He doesnt use them because...

1. He's a little wimp who doesnt know how to use them.
2. He doesnt have any.
3. He has some, but there so week it doesnt even matter if he uses them.

Those are just theorys.... Im not sure myself why he doesnt cast any thing.

my guess at why he didnt know how to use magic was that since he was in the game and not just playing the game he didnt have access to any menu's of spells that he could choose from.

I might be wrong but that was just my thoughts on the matter.

i dont think he was in the world very long before the unable to logout incident; he probably didnt have enough chance to level up.
It's not that Tsukasa doesn't like fighting... it's that he can't fight on his own. If he didn't like fighting he wouldn't have attacked those Long Arms in episode 4.
K.K.C. is right, IMO. I would consider summoning a spell, and, as you saw in quite a few episodes, Tsukasa is perfectly capable of summoning
his guardian
. Sure, it usually comes out on its own, but Tsukasa has the capacity to call it when he needs to. In most video games, summons go hand-in-hand with magic, so I don't think Tsukasa has his abilities locked.

There's rarely ever a need for Tsukasa to use his powers, except in the Party and Catastrophe episodes. For the latter,
I really couldn't tell if Tsukasa was using items or magic
. As for the former (episode 11), Tsukasa just didn't get a chance to, although it was a powerful scene with
Mimiru challenging Tsukasa's ideology
.

Actually, there could be another reason Tsukasa doesn't have any powers. He doesn't have any powers when we get to see him. He could have had powers beyond compare when he first started playing, and they were sealed up for some reason or another. Why he needs a guardian and he can't log out, is the same reason, but he never recovers his powers. It's tempting to think of it that way, since he is the main character. But that's probably not it :p

I have the strong belief that
Tsukasa has been Data Drained before the series starts (before episode 1)
. We never get to see what physical effect Data Draining has on Tsukasa, so
Tsukasa could have lost all his abilities at the beginning
.

kyonen, you are the first and only person to give a solid argument to the "Tsukasa is level 99" idea (or at least the first I can remember). :D

If you look at my theory an the tsukasa is level 99 thread I state that Tsukasa cannot use magic because to create the spell he must use his skill points ( game reference ) and since humans do not have skill points, Tsukasa is not able to access these abilities, because he does not have the knowledge of how to do so. That is why Tsukasa is so surprised when he finally does. as for his guardian, it is not a spell. tsukasa can call it when he wants to because it is more like a guard dog, it reacts when it is called, but also will protect tsukasa even when he is not summoned. The guardian is an entity, not a spell. Tsukasa is also not using magic when he gates from an area to a server town, he is simply using a sprite ocarina (the show being different to the game in that the sprite ocarina in the show will take tsukasa directly to the town and just out of the dungeon and back to the field.)

Tsukasa can do everything he wants to in the game, the only thing he can't do is log out. Thats what it said is the comercials. Fight, Feel pain, and make friends, but the one thing he can't do, is log out. ^_^ yep, I actually remeber that comercial.

I guess there are a few spoilers ahead...

In the second to last episode i think it was meantioned... catastrophe was it? Tsukasa uses magic to heal a few people and i saw him revive silver knight. why don't they have to waste about a minute (exaggeration) to say stuff like rip mean? you have to in the game...

Wow...really? :excited: Yeah, sounds like Naruto, doesn't it? At the beginning, he had fantastic powers as a 9-tailed fox demon. And later it was sealed! That's not why I thought of it, though.
Yes,that is correct.
Tsukasa can fight without magic though.
Remember episode 1,he fights Ginkan(Silver Knight).
He's skilled,but without magic,he couldn't win.
Plus the fact he could feel pain,it was harder.
Actually,Tsukasa was data-drained by his gardian.
He lost his memory, and his energy level dropped a bit.
That was episode 14?Yes,14.

I'm really new to the show, but I'm pretty sure the guardian's not even supposed to be there...so if it can break the rules just by being there, passing a "magic barrier" should be no problem, right?
