Burori
I WAS JUST AT MY CARD STORE TODAY AND THE OWNER WHO IS CARD PLAYER ALSO SAYS THAT YUGIOH THE CARD GAME WILL BE DEAD SOON. I FEEL THAT YUGIOH WILL NEVER DIE. WHAT DO YOU THINK DO YOU THINK ITS DEAD OR SHOULD BE?
Domon
O_o;;; Big letters...Headache insuing. Anyways, I do think that YGO will die eventually but for now it's having a good run and also its so popular because there is a TV series and we have only begun on the series so I do believe that we've got quite awhile before YGO goes dead but it will happen eventually. I mean look at Magic, it isn't played that much but there are hardcore fans that still play it and people still like it.
Burori
sorry about the large letters I realised that I had my capslock on the entire time. I feel though that it's not fair that the card game is dying now because I wanted to sell my rare yu-gi-oh cards on ebay. soon they wont be worth anything. Solo Tremaine
I don't think you have to worry about them dying that soon. I think it'll be popular for a good while yet, providing of course that 4Kids continues to dub the anime episodes in a relatively pure (i.e. unedited) format, and that the cards coming up have more interesting designs. The most popular and sought-after cards still haven't been translated into English yet: Dark Magician Girl, Magician of Black Chaos, Black Luster Soldier, BEUD. I'm sure there most people are waiting on baited breath for any news on their English releases. Only after that will there be any risk of the CCG dying out, I should imagine. Kitty
I think Yu-Gi-Oh is just like Pokemon. It has a lot of publicity, merchandise, and series. It'll get REALLY big (if it's peak isn't right now) then slowly die down. Just to say, Pokemon still has many fans, but not as many. The same will probably happen to Yu-Gi-Oh. The cards are very popular. Not only is it a good way to promote the show, it also gives kids a card game that is very easy to learn. Well... at least kids can learn it... Anywayz, the cards also give non-fans 'cute' creatures. I know this because a cousin of mine hates everything about Yu-Gi-Oh except for the cute monsters. Who'd a thunk it... o.o;; So, that about sums it up. I'd also like to add that Dragonball Z is another good example of how Yu-Gi-Oh is going to end up like. Dragonball Z used to be a REALLY popular and famous show. It was popular enough to have a TCG made. But it's fame is slowly dieing down like Pokemon, even with it's few dedicated fans. Wow... I'm GOOD at this!! ~Meow... o_O;~
Meteora
As long as someone likes it it will stay alive. Like Pokemon it hasnt died, died yet. Its just barely living. I doubt Yu-Gi-Oh will get that far underwater.
Burori
I hope that doesn't happen anytime soon though. I love the card game
darkenshadow
Well... I think the game is slowly fading around here in my area because of one reason. I think that reason is that they decided to stop showing new episodes of yugioh around here, people around here like to watch the show around here a lot and the show really advertises the cards very well. Even my local card shop's business has been slowing down and new sets haven't been as successful as other sets released earlier.
Iron_Chef
i noticed that im my area the game has died down a bit the new eps have stop showing the new sets are being released quicker.. (probably through desperation to keep the game going.. more sets = more cards... more cards = more variety..) so i think the game is dieing down.. but maybe like Magic The Gathering....YGO will get a few "die hard" fans and the CCG will last a fair while...i wouldnt worry about it dieing of yet
Domon
Actually they are now showing new episodes now, they didn't for awhile because they had what all tv shows call a "Season Finale" which is basically where they make a two part show, they show the first part and then stop right when it gets good and then you have to wait all summer for the new episodes to show. That happens all the time, I mean it truly isn't a season finale seeing as how all of Battle City is a season but they like to drag things out. So it's not dying out. Aoshi Shinomori
I don't think it's dying...most people still play Yu-Gi-Oh!...with all the publicity of the anime and videogames out there...it'll be here for a while...it seems to me that it depends on where you live...if you live in a small town...with very few people...it just seems that people aren't playing...but in major cities...thousands of people still play... DVL
It's certainly nowhere near dead around here. It's THRIVING, I tell you! I think it will die out eventually...and only as a really popular game. People will still play it, just not as many. The mania over Pokemon has ended and people still play that. SOMEONE will always like it.
