OOC: For simplicity's sake I'm just going to use the "darkblue" tag ^_^;;
~~~~~~
Having turned and stormed off, Kieran turned back to Marcus. "I said it was mine!" he pouted.
"So you've said." Marcus sounded decidedly harassed. "Several times."
Sighing, Kieran shook his head. "Let me see your shoulder."
"I didn't think you'd noticed."
"Everyone assumes things about me." Still shaking his head slightly, Kieran rested his staff on the ground and made a motion with a hand. "There... if there was anything wrong it should be better now."
Marcus blinked as the slight sparkle faded, but already Kieran was making off towards where the rest of the group had started to move along, twittering amongst themselves.
Leaving Lalo and Marcus behind him, Kieran took a kind of middle ground, his brow furrowed in apparent thought. But what he was really doing was searching. For what, he wasn't sure. He sent his awareness in small threads into the ground, into the nature around them in the Jungle Zone. It was all so... real. So... there. This is a game. he reminded himself forcefully. It seemed he was having to do that alot lately.
He felt his awareness creep through the sleeping trees, ticklish grasses, drowsy animals. It was still early... at least in the Delta world it was. He'd lost all account of time in the "real world". It wasn't something he wanted to dwell on.
Then... he found what was following them. Or rather it had found him.
It was over in seconds. The second of several big cats leapt out of the overgrowth as he passed by, Kieran's "sense-lines" being the only things to forewarn him enough to throw out a hand in startled defence. Inexplicably, the cat was now tied up in a thick net of vines which had suddenly converged on it in Kieran's panic. Almost like a restraining hand holding it back.
Having fallen in his surprise, Kieran swallowed hard, his gaze not shifting from the angry, snarling, thrashing cat, held back by the vines. How long they would hold was any man's guess. "Well," he croaked. "There's the second one..." Ominously, one of the vines creaked. "A little help here?!"
OOC: What I'm working on with Ki is "life forces" -- he can sense a "soul" or a life-force (whether it's simulated or not). Just in case anyone was confused or wanted to use that in a post or something ^_^;;
Yuriko followed the group in and they sat down trying to discuss a way to search the Delta Region and clear their names.
"We need to gather as much info as possible." Theon started.
"Well how are we really gonna do that with everyone after us?" Yuriko asked quickly, the other nodded in agreement but Theon soon had an answer.
"I say we start in the small towns and possibly split up, but we will all have something to say about that first. But for sure before we make any major moves we need to gather more supplies, better weapons and much more experience."
"All we have done is fought," Elec said, " What more good would it do but draw more attention to us."
"He is right," Thortodog looked at her companions." I mean people are still looking for us and the more we fight the more people that will come after us. We need to really think about this Theon. I know it been a year and I really want to get out of here but we gotta do this right or will be stuck here forever."
Everyone including Theon agreed with her.
"Well then give me your opinons, I want to know what you really feel about this?"
Theon looked at Yuriko first. She looked back and stared at him trying to read what he was saying. She couldn't continue to look at him and turned away for a minute. Soon she spoke up breaking the small amount of silence tht fell before them.
"To put it simply I dont what we could co. People know all of our face, we may need disquises or something to go around but I'm not gonna hide myself from foolish people."
Yuriko began to speak, with many emotions coming from within her.
"I mean we could try to find people who would like to help us out but many of them wuld betray us at first site. We really need to find out about Callipso first, he may have staged the disapprance and then is planning something more. I mean what if he really wants to trap us here."
"Please," Aymelak said. "I think Callipso isn't that crazy. Soon people on the outside would also be looking for him. He wont be able to get away with this for long."
OOC: LEH, do you have a sort of rough copy of a map with cities that we could go by that way we know how the Delta World looks?
Marcus turned sharply in the direction of the cry, starting slightly at the sight of the big cat ensnared with a panicked Kieran lying underneith it. Dashing over he brandished his sword and reached down to grab at the boy's shirt, hauling him to his feet.
"Interesting trick." He glanced askance at the boy who was staring wide eyed at the beast tangled in the vines. The cat roared it's defiance, lashing at the vines with unsheathed claws, it's struggles loosening the vines with each movement. Stepping forward Marcus lowered his sword to the cat. Thrusting his blade forward he skewered the cat through the heart, ceasing it's enraged struggles "Sleep well," he murmered softly.
Turning back to Kieran he patted him warmly on the shoulder with a gloved hand before passing him to join the others. Kieran blinked at the dead beast and watched the experience points add to Marcus' total. Frowning he stared at the numbers as they disappeared. Turning abruptly he watched Marcus saunter away.
"Hey!!" He shouted angrily "You stole my points...again!"
Marcus turned to look over his shoulder, a small smirk playing about his lips and winked.
