Black Haven

In a rough world, there isn't anything laid out for you. Evil always lerks in the shadows, death casting it's wicked blanket upon the unexpecting, a storm whisking away a loved one at sea. The only way people manage to get on with their happy lives in this world is they don't know what's going to come next. They don't have to worry about it therefore they don't waste every second waiting for what could be.

This world is full of the unexpected. Thieves, monsters, bounty hunters, brutes. Any kind of scum was born, raised, and led here. Darkness creeps over this world's landscape and tends to stick. One particular town known as Black Haven keeps it's order and prosperity under the grand leadership of the man who founded it. Black Haven is a place not for those who wish to do wrong. The name may imply evil, it may toss a shiver down your spine. But it's name only reckons what it dislikes... the scum of this world.

And the people who live here in Black haven are ready for the unexpected, though, they do not sit and wait for it. Black Haven happened to be built in an open area in the middle of nowhere with a forest not too far off. Most come there on journeys to rest at the local inn or have a drink at the pub. But the citizens whom are carrying on normal lives, they will find that living in such a town as Black Haven, one could embark on something grand and terrifying all at once.
----------
Thought I'd post that part again. Anyways! It's time to start your life in Black Haven or if you've lived here since it was founded or so, I suppose you've lived it! Interact with other players or nonplayers! Do stuff! Make up your life! But upmost of all, ENJOY!

Luminous wondered around in his little Vet Shop waiting for any customers. It hadn't been very busy lately. When the door swung open. A small Kid Dwarf came in holding a baby panther with pink puff around it's left eye.

"Hey Mithter! Bwakky's thick again!" said the Dwarf in the cutest voice ever.

"Let's see what we can do about that!" Luminous said picking up the panther. It scratched his face before and he didn't want to make the same mistake. He held it infront of him and layed it on a small bed.

"Hmm... Ah!" Luminous looked carefully at it's eye and pulled of what seemed to be bits of candy. He showed it to the child.

"I told you not to feed him candy!" said Luminous. "Oh well. He'll be better by tomorrow."

"Thanks, Mithter!" the Dwarf said picking up his pet and skipping out the door.

"...wait... He forgot to pay!" yelled Luminous. He charged out the door but it was too late.

"Ugh. It always happens. Oh well." Luminous said to himself. He looked at his empty Tips Jar. Then the door swung open.

She awoke to something tickling her nose. Kell struck out and hit something hard. Bombolurina purred and rubbed herself up against Kell. The female half elf sat up and pated her roommate until he awoke. Claudio looked frazzled, and he needed to shave, but Kell leaned over and kissed his cheek anyways.

Kell: G'morning dear.

Claudio: ...argh.

She laughed, a bright silver sound, and stood. Bombolurina leapt onto her shoulders, where she would remain all day long. Kell ripped open the shades, despite her lack of clothing and opened the window. Claudio pulled the sheets over his head and she promptly yanked them out of reach.

Kell: UP!

She walked to the bathroom and pulled on her black "outfit" if it could be called that. Her kitty purred and nibbled the strap. Kell brushed her hair and twisted it up, securing it with two silver pins. Then she began the process of putting on the jewelry, four silver hoops in each ear, followed by a black choker of jet beads, then finally her garters and the paraphinalea that went with it. Lastly she tied on the black apron and secured the bow with a special box knot. Time to open up shop. Claudio was rising slowly, and she contemplated livening him with a dash of cool beer....but it would stain the sheets...

Bombolurina: Just do it.

Kell: ....nah, poor guy's exhausted.

Bombolurina: From gods knows what.

The two laughed and opened the doors leading to the bar and Inn. Another perfect day.

Kitty walked in holding Lily in her arms. Luminous hurried over and Kitty placed Lily on the counter.

Luminous: "What happened to her? She doesn't look good at all."
Kitty: "I'm not sure. Maybe she ate something that didn't agree with her. I've got to hurry. How much will it cost?"

Luminous looked over Lily and then nodded. Kitty tapped her foot impatiently, then she started towards the door.

Kitty: "Look. I've got to hurry to work today so here's this."

She put some money in the tip jar and handed him some more.

Luminous: "Wait. Um, where should I take her when I'm finished?"
Kitty: "She'll be fine here."

Kitty smiled and walked out the door as Luminous watched. Lily mewed quietly, then went to sleep. Outside, Kitty headed towards the inn. She was going to be late today if she didn't hurry. She started running, making several people stare. She raced through the doors and went straight to work.

"Ok, ok already, I'm awoke I'm awoke, I wish a had a wife that would wake me up more smoothly"

Haron stood up, took his clothes and went towards the bathroom which was on the 1st floor of his luxurious stone house. He started be taking a shower and then he thought in front of the mirror...I should cut this awful beard....I have it since I went to war... So took a knife and cut his reddish dwarf bread. Then Haron putted his clothes on and stooded there thinking of what he was going to do today.

He had some armors ordered by that elf next to his house but the elf said he didn't want them until 2 days so what could he do...How about a good beer...he thought. So he step out of his house and headed for the town bar.

Sariyah stepped out of his mansion once again for another glorious day in Black Haven. Quite proud of how the town turned out, he often liked to wander the streets to see the busy hub bub. He didn't really like people treating him like upper classman. So, pretty much, people acted as if he were one of them, which he loved.

He walked aimlessly around until he reached the Inn owned by the prosperous Claudio and Kell. Walking towards the inn section, he saw one elven girl rush in before him. He then stepped inside to have a look.

Like any other inn in the world, the place was small on the first floor aside from tables where people may sit and chat with other patrions. The same elf girl was already sweeping about the room with a broom. He knew her. Her name was Kitty. "Greetings, Kitty. How goes your morning?"

