Trigun 11
Okay... I am writing a term paper for english.. I know but I'm wanting to get it done with so i can focus on my computer classes and my sports "career".I'm writing about why girls should be allowed to or shouldnt be allowed to play football. So all I need now is opinions from my fellow OB's . Start away. P.S. I wont get mad at the things you type. Say if you dont believe girls should play football because it's a guys sport. I disagree with that but I know it's your opinion. So Go ahead and just say it... I wont get offended BTW It's NFL and junior/senior high football that i'm refering to. Semjaza
(She said NFL - National Football League, as in US Football). Wait. You want to know if girls should be able to play in the NFL? I think school or even just organized sports are one thing, but not professional level. The size of those guys makes most girls (and even many, many men), even the ones who want to play football, look half the size. They'd get killed. Gradeschool, I don't see a problem. High school either really. I think by high school, though, you have to really keep them seperate or not bother. Doing a seperate female or co-ed team is cool by me, but I don't think it should interfere with the guys' team on top of that. Vice-versa with traditional girls' sports. Even on the college level, I think it's not something worth doing. Guys generally have years and years of experience. You can't just stick a girl in there that has been playing flag football with her friends or something. Even assuming she was a great player, how would it work? She'd have no real, official history on it since any highschool I can think of only allows boys on the teams. On top of that, being on a team in the past myself, the facilities aren't exactly accomodating for women. Sure schools have seperate locker rooms... but no NFL team does. They'd have to spend tons of money just redesigning the place in the vague hope that women would even want to do it. If for some bizarre reason there was enough interest in an all-female or co-ed official, national league... then I think they should be kept seperate from the NFL itself. I can't see there ever being interest on that level. Look at the "success" of the WNBA. Viewers aren't interested obviously. On top of that, I can't see enough women being interested in the first place...especially because schools don't offer it in the first place. How would they draft? Whoever just feels like showing up? We don't have to apply these ridiculous politically correct, equal opportunity, affirmative action ideas to every last thing on the planet. So yeah, seperate for NFL and graduate level stuff... otherwise, I don't see a problem.
tattoi nobori
I don't see anything wrong with girls playing in the NFL, if they can hack it. Then again, that would have to be one burly girl! ?_? Wait, no, I take it back... I think girls should be allowed to drive the bulldozers that tear down NFL stadiums to make room for motorball! Jashugaaaaan!! instantramen14
I have to say that bieng in a coed leauge wiouldnt bee all that great cuz, like semjaza said, the nfl guys are huge and there would be alot of injuries. But there is an unofficial foot ball leauge for women in the US. They have large turnout for tryouts. Mabey a seperate leauge. Well thats my two cents. ladyscorp2006
OMG Right here in Vallejo there is a GIRL QUARTER BACK on the little league football team. She is really good, but when she grows up she will have to play for my uncle, and he doesn't want a GIRL on his team because she has no future in it. Who knows she might be the first girl to play in the NFL. And besides they used to have a girl football league but it didn't get any funding. People thought girls were to delicate. But in Southern California they have a girls high school football team that plays against the boys. And they are really good. But you don't hear about them why I don't know. So the whole point behind me posting all this stuff about girls in football is because it would be really good if they would get girl football back up again. Kei
There actually happens to be a few girls on some of the high school football teams where I live, and they do pretty well for themselves from what I've seen. I'm kind of at a conflict on this. On one hand, I think girls should be able to play if they want to, but on the other, I know that if that were to happen, the sport just wouldn't be the same. Many things would have to change in the manner of gameplay, and as big a fan as I am, that's the last thing I want to see. So, I guess I would have to say that, as long as the girl has enough experience and talent to play on Little League and high school teams, that's all well and good, but as far as the NFL, I wouldn't try it.
eino89
I think that girls should be allowed to play it. There is nothing wrong with it. I've seen some girls play football, and they were better than a lot of the guys. If a girl decides they want to play why shouldn't they be allowed. Its there desition.
satan665
I think that realistically a woman would make a good Kicker or punter in the NFL. That would be the easiest position for the first female NFL player. I wonder if the NFL has any official rules about female players, I doubt that there are but I don't know. Its such a man's sport that it would be really contraversial to have a female player. I think it would be cool though. It might just happen. Baron Samedi
This is like Aussie Rugby, right? At school level, I don't see much of a problem, but keep any competitive 'teams' separate. So, for normal P.E It would be ok, my school does it, Boys Vs. Girls in Soccer, or mixed teams. But on a state, national, [insert high level play here] kind of game, Women and Men should be separated for Injuries sake.
Guest Crimson Spider
Well, I think that girls shouldn't play football, especially against boys, is simply because a girl's body is only 25% muscle, comparing to the 50% that guys have. That would mean that there isn't as much pushing, or shoving. Basically, not really as entertaining. And since it is almost a testosterone based audience, women doing so wouldn't attract quite the crowd. Also, women have more soft tissue for the purpose soley of having kids. Now, without the extra muscle, it is easier for a women to get hurt, and out of the game. Meaning that not only is it more of a health risk, but also means that there would have to be a lot of replacement players. Also, women are more emotional than guys, which is a good thing mind you. The point is that each time my mothers team gets far, then loses in the playoffs, she cries. Now, I get the feeling that there are many women that would do the same, even when they are playing the game. They would then realize that this specific profession is not making them happy, but miserable. Meaning that many would quit. Of course, this whole paragraph is a theory based on very little data.