Joshua stood on the rock over looking the gigantic waterfall and lower lake. With his scythe in his hand, his eyes gracefully scanned the content.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" said the small voice of Silth.
"Yes, indeed," said Joshua. The rest of the team came behind him, each ready to do what Joshua commanded.
"It's about time we're here," said Lalo as the lake in front of them began to fade. The ground turned into an endless pit of green data, the jungle around them into black walls. A large screen appeared in front of them, and said:
Choose Your Destination_
"Show us the news," said Joshua. Dozens of files showed as the news from the Real World still rambled about the trapped players. Joshua and the whole team sighed. This wasn't new news. This was old news.
"See if anything has turned up about the kidnappers," said Kieran.
"Show us 'News About Callipso'," said Joshua. The screen loaded and the report was:
As of recently, nothing new has been found about the kidnapping of Callipso. With that in mind, Callipso's Guards have been going through a strenuous sorting to find members of Delta to search and find Callipso. And now, the members are the following:
Team Alpha Delta Beta- Joshua Wires, Marcus Belial, Kieran Vashti, Lalo Grey, Silth.
Team Sigma Fi Omega- Tortodog X, Zohan Kiyote, Aymelek Nitika, Elec Ryu, Yuriko Matsura
Team Gemini- Star Mariotta, BashFlare
Team Giga Omega Ki- Silvanus, Lyzdaika, Xander
To release suspician of the kidnapping, Sigma has agreed to help. If these players will please come to the Highrule Castle Sector, we will tell you what to do.
The group stood, shocked. They...they were to find Callipso. But how?!?
---
Sorry, but I just realized Sigma Fi Omega had six people, so I had to evict Lan. Sorry I didn't catch it before.
Silvanus: Is this irony? Or..
He had avoided the group that was hunting throughout the jungle with someease. Sitting, he had been watching the players near the waterfall- and the news that was read. Glanceing down to the players, his eyes glanced back into the forest to the small headquarters. Parting the foliage, he opened the door and grabbed a small parchment. Using his finger, he wrote a small message with the aid of his energies about the news and the postponement of the meeting intill further notice.
The note firmly placed on the door, Silvanus sat on the edge of the waterfall quietly, drifting into his thoughts- completely ignoreing the party below him, whos discussions had distracted them from him- for now.
He brought up the news file about the slaughter of the band of theifs, which had apparently been witnessed by some form of person. The articles the players wrote, detailing journeys they had, were beautifully written- and this detailed story of the lone mage standing up to greedy theives was made even better by the fact it was the first time he had been in something other than game news in a few months.
Silently, he read the news for himself as well- just to confirm that he was on the list.
Silvanus: Clever.
His eyes drifted to the party, eyebrow raised. The first outsiders in months to get this far- surely they deserved some form of praise. But he had a double agenda- he wanted to know who they were on the list of players they had chosen.
Silvanus: And perhaps size them up- assess the threat level.. yes. I best hurry, they might not like me just spying on them.
Silth still stared at the newsboard.
What the heck was this? How were they supposed to help in the case?
"Why would they choose us?" she asked softly.
Joshua shrugged. "Ability level, I suppose. We've advanced very quickly indeed."
Silth shouldered her bow. Advancement wasn't the only thing needed for a mission of this multitude. No one knew anything about the kidnappers, so how were they supposed to?
The Delta world was massive and even some of the most advanced players haven't seen all of it. Stories of unknown danger and mystery were shrouded everywhere. Precocious creatures dwelled in the Delta world, thriving on bloodlust. What or where exactly they would come up was anyone's guess.
"So, are we going?" she asked Joshua. "I mean, it doesn't look like any of our business."
"Are you kidding?" demanded Marcus. "We don't find Callipso, we can safely call this home forever. I mean, this place is fun and all, but I don't intend to die here."
There was a point. Every player would be trapped here for uncertain eternity if Callipso wasn't found. Already skirmishes and fights were erupting in certain parts of the Delta.
"So, when do we leave?" Silth looked at the scythe weilding leader who was deep in thought. It was his desicion after all.
Yuriko's heart skipped a beat when she heard the announcement.
"Yes, yes we may finnaly be set free of the name this world has put on us."
For a moment she could feel everyone's eyes looking upon her as if she was crazy.
"Ooops, sorry I always get over dramatic when I hear things like that."
The rest of her group fell on their backs, legs sticking up in the air hearing such a thing. Soon the all regained their composure and talked about the sudden announcment.
"So do you think its a trick?" Aymelak asked.
"Who knows but at least we ave an idea of where to start,"Theon added.
"I just hope they hae some clues at to where to find Callipso. Man this year has been crazy, all I can say is about time." Tortodog addad.
"I think we all feel that way, but when should we set out?"
"SOON," everyone agreed and answered in unison.
"So shall we just warp there or go to the small town and restock."
