Birthdays

Well today is my birthday, and several OB members have PMed me and such to wish me one(so thanks to you for that) But that is not the point of this topic. I am 17 years old. 17 years wiser. I don't feel 17 though, I still feel the same as I did last year and the year before it. Nothing has changed really. Well physically I have changed, but I don't have that mentality that I have grown older.

And that also really isn't the point of the topic, just something that I would like to share with you all, and maybe you can comment and such.

But, like I already have said, today is my birthday, but there doesn't seem to be anything special about it. And this has feeling has gone on for the last few years. I don't really look forward to the day, its just an ordinary day. I could remember when I was a kid of about.....oh ........10, and I really looked forward to this day, I couldn't wait for people to call me to wish me a happy birthday. I couldn't wait to see what my parents had done for me, and also the presents they had gotten me :D . I just really couldn't wait for this day. But as the years have gone by, the day gets more and more......less special.

I know birthdays and such won't always be the same every year, and maybe it does get less special, but I was wondering if you feel the same way, and what year it, if it has, did it hit you that your birthday is just a regular day.(guess you can always live with this line......."Everyday is a holiday and every meal is fit for a king"

Happy Birthday sire.

There is no importance to 17. You're already old enough to drive. You still can't legally smoke, drink, vote, gamble, or even go into porn shops. Crazy! I'm assuming you live in the US anyway, I don't know if you do. Those rules are all different around the world lol. You get my point, I hope.

Birthdays never meant much to me as it is. I'm older every day I'm alive. Who gives a ****.

Anyway, I'm turning 21 on the 9th. Nothing of importance other than random people telling me they want to take me out to drink on my birthday. No thanks.

I feel the exact same way. It hit me when I was eleven, I felt like it was no big deal at all. But then years later it hit me, "You're a teenager." And I remember being little and wishing I was a teenager but now I realize I'm no different from when I was a kid. I hardly even care about birthday, I don't even tell any of my friends anymore.

Well I think I have found a good way to get some more Birthday wishes, late or not, your not allowed in this topic without giving me a birthday wish...............hehe:angel:

But its just somethin that everyone goes through, some people have it a lil earlier than others, but wow.........11.....I really can't remember what was going on with me at 11, but I would think I still enjoyed my birthday. I think I enjoyed them even more, with my parents being divorced(yah that may sound bad), and me seeing both sides of my family often, I would have 2 birthdays, or sometimes more, one to celebrate with my dadda and his family, and another with my mom and her family. But I guess since I havn't seen much of my dad and his family that the birthdays have become less memorable.

I know how you feel. If it was not for my mom reminding me the day before, I would have totally forgotten about my birthday this year, lol.

Though it probably does not help that I have developed an irregular sleeping pattern, which makes it difficult for me to tell one day from the next (and I have a hard enough time doing that, in general).

Happy belated birthday.

happy birthday sa and salvatore.

birthdays stopped meaning anything to meabout 11 or 12. i think it was 12 though because that was when i was playing football and our team had just won the biggest game of the season to give us a perfect season.

i never forget my birthdays, but this year christmas totally blew me by. i didnt even know what time of the year it was until we went to my grandmas and there were presents.

Happy 17th Birthday!

I'm turning 13 on the September 27. On my 12th birthday I felt exactly the same, I didn't feel special, it felt like a normal day. I'm a very short person for the age of 12, 4ft. 6in.. And very light, 70lbs. But now that I'm getting closer to my 13th birthday, I'm starting to grow. (^^FINALLY!!!)
You should feels specail though, your allowed to drive. And my mom won't even let me drive until i'm 18. (My mom, "You can't drive until your 18! NO NO NO! Blah blah blah...")

Other than that, HAPPY 17TH BIRTHDAY!!! And try to feel special!

jumpin' on the bandwagon. Happy Birthday, everybody!!!

whenever my birthday rolls around, it's usually maybe one or two days beforehand when it hits me (oh!). last year I went to school and forgot it was my birthday until I found a candy bar in my locker from my Peggy-Sue. I don't think that'll be the case this year though. I've been waiting to turn 16 for a good while now. lol

Here, here! Happy Bitrthday!

On the 21st i'll be turning 19. Nothing all that important since i'm away from the house and not going to College. So to me my Birthday will end up as a normal day. Just lounging around the house trying to find more work so I can fill my gas tank. So in retrospect the only thing I'm semi-looking foward to in a few years is to legally drink. Then again drinking isn't all that smart in the first place....

Hah, I've found a way around wishing GoS a happy birthday - I already sent him a Happy Birthday message over PM! Score!

Bleh, enough of that. Birthdays don't mean that much to me usually, but it means a little more this year, since I'll be turning 18 (on November 19th...so far away...@_@). Not that I'll be doing anything irregular (for me, that is) but 18 just seems like a relevant number :D . After that, 21 is the next relevant birthday and then, it serves as a reminder that I'm not getting any younger...but I'm too young to worry about that right now lol.

Happy birthday! :)
I'm still 13. I think the 13th birthday is one of the last that really matter. I mean 16 is important and 18 and 21. Then you can drink drive and smoke. Not that I would want to... smoke that is.

I don't understand, why do you have to be immature because you love your birthday?

Me, I've never actually had a real birthday party and most of my birthdays weren't anything out of the ordinary or weren't what you'd consider exciting or special but, you see, that's the thing.

In spite of all that, I still see my birthday as being special and I always get excited the few days right before it.
Being one possibly insignificant year older doesn't make me feel too different or mentally older even but, I've certainly changed in some ways in ten years and even in five, just basically the same person.
To me, it's like my own special day but, things can go wrong or not my way and again you see that's okay because it won't ruin it for me because that's just how I am.
Even if I were to not get a single present, it wouldn't matter because it would have been an awesome day for me anyway.
It's not really a party or presents that make it special to me, just the fact that I was brought into this world on this very day is good enough for me but, everything else just makes it even better!

Let's just say I have a certain childish or you could say child-like fascination/amusement/excitement with some things in life, that?s very rare.

It was my 14th birthday when it happened. People who I've known for about 6 years didn't even remember. Or didn't want to. Realization came to me that it is just another day. Nothing special. I don't care about gifts anymore, so those from my family didn't change my mood. I guess somewhere deep down inside i get an apprehension feeling about my birthday. But for some reason it goes away farther each year.

I believe that birthdays feel less special once you grow out of having a birthday party and inviting all of your friends. You rememeber that excitement that you used to feel getting all of those presents and such from your friends, but now that it's gone, you notice the sort of emptyness behind it and realize that the hype behind it isn't as big. That's how I felt at least; after my 13th birthday party, no one made a big deal out of it anymore, so I didn't think of it as important.

It is also true, however, that some birthdays are more significant than others in the sense that the things that you are allowed to do is much more broad. Such birthdays include 16 (a lot of jobs and such), 17 (don't forget about R-rated films, heh), 18, and 21. The hype returns for these birthdays depending on whether or not you decide that the things that become legal are things that you are interested in doing. I do know exactly what you mean though, heh; birthdays just seem not as exciting as they used to.
