The Terminator/Politician (Arnold runs for Governor)

California has a lot of problems right now, and while I'm not an expert on politics I know that Gray Davis (our current Governor) is not capable of solving them. Him winning the last election was very controversial, and I haven't met anyone who admits to voting for him. I think that Arnold is just as qualified to take the office as anyone else, but his history with the Republican party gives him quite a bit of political experience. I wouldn't hesitate to vote for him, especially since the alternatives seem to be a porn star, a comedian and Gary Coleman...

Ergh. Doesn't it make you glad to live in California?

Hear hear, Shy. It's very annoying that things have to come to this here in California. The worst part is that (as I mentioned earlier) that Davis is actually suing to run as Governor again. He probably thinks it's a great injustice, but he has to realize that's what happens in the real world; you do a bad job, you get fired.

First Larry Flint said he was going to run for governor there, now Arnold is running, and to make matters worse Gary Coleman (Different Strokes) is running too! It's a sad day in politics when anyone whose famous can get on the ballot for the governorship.

Personally, I never thought Arnold was stupid. I have no knowledge of him speaking in public to base that kind of a guess off of.

I don't think he's incapable of running the state because he's an actor. I just don't know if he'll do a very good job with pulling us out of debt, because (as far as I know) he's held no prior political office. This is his time to shine and prove to the world that a former bodybuilding, nationalized immigrant can hold state legislative office in the US and do a good job at it. I mean, I don't think it's ever been done before.

It'd be kind of fun if Arnold ran for president, but that'll never happen.

Well, I've seen footage of arnold when he first got here... he was talking about why he didnt vote democrate in his first election - "I came here and the democratic party was saying the same things the socialist party in austria said." (This is pointed out to show that the t800 is a person who has paid attention to politics since he was my age.)

Regardless of that, I think this election will prove to be one thing...

A chance for moderate people to take california back from special intrest groups and politicians.

If a democrate from cali. is elected based on a partisan voter base, and a moderate with californias best intrest in mind is ignored based on his/her own political affiliations- california is in for more of the same... energy problems, special intrest groups reshaping the state (state and national parks are always of intrest to terrorist groups like the e.l.f.) and of course, we cant ignore the obvious pull of special intrest in the courts. (regional 9th circuit anyone!?) (not to mention the intrest groups ruining mtn. bikers lives in the marin area- another example of special intrest :D )

Basically, if cali. doesnt elect a moderate with the average person's intrest in mind, the state is gonna be in for more of the same. (the same being special intrest, energy crisis, and a percieved seperation from the nation on a cultural level, which has alienated some... "I pledge allegance..." -you get the point right.)

Good luck cali.

If arnold doesnt win, I hope some sort of moderate republican can take the masses of moderates in the north back to the polls and manage a win for the sake of cali's better good.

Of course, what do I know

This should be interesting. He is no doubt going to win. I mean with him it's a popularity contest if he runs. I know I would vote for him if I could. I know it might not be wise but it would be fun. ^^

I was watching the news today and in a user poll on Fox News Network it stated that 75% of California would vote for Arnold. I'm not trashing Arnold about running since he is in fact married to a Kennedy (Maria Schriver sp?) so he's probably picked up a thing or two about politics and how to run things. I just don't know how well he will do on the matter of executing his promises if elected.

Nope. Only natural born citizens can run for the office of President. Too bad, because I think his pro-business platform would really help our country out of a difficult period.

Man, it's so weird to think of Arnold as a politician....
