It all depends on if the topic could go anywhere.. Technically, Favorite topics are not permitted on this forum due to problems in the past. But if a general descusion can be created about it, Then it will be alright. A 'Favorite Recipe' thread should be able to generate some type of descussion. If you still are unsure, Just ask a moderator if they believe it would be allowed, They know more than anybody if something can be posted.

If I remember the policy on favorites threads correctly, it would be spam if that was the only thing you said in the thread, something like "what is your favorite recipe, mine is the one for chicken soup yum!" would be spam.

Something like "What is your favorite recipe? and what does it take to make it, an why do you like it", and perhaps ask for some stories regarding the topic in general would be okay, in the early iterations of OB people were bombarded with favorites threads, so it's kind of boring, just remember to add variety and acceptable discussion points, you should be fine. In the Anime Lounge thread there is a sticky post at the top that shows the difference between "Spam favorite" and "Proper favorite" threads. Basically, if you provide a good description of why it is your favorite everything should be okay.

For you favorite recipes thread I would suggest asking people to post suggestions on changes that can be made to the orginal recipe. That way there is something to discuss. (Just an idea)

I think a recipe topic would rock, quite honestly.

This is going to repeat some things...

Favorites topics in general are discouraged, but it depends on where they go. Things have to result in discussion and not just lists.

If you ask for favorite recipes and someone just says "Chicken Pot Pie!", well then the topic is already on its way to sucking. Others just follow suit.

Something where you actually say how to make it and so on, I don't see the problem.

Anyway, I'd have no problem with it... I don't see why any other mod would. If it gets bad, it gets closed. Simple as that, I guess lol.

Perish the thought :p Religion threads usually just end up in bickering, If you read the last one, you'll see why I was asked not to create one.

I would not be upset If I never saw another of those blasted things again.

Post about religion always end up like that, unfortunately. Things have been so bad in that respect at another board I frequent that all posts relating to real life religion and politics have been completely banned and are closed immediately by any mod/admin.

I guess what I am saying is that I would suggest against starting a religion thread. They tend to draw people that feel the need to argue.
