Semjaza
Does anyone else even listen to The Roots or Handsome Boy Modeling School? I've not seen anyone else mention them. I know NERD and Akrobatic have been mentioned in other threads before. I should also say Beastie Boys, no matter what you think of them. Paul's Boutique is still groundbreaking. Manic Webb
Well, I haven't really listed anyone yet. I was afraid that listing favorite rappers would errupt into a flame war... again. Yeah, I like The Roots. I've liked them ever since they did "You Got Me" with Erykah Badu some odd years ago. They're a really unique band, and I can't see why more rappers don't turn to using live instruments like they do. I know that most producers have a more-than-basic knowledge of musical theory. I also like Outkast. They're ginuinely good rappers, and they can write a song with a message in it without boring the hell out of you. Missy Elliott. I know that a lot of people think she's some crazy producer-turned-rapper, but she really deserves more credit than that. She writes and produces her own music, and does the same for many R&B singers. Monica's and Mya's latest albums were done by Missy. Aaliyah (rest her soul) was using Missy and Timbaland as her main producers and writers since her second album. Missy is really talented, and her style of rapper has a lot of old school flavor to it that very few people use anymore. Floetry is good, although the "rapper" of the group is technically a spoken-word poet. We don't get very many hip-hop/R&B acts coming to the States from the UK. Floetry is a really good group, and I hope there are more out there where they came from.

BlueGender
I like alot of rap, my favorite rappers/rap groups are Eminem, Canibus, Jay-Z, Royce Da 5'9(I really wish him and Eminem would make up, When Bad Meets Evil made tons of great music) Nas, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, DMX, Dr. Dre, Xzibit, Obie-Trice, D-12 (some of there newer stuff, when they first came out they were kinda just a shock value rap group),Mobb Deep (I enjoy there older stuff Shook One will always be a classic in my eyes), Wu-Tang Clan (Some of there first songs were real nice recently thought i haven't heard much I like from them). Yeah I know all the people I mentioned with the exception of Canibus and Royce Da 5'9 are mainstream but i really haven't heard much underground stuff I could get into.

Gohan Egret
If he was not
dead
than maybe people would have heard of him/listened to his rhymes. Yes, Dre, Ice Cube, Snoop, and Eazy E (and a DJ..DJ Mike?) were all part of the N.W.A. and were (I think still are) planning a reunion CD.

Manic Webb
I was thinking... Punk fans like to sub-genre punk music by saying that all bands who call themselves punk and play more pop-like music aren't punk at all, but are pop-punk. By that logic, I say that artists like Ja Rule, Nelly, 50 Cent, and Puffy/P.Diddy are in no way hip-hop.. Their music is all some form of "pop" that vaguely resembles real hip-hop artists like Mos Def and Run DMC. Hip-pop, I believe it's called. Guest Tical
I like rap rock like my favorite band LINKIN PARK!!!!! But otherwise I like Eminem, Ludacris, some P. Guest Fly-T
Yea...Eazy-E was the dogg for the hot minute...I can flow real sick but i aint rally no different from gangsta or hardcore rap for the most part(my style was like nerd intelligent but no one was feeling it and understandin it). I dont really focus on the topic of gun bustin, girl bangin, dro smokin, stuff....I really listen to nothin much but Unerground, I only listen to several good mainstream rap... (Rakim remains the BEST). And I really have no problem with gangsta rappers talking about whatever as long as they have that one thing...GOOD LYRICS... IloveBebop
Originally posted by Sharpie I stand firmly by my "you can't spell crap without rap" solgan. I hate rap.
"You can't spell crap without rap?" That's got to be the dumbest slogan I've ever heard. And if you want to talk about how much you hate rap, then you can talk about it in some different message boards.
IloveBebop
Rap can be about anything, rappers just choose to rap about that kind of stuff. Eminem is definitely a rapper worth listening to, he raps about reality. Any kind of music, except for the blues, can be about anything. The blues is about sadness in a persons heart, but that has nothing to do with rap.
shahi
I like rap hip hop and classical music but I like oid school rap a little better than the rap I hear today because it was a little less violent at least the songs I heard the olny rapper I don't like is 50 cent if yall say I'm hating I don't care but he said something stupid at the bet awards that made him sound ignorant
Drix D'Zanth
To be honest rap and country are the only two forms of music I don't like. I hold nothing against those who do like rap, it's just not my style. I would suggest though trying other forms of music besides rap. My playlist tends to look something like this: 1) Closer- Nine Inch Nails 2) Autumn Leaves- Eva Cassidy 3) Requiem, movement 1 - Mozart 4) Mustang Sally - Buddy Guy 5) Smack my B---- up - Prodigy 6) Let's get it on - Marvin Gaye (OOOOOH YA ;) ) 7) My Tourniquet - Evanescence. As you can see.. i like most styles of music :\ . Oh well, just give these songs a try, you wont regret it!