"Lets restock, we don't want it to be a trick and we're unprepeared," Amyelak said. The other nodded their heads and they continued to rest for the evening befroe setting out in the morning.
OOC: Okay this is my last post for a week because I'm going on vacation today and I won't be back until next saturday. You can control my character, I just don't wanna come back and find he's missing a limb or an eye or something lol ^_~.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Marcus ran his gloved fingers through his long hair, a small frown creasing his brow. Why would they put them. Joshua might be right, it might be because of the levels, but surely there were those in this game of a higher level than they? Surely.
Ah well, at least it gave them something to do now, instead of wandering the many sectors of the game with little purpous other than to slay beasts and battle players. And what if Callipso were found? Would they go home, to a world they hadn't know for nigh on a year?
Marcus shook his head and clasped the hilt of his rapier in a comforting gesture. The outside world. What had happened in a year? Who was President? Who was Prime Minister? What of war? Hell he'd missed the release of T3, something he'd been waiting to see for months before he'd got stuck in this place. Exhaling a soft sigh he turned to look at Joshua.
"I Guess We're it."
Lyzdaika looked through the trees. A group of people were near the waterfall, he made his way around them, Shadow Panther followed. No one from Giga Omega Ki seemed to be around. This was strange, he was sure he was late, but he wasn't so late that his team would have left without him. Best course of action for Lyzdaika was to wait at the top of the waterfall if his teammates came later than him, he had the best chance of spotting them from there.
He had not reached the top when he notticed the team, who hunted nearby, leave. Not many people came here, it seemed wierd for them to leave in such a hurry, after finding a utopic place like this waterfall. Lyzdaika shrugged it off, they probbably had something better to do.
Only then he remembered the special compartement in the foliage, he ran his hand through the leaves untill he bumped into the door. He oppened it, a new note was there. He took the parchement out and read it. He skipped through the part that said that the meating was postponed and stoped when it mentioned Calipso. He hadn't checked the news for quite some time. the thought that he could have missed a chance to atleast try and do something about escaping this place, startled him. He read it through carefuly and then, without a brake, he accesed the "Message Menu" and picked "Send a message to off game party".
"She has to know about this," he told to himself.
* * *
There were no players around and except the usual nature sounds, it was silent. Lyzdaika , realized how long he had spent there. He had built a fire and now was feeding it with magick, soon it turned as hot as a furnace, but it didn't make any difference to him. He pulled out the coins, he consfiskated from the ninja he met in the forest and placed them in the fire. Slowly they became softer, he took them and forged them with his bare hands. Flames avoided touching his skin, even when they did there was no effect. He pressed the coins together forming a golden chain, finaly he took the both ends of it and connected them to the gem he took from the ninjas sword. He took a moment to admire his own work and placed it water, as he did that balls of steam rose upwards.
"Come here girl," Lyzdaika called his Shadow Panther. Lazily, she got up and made her way towards him. He pulled out the now hardened neclace, the cat lowered her head slightly. "Ok now, here!" he got it arround her neck, with that her level went up a bit. She let out a warm purr to show her pride, but sudennly she jumped, someone was walking nearbays.
"Xander?"
A gregorious looking man walked out into the clearing.
ooc: Hey all, sorry I didn't get to an Internet cafe but I better get this up again ^_^
IC:
Tortodog grinned, talking talking talking that's all they ever seemed to do nowadays. Before all of this bussiness with being locked in they had just gone where they pleased without much argument. She rose and streatched, "Well I ain't going to sit around here much longer and chat about what we're going to do. If we're going to go and re-stock then we'd better hurry up and do it or those other teams will think that we're being our stereotypical selves" she said, knowing the questions that were coming her way.
Zohan stared at her in amazement, "Torto are you feeling okay?"
Tortodog glared hapazardly at him, "Yes Zohan I'm fine, we've just ended up sitting here like a bunch of idiots just talking again. We weren't always like this. We do what we want, when we wanted. We didn't discuss, we just did," she paused and saw the look of Yuriko's face, "..Okay I know it got us a bad name, and I accept that. But if we want to clear our names then we've got to appear to be a little bit ready and willing. So we've been teamed up with people who we don't know or have cause problems to. So what! If they've got a problem with us, they've got a problem with us. We never cared about the reputation, we just were what we were. Players in a game, playing out whatever we felt like. Now we can go and show the world that we're not the bad guys this time. I want to get out of this mess, all of you want to get out of this mess, the other teams want to get out of this mess...heck everyone wants to.
Can you imagin what it'll be like to find the guy, prove to the entire Delta world that we didn't kiddnap him?" she paused again and shook her head and sighed. She turned and started to head out, listening for any sound, there was none.
She paused on the pourch and listened again, "Are you lot coming or what? Or are we going to sit here and mop and whine and go on about the old days again?" she asked, without turning around.
