OtakuSennen
It was just announced maybe an hour ago that Arnold Schwarzenegger (sp?) is running for governor of California.. For the "recall election" of Gray Davis.. Apparently, according to what the news people were saying, he was not going to run, but at the last moment he changed his mind. They are saying that he's pro-family and hypo pro-education as well.. How do you all feel about him running for governor?.. I, myself, think it's a good idea (not that my opinion counts, I'm not old enough to vote yet).. He has a family and you never hear anything bad about him on the news... Has anyone been a movie star and a politician at the same time? :therock: How will he balance that?
Harry
He beat Predator. If the opponent didn't, then he doesn't deserve to run.
Emme888
He's an actor, and not a very good one at that! I have never thought of him as an intelligent person, what else does he have besides a MR. Universe title.....he should stay on the screen not politics, I would not vote for him, simply cause he has no prior expirence or the intelligence for such an important role in the politcal scene. Besides it's all a publicity stunt....ugh!
WW2
I don't think he will be able to balance both jobs. This makes me angry because if he does get the job, then there won't be anymore Ah Nuld movies for a while. Well he is getting pretty old, so maybe him switching to politics or something else isn't such a bad idea. I personally don't like this whole "recall election" thing. I mean the people re elected the guy, so they must deal with him. Geez, people take responsibility for your actions.

They're recalling him because they simply just want to tax all its residents into oblivion. they already pay a 10% state incom tax, and the governer wanted to reaise it more. Just making them tough it out would destroy the economy and it would hurt the US.
what else does he have besides a MR. Universe title
I doubt you will top this in your life. FartMaster745
on AOL out of 44,646 votes 74% of the people voted that Ah-Nuld might win and 75% wanted him to win. I have no comments(i'm not very political).
Semjaza
Arnold is a good actor mainly because he scores the right parts. The guy has done a lot in his life, something I doubt most people here would ever come close to doing. The idea that he is stupid is laughable as it is. What is this based on? The fact that he has an accent and stars in action movies? I'd like to think Freddie Prinze Jr. and Ben Affleck are morons too, but surprisingly they aren't. Besides he'd make a better governor than the last guy we had here in Illinois. He'd probably be better than a good deal of others too.
WW2
Hey I also heard that Larry Flynt, of Hustler fame, is also running for governor. But he's just one of the many people who desire to be elected. I think there's around 30 people who are also running for the same position as governor of California. Basically anyone who can raise a couple of thousand dollars can run. I think its all getting out of hand.
DeathBug
...So how long do we keep having to have a serious political discussion, and at what point can we drop that and start making Terminator jokes? We all know what his re-election slogan will be: "I told you I'd be back". I'd vote for him, anyways. He always seemed like a stand-up guy to me. Semjaza
That's how democracy and elections work. It's not as if people have to vote for these people. Those who want to run should simply be able to, although it takes far more than a few thousand dollars to get anywhere lol.

Manic Webb
OtakuSennen, US president Ronald Reagan was an actor. Governor Jesse "The Body" Ventura of Minnesota used to be a pro wrestler (which is close to an actor). Anyway, I'm more than sure Arnold Schwarzenegger will pull us out of our cripling debt that's ruthlessly raising our community college prices. Oh, but I'm not bitter. I just want to make sure that whoever governs our state is somebody that won't make me pay double tuition.
Harry
Well, atleast think of the image macros that will be coming. http://mywebpage.netscape.com/harruin/VoteTerm.jpg
Raiha
Eew, it's hideous. *runs and hides* Personally, I have nothing against him. I'm intersted in how he will run things, and if he knows what he's doing. I do NOT think it's a publicity stunt. If he wanted that, he could start some homeless program for "at risk" youth or something.... This is a bit more daring, don't you think? I also found it fascinating that he said he wouldn't be taking money to run from "Special Interest" groups. He said jokingly that he already had plenty. At least this guy can tell the truth. *shrug*
Red
Just because someone is/was an actor doesn't mean they're not capable of doing that kind of job. If he manages to pull it off, good on him. If not, people can continue to group actors as bad at everything else (including acting if you're a critic).

