinda freaked me out for a bit o_O And he has this weird habit of cheering and jumping around and going "Yes!" when someone gets a question right. Makes me laugh out loud every time I look at him lol.

Ryo
I just recently passed Driver's Ed with flying colors. My teacher really didnt care where we were going. I mean, she took us to grocery stores and places like that. It was really easy. I didn't know that driving a car would be that easy.
Emme888
I'm taking drivers ed this winter...ahhhh! Ice, snow, very bad!!! God save me, and everyone pray that I don't crash! Lots of homework and a mean teacher, what luck huh?
animeforever105
I haven't taken drivers ed yet. I can't get a permit for another year but from what I've learned so far I can get an emergeny drives permit now. :) I'm reading up early and I have a computer program that teaches drivers ed as well. I already know how to drive and brake and turn my blinkers on and shift etc. my aunt and uncle have been teaching me and letting drive around secretly. MWAHAHAH! My sister said drivers ed sucked for her though. hmmm. classes in summer...

"It's the No Zone!" *does a dance* Oh man, I was cracking up through that entire video, lol. In any case, my Drivers Ed class was alright, but I got kind of tired coming back from school then sitting in another classroom for 3 hours. My classroom teacher was alright; he told it like it was and made the class interesting, but sometimes it would get boring after he talked for a while, or after we watched a movie for too long, but everything gets boring after too long (well, not my Mei-koi. ^_^). Anyway, one embarassing moment I had during the class was when he asked me why they have a Zero Tolerance policy on underage drinking and driving. I responded "Er...because, it would be illegal to drink anyway?" "HAHAHA!! Wrong! It's because you can't drink until you're 21." O_o;;
Sara
I loathed my behind-the-wheel instructor. I've never had to deal with that much 'verbal abuse' in my life. I ended up changing instructors midway through the course. /
Semjaza
I took this like 5 years ago. The class itself was mindless. I went to a Catholic high school, but they only offer those classes at public schools here. So they had some teacher come over and have a class right after school. We had to buy some archaic book. After that was done, they made us make appointments at the actual drivers ed building. It was more like a trailer. They had these fake car things in there. You had to watch a projected movie and turn your car or press the brake accordingly. The things almost never worked right. At the end we had to take that drivers ed paper exam. The only important part about that is that you need to indentify all the signs on the back exactly. If you don't, they make you take it over. The actual driving stuff wasn't so bad, but at times you'd get teachers who were just jerks. I wound up stopping with about two more classes to go. A year later, I called up and made a new appointment to actually finish. The funny thing was that the day I went in was exactly a year later. A year to the day lol. Finished that easily. Finally, I got to take the actual license test. The worst part was the waiting. You sit there in your car forever. I finally got some stubborn, mean looking guy. He simply didn't talk unless he had to. We drove out of the DMV, maybe two blocks away and then back. Basically I had to only stop at a sign and a light and turn left once. Finally I had to do a Y turn and park in the parking lot. Easy stuff. I wound up getting a very good score. So really, all the crap leading up to the final test was a lot more difficult... if you even want to call it that. It's all just time consuming. QueenBee
My Drivers Ed classes weren't that bad but there was this kid who would not stop clicking his pen and that gets so damn annoying anyway It got to the pointI threw my pen at him, and he still wouldn't stop so when the teacher left the room I threw my notebook at him. I think I hurt him but he finally stopped and everyone in the class was thankful.
