I own the DVD. It's another example of a simply excellent show being cancelled. I'm surprised it isn't more well known, considering it debuted after the Super Bowl one year.

I must have watched each disc like 20 times. The first few times it's a bit eh, and slightly jarring. Once you get used to it's style, it's awesome though. It's like Family Guy in a sense, they don't hold any punches at all.

I really wish some channel would get this show and make new episodes. Adult Swim would be a nice fit.

I don't think I'll ever forget the courtroom episode. Every last bit of it is totally classic. The basketball team jurors, Randall and his racist comments, Grant Hill (I think, I forget) getting excited because he was given $5 for breakfast during the trial... and the whole Korean animator thing at the end.

Everyone should see this show. One of the best animated series ever created.

I think the best part of that episode was all the jabs at anime in it (even if it was Korean lol). There is an episode of Dexter's Laboratory like that as well. I mostly remember this part where the lady spends like two minutes speaking very quickly to explain something. I've seen so much anime do the same thing lol. People here should see it, since anime is so unexplainably popular here.

Some more pictures:

Another favorite scene of mine is in, I think, the Outbreak episode. They go to meet Patrick Swayze, who for some reason runs a pet shop and still dresses like he did in dirty dancing. They didn't even attempt to copy his voice lol. Gilbert Gottfried just used his normal voice, which just makes it so damn funny to me.

HAHAHAHAHAHA or the first episode.
Plug: sir quick stop just went up by 1000%
leonardo: bring this quick stop to me
plug: sir its a store
L: bring it (breaks a piece of wood)
P: how about the two kids who work there instead?
L:alright for now

Or the best part ever.
Leonardo: i want you lock stock and barrel
Randal: is this some sort of gay thing?
L: no
R: are you sure?
L: Y.y.y.yes

Clerks was such a great cartoon. They were actually showing it on comedy central a couple of months ago. The show was so completely doomed to fail though. They showed two episodes out of order. The one that they showed of them locked in the freezer was full of flashbacks to another episode before it which of course never aired. If that wasn't bad enough it was aired on ABc which was disney owned. The scene where they showed the Korean animators being whipped by a huge mouse didn't go over too well (as was the rumor). A fine couple of episodes though.

I heard about this a few days ago form one of my friends. Being the big Kevin Smith fan I am (Mallrats is one of my favorite movies) I downloaded the first and second episode.

From what I'm reading here they seem to have been mis-labeled on Kazaa. o_O I got the one where they are locked in the freezer and the one where Jay sues them for 10 Million dollars.

The Korean animation thing was ******* hilarious. -.- I need to find the DVD. :p

No offense, but Kevin Smith should've known better than to distribute the show to ABC. How many mature animated series do see on Disney? I think Jay Sherman (from "The Critic") put it best:

Jay: I used to have a show on ABC... for about a week.

Anyway, I saw an episode a few months back on Comedy Central. It was the courtroom one.

"The honorable Judge Reinhold." :) Classic.

The DVD is easy to find. I got mine at Blockbuster like the week it came out. Places like Best Buy always have it in stock.

I'm really surprised to see people interested in this. In my general everyday life, I've yet to meet someone that even has heard of it. Sad world.

yah hook was. I wonder which movie Randel didn't like that the black guy made (couldn't figure out his name)
Leonardo: I don't understand these instructions. It didn't look like this in the catalog.
Plug: Sir I'd be happy to order you a desk. Maybe a nice antique one. Humm?
Leonardo: Why don't I throw my money out the window? Humm? I think I'll stick with Ikea. The Blork. Bleached oak. Seventy-nine dollars. Now, where did i put that dowel?

I saw the first one or two episodes, and frankly I loved it. I always laugh my *** off when watching them...
And yeah, the Korean animation thing was pure hilarity.
I've been told I'd love Kevin Smith...I should really watch Dogma before my friends kill me...

Spike Lee.

Personally, I've never been able to sit through an of his movies (at least the ones I know that he made. I think he might have made some that I liked but didn't realize that he made it. *shrug*). Can't name them, though.

Kevin Smith is a good writer, but a very dull director, I think. I still think Dogma is overrated. Feels too much like some high school thesis on what's wrong with religion. I personally prefer Mallrats.

I've never been able to figure out who one of the guys at the trial is. There's of course Spike Lee, Spielberg, Lucas... but who is the small guy with the brown hair?

He doesn't look specifically like anyone I can think of. I thought it was Woody Allen at first, but he doesn't look like that.

Any help?

It's true some camera angles he uses suck, and he uses a lot of shots from the same angle. But other than that he is awesome.

I perfer Mallrats to Dogma too. But Dogma isn't over-rated, it's one of my favorite movies (only Donnie Darko, Mallrats, Spiderman, Matrix, and Boondock Saints beat it). It did get a bit confusing, seeing as how I'm quite young. But I found the religion aspect very interesting.

I've never understood why he doesn't just let the cinematographer take care of the camera angles, honestly. It would probably improve the effect of the film. Oh well.
That's just his style. His camera angles is what won him that award for Clerks and pretty much rocketed him on the mainscreen.

I can't see why anyone that knew much about film would give an award to him for that of all things. It's the main thing any critic/whatever harps on as the biggest when they review or even just refer to his films. If anything, I'd assume he'd get something for the writing in general... He is also a good character director.

He has defintitely done things to correct the camera stuff too, so I doubt it's completely his style... more of that mixed with his inexperience. In any case, I'm not overly fond of the style. It works for stuff like Mallrats and Clerks, but not for something like Dogma. Just opinions of course.