Yes, yes I too hope he would be a good actor,........Um yah I don't think the question is if he is a good actor or not. He has had many films to prove himself worthy(and I'd say he wasn't a bad actor) But, anyway..... The Govenator, Half Cyborg.....Half Legistlative Machine. I would hope it works out for him. I really can't say if it will, but there's always that hope. What really should matter, is that the new Governor, whoever he/she is, improves what is going on in Cali. If Arnold is the guy to do it, then lets make a toast to him. But my question would be, if it didn't work out, I wonder what would happen to him and his career(acting/political)
klinanime1
He seems to be genuinely concerned about politics, but he could be a better actor than I thought. Personally, I'd rather him be governor than that one chick with a pink car, floofy blond hair...*shudders*. I'm getting rather sick of watching it, and Kobe, all over the news, you know? I mean, it's so nice to know no one got kidnapped, shot, raped, and nothings going on the middle east these days.
eleanor
:P You can't judge people's intelligence from their acting skills. There are some very smart actors/actresses... Well...California isn't exactly in its prime form right now, with a huge debt and thousnads of jobless people. I don't know how good Arnold would really be, so I guess I can't say anything.
Shinmaru
Personally, I think he'd be a pretty good governor. He seems like an intelligent guy and he's really serious about turning California around. I'm pretty sure it can't get any worse than Gray Davis has screwed us, but that's another story for another thread...
Originally posted by WW2 I personally don't like this whole "recall election" thing. I mean the people re elected the guy, so they must deal with him. Geez, people take responsibility for your actions.
Hey, it's just like any other job; Gray Davis did a less than superb job as Governor of California, so he gets "fired." He's suing so that he can run for Govnernor again, but I doubt he'll get relected.
Originally posted by WW2 Hey I also heard that Larry Flynt, of Hustler fame, is also running for governor. But he's just one of the many people who desire to be elected. It is getting out of hand because there are about 400 (from what I've heard) people running for Governor now. All you need to run is $3,500 and 65 signatures. Hard to believe that people think that 65 signatures will get them the support of all of California lol. By the way, Gary Coleman is also running. Just thought I'd throw that in there. Rikku
I really hate how people think he's a stupid git just because he has a strong accent. He's actually really smart, and I'd rather see him as governor than this ***, Davis. He gets my vote. :D Bwahahaha... I love being 18.
pbfrontmanvdp
I just want to know if anyone knows the governor of NJ. His name is McGreevy and hes the smartest governor in the world...right next to a stick and a rock. I swear i would take Arnold as our governor then the one we have now in NJ. This is his latest law(Magies Law) that he signed..."People will get a ticket if they are caught sleeping while driving and if they are also caught sleeping on the side of the road(shoulder) in an automobile". The reason this law is stupid is that if its put into affect there is no solution to this law. If someone is tired, wouldn't u like them to pull over and sleep on the side of the road out of harms way. Nope not our governor, he wants them to keep driving and then have an accident with another automobile, killing innocent lives. Next, how can you make a judgement on if someone is tired or not when driving??? Some have a higher limit of staying up then others. Its not the same as if someone is drunk since you use a breathilizer test(sp?) to make the judgement. So i would pick Arnold as my governor...he really is a smart individual to begin with. Dont judge someone on how they look, but what they have done in their lives.
Transtic Nerve
Arnold is actually a really smart Politician, much like Jesse Ventura. If you ever heard Arnold actually talk, instead of reading a written script, then you'd know. I think he's more up front and honest than any other politician might be, exactly why I think he'll win. Although, don't expect him to ever become president.
Doukeshi
I wonder if anyones noticed the closness to what was mentioned in a sylvester stalone movie 'Demolition Man'. It's set in the future and Sandra Bullock is telling Sly that Arny was President for a while after first becoming a governor somewhere...I forget where. I'm English, so it really doesn't effect me, but I do think he'll do well as a politician and I think he's a pretty intelligent person.
Heaven's Cloud
I almost started a thread about the California recall a few days ago...but I was to lazy. Anyway I am all for Arnie running for govenor, I also encourage all the various celebs, porn stars, construction workers, and plumbers in California that are interested in running to do so. Maybe Democracy in its purest will finally destroy the one glitch in our political system: Politicians running for political office...
