To any of you who are married...

I'm sure this is probably a dumb thread, but I'm bored and well I gotta ask...

I've noticed in many peoples sigs here at the OB that they are married to some other member. I just wondering if any of you who are married have actually met. When did you guys decide you wanted to get married?

I was also wondering who are some of your favorite married couples...even though I've never talked to either of them I think that Syk3 and Mei are adorable together. They just seem to burst with love for each other.

*pours salt on that wound* Mmm... that is the stuff.
When did you guys decide you wanted to get married?
*looks at signature* A few days before January 6, 2002; 7:21 PM Central Time. It would have been earlier, but we had to find a time when we were actually online at the same time.

She asked me somewhere if I would marry her, so I agreed. I have yet to regret it. =)

Tori could probably give better details if she posts here, since she is the one who initiated it.
I was also wondering who are some of your favorite married couples...
Tori and I, of course. We have probably been through more than any of the others.

I would say the only other couple I can think of that I would give any credit to is Syk3 and Mei. I envy their "young love" of which you spoke.

*grins* I like Syke and Mei, too. I'll be sure to show them this thread. Most of the members with "We're married" or whatever, in their sig, just do it for fun, like "internet wedding". Most of them aren't even of legal age. Some, like Tori and Piro do it to cement a friendship, and they have other bfs and gfs IRL. Others, like Mei and Syke, are a couple, dispite the distance. But They aren't actually married. ^^;;

I hoped that helped. But everyone else will have to tell you the story of how they got married online.

My favorite couple...is of course Syke and I.^^() Next would have to be Piro and Suki, just because of their bond, and how long they've stayed such wonderful friends.

Now..how Syke and I met. The first time we met was in an OB chat, we became friends, but weren't too close. We talked in chats every once and a while, and eventually, in one chat, we really started to get to know eachother.^^() Syke blurted out the question if I would marry him(which wasn't really serious then), and I said yes.

Of course, then Anakin wanted a wife, bugged us all night...but that's besides the point. We talked for the night, and got to know eachother even better.^^ We discovered how much we had in common, and how my fantasy boyfriend when I was little was named "Sky"..>>()

We eventually got married in yet another OB chat, dear Charlie as the minister, and we've stuck together ever since July 3rd, a little over a month.

I apologize for the rather blurry and incoherent post, but I couldn't help it.^^()

Are you sure about that?.... :smirk: Just joking Daigo, I'm sure you're very popular.

I didn't think there was any real process. I mean it's all just for fun anyway isn't it?

I wonder if anyone has gotten a divorce...

*huggles his Mei-koi* Before I get to the point, I'd like to thank all of you for your kind comments. ^_^;

To answer your first question, no, we have yet to meet, but we are indeed planning on doing it. It's one thing to fall into the off chance that you and an Otaku friend happen to be in the same place and are able to meet (even if it was Shy, that was awsome!), but it's quite another to try to meet a particular person, especially one that lives halfway across the country. However, my parents do want to take a trip to meet some of our friends who recently moved to her state, but we'll still be about two hours below where she lives. How to deal with this issue, you ask? Well, one way we can do it is by convincing my parents of things that are interesting to see up there, but a much more concievable way would be to drive up there myself, as I will have my liscense by then.

We decided to get married in an online chat, when I asked her only semi-seriously, even though I kind of liked her. Anakin was on this role thing about wanting to get married, and when he asked me, I hid behind Mei in a way and asked her to marry me. I never exactly got a straight answer (~_^) but later in the chat, it became more clear that she had accepted. Only shortly after that we started talking on AIM and finding out more that we had in common with each other, and as time went on, our love grew into what it is today; whereas we are married online, but in reality are trying to continue something of a long-distance relationship. So yeah, a couple of day later, we made a date and time for our marrige in an online chat which was absolutely HUGE, and had Charles as a minister. We really went all out. ^_^

I think it's safe to say that Mei and I are my favorite couple. I know it seems kind of selfish to say that...but I really see the chemistry between us, rather than people who have IRL boyfriends and girlfriends and are just getting married online for the heck of it and to, as Roxie said, cement a friendship. After us, however, I'm putting Piro and Asuka, just because they have had the longest running marraige and seem like a good couple, though oddly I've never seen them together...

So yeah. Despite what people say about internet relationships, and how they need to actually see someone and feel them to know that they're real, I know from experience that you can meet a great person online and hold a steady relationship. Though, honestly, if we could have this in real life it would be a dream come true. ^_^ *huggles and kisses Mei-koi some more*

NOTE: I don't remember going all out on a post like this one in a LONG time. o.o'

Nice thread..

I'd safely say that Syk and Mei really are my favorite OB couple.. I mean, I see a lot of great ones out there, but as stated before, Syk and Mei share a very special romantic bond.. Plus I speak with Syk frequently through means of AIM, and I can safely say that 95% of the time he is talking about Mei. And they aren't just kinda-sorta-inlike with each other.. ^_^ They are seriously all out. *sigh* If only I had been on OB when Syk and Mei were getting married. I bet that was great..

