satan665
hey does anybody here read Blade? It is by far my favorite comic ever and it got me started into reading manga and watching more anime. It is about a ronin who was "cursed" to be immortal, which he says he will be able to die after killing 1000 evil men. He winds up protecting a young girl (Rin) who is not a particularly strong swordswoman who is seeking revenge against the man who slaughtered her family. Its B/W comic which is amazingly and realistically drawn. There ar also some really brutal battles, since the main character (Manji) cannot be killed even if limbs are chopped off. If you can handle mad violence it is the best comic. Its not pointless killing either, the story and characters are great. If any of you are reading blade already, do you think that Rin and Anotsu are going to fight soon? It seems to be what its building to. I just want to find some Blade fans to chat with. tattoi nobori
Well, that was... profound, Blastmon. ?_? I love Blade of the Immortal! I got into it when I found a beat-up copy of the "Heart of Darkness" trade paperback lying around, and immediately went and tracked down the rest of the series. I've been collecting the TPB's, but what with school and all, it's slow going. Ah, the joys of being a broke college student. ?_?
satan665
Wow, I didn't think that anyone here knew what I was talking about since nobody replied for so long. Its pretty much the same way I got into Blade. It is just so ridiculously good I jump around when I know a new comic is coming out, but it takes soooo long for the story to unfold one comic at a time. Shira is introduced in heart of darkness, and he is one messed up ronin. If you're only reading the TP's then you have only scratched the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Shira's story. I'm excited for you...its just insane!

tattoi nobori
665, have you been collecting the individual comics? And what do you mean, 'tip of the iceberg'? I was under the impression that the TPB's collected all the issues; I gonna cry if I have to go buy more comics just to get the whole story! ;_;
satan665
Well, the trade paperbacks have only gotten so far. The "Beasts" TP was the last to come out. I just buy the individual comics when they hit the stores, I started collecting from "the gathering". The collected books have every story in the comics, don't worry you haven't missed anything. Its just that the last 10 or so comics that have come out which haven't been put into TP's yet are really great. Shira appears in: heart of darkness, dark shadows, and again in beasts. The next collection is going to be called fall frost and thats where you get to learn more about Shira. I got really into Blade so I can't wait for the collections to come out, so I buy the comics. I even tracked down every back-issue because I love the art on the covers...plus am semi-obsessed. I wish I could talk more about the story but I don't want to spoil it for you. Guest Tical
Ive read the first GN and it was great! I love the ultra-violance (sp?) the series only has 2 flaws in my opinion, 1: Its to demented and dark, theres only 2 funny parts. 2: Its a bit sexual which doesnt appeal to me (blech)
Zen
I read about it in Wizard Magazine. I thought it sounded excellent and if i could find it i would buy it.
tattoi nobori
The collected books have every story in the comics, don't worry you haven't missed anything.
*whew!* that's cool, i can deal with that... I wish I could afford to buy the individual comics, but..! Such is life. ?_? You know, I kind of feel the same way about Mugen no Jyuunin as I did when I first started collecting Bone! With both series, I'm almost hesitant to show it to anybody, or at least, I'm very selective about who I show it to; because I feel like if they don't get it, then I've failed in some way and they've missed out on something wonderful... Anybody else feel like that?
