rokas
Having your own money helps. You can buy stuff without relying on you'r parents on alowence. Except that to get hold of money you can call your own, you have to find your self a job. I found myself a part time job in a solicitors firm few months ago. well technicaly it's not a job, I'm just helping my mom in her business (cleaning), and geting money for that. So anyways I hoower that solicitors place three times a week... , but that's not what I came to talk about. What I'm wondering, is if there are any other youngsters (I'm 15 by the way) who work. So if you work, could you tell me... What was your first job? Even if it was just some household chore that you got paid for. I remember when I was about eight years old, my dad was building smething in our house and to keep me outside he told me to bring him bricks, I got paid I think five (Lithuanian)cents a brick. I must have brought thousands of bricks, and then spend all the money on chocolates and icecream, yet i'm happy for doing all that, that summer is the only significan't muscle-building period in my life so far. What job do you have now? I'm cleaning, it's an easy job, keeps me out of lazynes. What do you think of having job in general? Especialy the phisical kind. I'm not embarresed to say that or my parents do phisical work. Everybody has to have some sort of work sometime in their life. At least I can say that I'm not spoiled. Guest Taylor Hewitt
I'm unemployed at 13. I know. It's sick. But I wanted a job this summer maybe working at Dominion or Lawblows or something. Those are shopping marts. I'm low on cash! :P And I didn't get allowance this summer but that's ok I started off with about 100 bucks (canadian) but spent it all ^^. Anywayz I'll probably work at a shopping mart When I turn 14 in October.
amibasuki
the closest thing I've got to a job is a babysitting thing I've done for the past 2 summers. I don't make any money at home, since my parents don't do the allowance thing; when I had gotten money from them, they've consisted of singular quarters and/or one dollar bills (joy! candy store time! :flush: ). yes, jobs outside the home are very fortunate things. don't think I'll be able to get an 'official' job for a while though, considering I'd have to drive myself to and from it (requiring a driver's license and separate car). that's gonna take some time getting. but I'm perfectly happy with the summer job. lol

Braidless Baka
I remember, my dad used to trim the hedge... and this isn't some little baby hedge... ohhhh noooo this is a huuuuge hedge! the trimmings were the size of branches!! And I spent a good couple of hours picking them up... and I'd get 50p (about 75cents) to pick them all up O_o and I thought I was getting paid well!! Right now I work as a sales assisstant in a clothes store ^_^ It's not especially well-paid, but I appreciate the money. My wages are better than my pocket money was anyway ^_^ I have to get the bus there and back, but it's all good I guess. It gets a little hecktic during school, but during the summer it's a good way to get yourself out of the house ;)

Shy
What was your first job?: Unless you count running my high school newspaper, my first job is the job I currently have at Disneyland. What job do you have now?: I'm a ride operator on "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. What do you think of having a job in general?: I don't mind working, and spending a day on the job leaves me with a small sense of accomplishment. I don't make a lot of money from my job, but there are still times when I really enjoy it. Yay for Disneyland, and me... -Shy
Sere Tuscumbia
*sobsob* I have yet to get a job. I mean, I could get a job (me being a month and some handfuls of days away from being 16) but the fact that I don't have a Driver's License (or even a Learner's Permit! I'm so horrible!) complicates things a little bit. However, since I live on the main street of town (71st street and right by the mall) there's a lot of stores and fast food places (and gas places) that I can get to either by walking or biking. I needa job though. ¬¬;;; Mmmooonnnnneeeeyyyyy . . . --Sere

Heaven's Cloud
What was your first job?: When I turned 16 I spent the entire summer and fall semester of school as a camp instructer at the local YMCA. I was a pretty fun job, and I got to warp...I mean mold some young kids' minds in the process What job do you have now?: I work inside/outside sales for a master distribution company...(mainly I sit in a cubicle and make phone calls to customers and prospective customers all the while sporadically visiting the OB) What do you think of having a job in general?: If I didn't have to work I wouldn't, but I have found that bill collectors call you quite frequently if you don't pay them
Guest Lilarcor
My first job (and my current one) is *drum roll* a pizza boy! That's right! Not a delivery boy but one of the little people who actually does all of the work, but gets no recognition. What a job! Taking orders, answering phones, making pizza, docking dough, preparing toppings and sauces... All in a days work for me. But it's a very fun job and very rewarding. I literally get paid to have fun!!!!!!!!!!!
Celia
I don't have a job right now since I am too young to work. I was the person who picked up phones at a hotel and I got paid fifty dollars. I felt really good because I earned my own money!!^_^ I also get five dollars a week for chores which I never spent because my mom said if I do, then I am spending their money... soooo, I never spend a dollar of it.
otakukev
I currently work for my dad, doing all the yardwork around the yardwork, since he fired our gardeners. They were very good at blowing fallen leaves around O_o I do it with my brother, and I get paid about $20 a week. Every other week or so we wash the cars, and get about $5 per car. Once I'm old enough to get a real job, I'm gonna try and work someplace like subway or coldstone, and snack on the food when there aren't any customers ^_^

Fall
I work at the only Hungary Jack's store in town. They're basically the same as Burger King, I think they're owned by Burger King aswell. We basically get paid the same as employees our same age do over there, and the practises are the same. If you ask me, we get paid $5.00 an hour, for a $10.00 an hour job.