Assassin
Well I own plenty of Yu-Gi-Oh cards. But I do think Yu-Gi-Oh will eventually die. I stopped playing it and I was addicted to it pretty much...
Meteora
Well I have stopped dueling and such, but I still collect it. I mean I have a deck full of rare cards. I have more rare cards than anything. I think it will never die because some of those cards look really cool and also that they are worth money so kids will keep getting the rare cards to sell.(little confusing)
Michelangelo
I think that yugioh is stupid because its a guy playing cards and changing into a pharoh.
Solo Tremaine
Well, in that case you don't need to come into the forum and SPAM. It's pointless and rude to enter a forum just to slag off the programme unless you're being constructive. There's far more to it than 'a guy playing cards and becoming a pharoah', in terms of the plot, the characters and the game itself. Think before you post please. Xyandar
Originally posted by Kitty [B]I think Yu-Gi-Oh is just like Pokemon. When Pokémon first aired like 3 or 4 years ago, they were soo famous. They came out with cards, action figures, board and video games, clothing, EVERYTHING! But eventually people got out of it because their motto was "gotta catch em all!" well how can u catch them all when they keep making more?! The same goes for Yu-Gi-Oh. They started out with the show about cards and basic monsters. Now they made more monsters appeared so it will just continue like that. YGO is a cool show i have to admit but i am not wasting my money on pieces of thin cardboard with drawings.
Minazukii
(this topic is a little old but here is my 2 cents) Yu-gi-oh won't die out for awhile...as one of the Pokemon fans left out there I will say--yes, it will die down like Pokemon, something new always comes along (like when Yu-gi-oh took Pokemon's place) But I think it is safe to say that now, Yu-gi-oh is at its peak (like Pokemon when the First Movie came out in 99.) Pokemon still has fans but what I notice is it's the kids that lose interest in the shows/games and the people that will always like it are older. Considering a great deal of Yu-gi-oh fans I know are 15+ in age, it will be popular for awhile--the kids always will lose interest but the true fans will be there. Who knows maybe it will get more popular....to the level of popularity Pokemon was which can be kinda a bad thing (you know how it was, kids going crazy everywhere to get cards, Parents fighting over toys at Christmas..., pulling knives on each other for cards, and other crazy-fan behavior..) Snodin
Yeah, it's scary how crazy people can be over little things like that, but that's a whole topic altogether. As for me, I'm really into the Yu-Gi-Oh card game more than the show, and I feel that the card game might even be around after the cartoon's success goes under. It'll be like its own "Magic: The Gathering" thing, cause Magic it seems will never get old. It just depends on the people who're into those kinds of games. Yu-Gi-Oh as a card game sure has that potential, and even if it does "die out" someday, I'm still gonna keep my decks.

Ares
I think it may die in about five years or less. I used to play, but then I stopped, so I'm not a big fan of it. But it is currently thriving, but I still have a feeling it's going to die.
Zanarkand Abes
I used to think it was an evil demonic show, but after looking into it, I soon lerned that it is just based on ancient Egypt themes. Plus the whole idea came from real heiroglyphics pointing out the idea of the card game. But the maker (also named Pegasus) changed the look and concept to appear a modern idea. Pagan
I thought YuGiOh was gonna suck because at the time there was already a show out about cards and it sucked. I never really gave it a chance until this season. I thought it was a litle to boring for my taste but then I saw the show with Joey going to the hospital to see Serenity but he is force by the Rare Hunter to duel and ever since then I've been a fan. MeNaCe
here in England the yu-gi-oh phenomenon is only just beggining although i have been playing it since march this year, the shows have only just started on network t.v and the stores are beggining to become full of yu-gi-oh,its been tipped most popular toy this christmas. Its going the sameway as pokemon, first it was just a little known thing now its made it big time. i think yu-gi-oh wont burnout for about 2 years,or at least until another craze hits.I can se myself buying yu-gi-oh even when its all died down,as long as its being made i'll be buying it.:)