I'm married! My fav couple is definitly me and §corpio, and Sky3 and Mei. I've never met him, but I might. I'm gettin' his pic soon, too! Anywayz, I blush every time I talk about this. I... I proposed to him. Well, I brought the idea up. He actually asked, but it was mainly my idea. He can get most of the credit though. There. I think that answers your questions. Ask §corpio (my honey) if you wanna know more 'bout our marriage. Laterzez!

My favorite "online" couple is, hands down, Piro and Miss Tori.

Point one: There's something to be said for novelty....and endurance. 19 months is the online equivilent of what, ten years?
Point two: Piro's signature.
Point three: Family portraits
Points four through eight: Anna, Chester, Dexter, Orlando, and Pearl. [Gah, I couldn't for the life of me remember Orlando's name. Maybe it should be points four through seven-and-a-half. "Anna, Chester, Dexter, Pearl, and...that other kid."]

Guest Forbidden One
This may be out of context however...isn't it a bit weird...to have these online wedding things? I mean in the realistic sense it doesn't actually seem logical to do this even if its for fun...call me crazy though.. After all what are the chances any of you guys will actually ever speak offline? The chances are very slim, I admit. But still, it's just for fun, kinda. We "marry" cuz we like each other online, and online we try to be ourselves, right? So, if we DO meet OFFline, then if we were honest ONline, we'd still like eachother. Call me crazy, but that's a very reasonable logic in my opinion. (Even though the logic IS my opinion...)

Yeah, I know it isn't in my sig. But we're married. (for those of you who navigate otakuboards with your eyes tightly shut, we means The Harlequin and I).

I think I'll put it back in my sig. There we go...

Right. We met in person, beginning of year eight (three and a half years ago) and started going out very nearly two years ago (two year anniversary in seventeen days, 25/07, hooray hoorah!) and married online as a secondary thing. We're engaged in real life, too, and when we marry we very well may still be on OB, so I'll dig up this thread and edit this post in two or three years time when it happens. Looking forward to it, hooray again....

But, we did start talking on line, via email, and he first admitted his feelings for me on line too. The net is still a strong point of connection for us. And yes, I am the happiest person alive.

Sara, all I have to say is thank you. You made me feel very happy with that post. You have the most perfect way of putting things.

Well, since I am the female, I can always tell the story with much more detail. ;) It all started back in November 2001 when I joined the OB. Piro was one of those guys that was sort of mysterious and so I made it a point to talk to him. I started talking to him on AIM because he impressed me so much on the OB. As a joke I asked him to marry me. He was like "Seriously?" and I said "No, just as a joke." and so it started out as a joke, but funny how things change right?

We are closer than anyone else on the Otaku can be with one another. Sure, Syk and Mei may claim to have this undying love for one another, they are only 14 or so. It would be amazing if they stayed together. I remember the "undying love" I had for someone when I was that age. Lasted about a year and then was gone.

But as for me and Piro, he is my best friend around here. I love to talk to him and tell him things. If you don't talk to him, you're missing out!!!!! And yes, it has been over a year and a half, so I think we are definately the longest run and best couple.

By the way, Piro and I are the first and original Otaku Boards married couple. Everyone else just followed suit and no one else has endured as long as we have.

Yes, this is exactly what Roxie and I were talking about. For your relationship, it's more of a freindship thing, as you say. After all, you do have a boyfriend in real life. In this sense, I can see how you'd look at our, well, romantic relationship as comical and unstable (both of which I can assure you are completely false). There are different degrees of online marriges, and ours are aparently different from each other. One is to cement a friendship (such as yours, and Lady Asphyxia's), and the other is to cement a love interest (such as mine, and Ravenstorture's).

I just wondering if any of you who are married have actually met.

Nope, not yet >_< I think it would be very nice to, though. Well... save for my sword. Zeh married it to me rather spontaneously some while ago. Two of my wives live in Australia. Weh looks to be the only one I'll meet anytime soon, unless they have a Sesame Street convention with free flights to Australia.

When did you guys decide you wanted to get married?

When she asked me, hehe. Rain was my first wife, and Rae (Lady Asphyxia) was second. They both asked me kind of out of the blue. It was a nice surprise, though ^_^ And a good way to start a friendship, methinks.

I was also wondering who are some of your favorite married couples

Um... I'm not sure. I've never really spoken to many, but I think Syk and Mei are very good together. I know Queen Asuka and Piro are definately the definitive couple in terms of style, but I don't know either of them personally. They seem very nice people, though, and I've heard (and seen, heh) only good things.

It's nice that The Harlequin and Ravenstorture are an actual couple, though ^_^ That's always struck me as being slightly more outstanding than others.

Most people that are married online, I don't think that they actually see each other off line. Or if they do, I think that they might just not know it. Also if they do it'd have to be planed out carefully. Anyways, I think the best OB couple is Sky, and Mei. They're a really great couple. I've never talked to either one of them though, but they still seem like the best couple on OB to me. I just think they have a really strong marriage.

*Stares at DBD and spotg67* Geez...haven't you two been reading? Nvm, I'm gonna shut up. Because I have no clue on this subject eaither. *shuts up, runs off*