Kitty looked up. It was the 'mayor' so to speak. She never treated him better than anyone else, though. She smiled and leaned on her broom.

Kitty: Let's say it was rushed.
Sariyah: How so?
Kitty: Woke up about 15 minutes ago. I'm not very... 'good' at waking up in time for work. I just don't like the mornings I guess.

Sariyah smiled and walked off, Kitty laughed at herself as he did, then went back to dusting. She thought of what to do on her lunch break, even though it was 2 hours away. Maybe I should go visit him... She stopped for a second looked out the doors and saw the townsfolk walking around outside. She laughed again then went back to work... again.

As he entered the bar he saw the mayor, the founder of this peaceful town. So why not salute him...

"G'morning Mr. Mayor, so how are you today?"

"Oh hello Heron, I know who you are, you are the Armor Marchant...oh and please do call me Sariyah...well good day.

"...Wow he remembers me... Oh yeah you too Mr. May..oh yeah Sariyah.

Then after greeting the mayor Heron took a seat and a waitress passed by..."Good Morning mister, I'm Aurora and would you like a cold beer?...

"That's exactly what I want, thank you Aurora...

As Aurora went for the beer Heron started thinking...Why would that elf want those armors...

Suuchin ran panting into the inn. She knew she was late but maybe if she was really quiet, no one would notice. She walked silently into the kitchen through a back door and hurriedly put on apron. So far, her plan was working. Halfway across the kitchen she heard someone clear their throat. She turned to see Kell, looking quite upset, and for good reason. This was the third time she had been late that week. She wracked her brain, trying to think of a good excuse. Several came to mind but none of them were good enough.
"Umm...sorry? I know I'm late but...uhh..." She continued to glance around, hoping for an excuse to fall out of the sky.

Anahita had awoken three hours ago when the dawn had yet to break and since then had been staring at the wooden beams that supported her cieling. She felt tired, but sleep did not come. Lately she couldn't get a full night in anymore, odd dreams that plagued her and longing for something, or at least that's what it felt like, longing. A sigh pushed its way through her lips and she sat up, told herself, "Time to start a new day."

She stepped on to her cold wooden floor and quickly, routinely dressed herself. A long green dress, fitted snugly around her breast and which then fell loosely to the ground, covering her feet. She combed through her hair, pulling it back away from her face and then slipped on the golden bracelet her mother gave her before her departure from home, an heirloom as she had called it.

As she swung her door open she took in a deep breath of fresh air and decided she would head to the tavern first for something to eat and drink and maybe even to find some customers.

Stephen was already hard at work in the kitchen, chopping up a hot pepper and adding it to a small roast pork dish that he had fixed moments earlier. He was still at work, grinding herbs and curing meats since before sunrise. He glanced out of the inn kitchen to see how things were going, and he was quite startled to see the mayor sitting at the table. He stopped chopping, only to hear the mistress, Kell, scream at him.
"Hey, no slacking off!" Stephen groaned then grumbled incoherently.
"Yes, ma'am." He put the pork in his oven, as he looked into the furnace, he wondered if she would fit inside it...
"HEY!"
"Alright, already!" Stephen had racked up quite a tab at the bar, so now he worked tirelessly in the kitchen, sometimes he would get so tired at night Kell would put him in one of the rooms and then charge him for it the next morning! He looked outside and noticed the mayor again, thinking he might just fix up a special dish for him. He went to work, boiling a pot of water and adding some garlic...then potatoes...then he pulled his roast out of the oven and added a little more spice...constantly rechecking the potatoes all the while, Stephen brushed some of the crumbs and herbs from his apron, then put the food on a large plate with a flourish, and went out personally to give the mayor his food.
"Mr. Mayor, one of my dishes, compliments of the house."
"Ah! So you're that Stephen Reidman we have herd so much about! t's good to see you again!" The mayor took Stephen's hand and shook it, Stephen flushed slightly, then retreated back to the kitchen before Kell noticed that he had gone. He began to chop up an onion, periodically glancing outside, eager to see what the mayor thought of his food...when Suuchin suddenly bounded into the kitchen, late for work...again.
"Hello, Su." Stephen greeted nonchalantly, he reached under the counter and pulled out a loaf of spiced bread, which Suuchin began to munch on with relish.
"Miss breakfast again?" Suuchin just glared at him, still chewing.
"I've been busy, and Kell's been really tough lately..." She said, mouth full. Stephen nodded sagely.
"Ah, yes, our mistress could put any slave laborer to shame." He began to peel more potatoes, wondering what was going to happen next...

Nogard with his cloak over his face turned and looked to see if Heron is in his shop. Where is that darn armor smith he said he would clean and repair my mail. "Heron, are you here? Kitty continued cleaning while Kell checked out the remaining guests. Then she dusted off the counter, told Kitty she was going to the bar, and left.

Kitty continued sweeping, under the watchful eye of Bombolurina.

The tall willowy female made her way into the slowly filling up bar, and eyed Claudio.

Claudio: Lo. How's buisness?

Kell: Kitty's just cleaning up after them. Not much to report. You?

Claudio: Nogard left you a tip.

She sauntered over to his table and deposited the coins in her deep apron pockets. She flicked one at him and saved the rest for later. It was customary for her to get more than enough in tips to support a comfortable lifestyle....but oh well. Not much to do but keep on plugging away.

Claudio: Where' the cat?

Kell: Watching Kitty.

She smilied sweetly.

After Kitty had finished sweeping the floors, she put the broom away and checked the time. She had another hour and a half before lunch, so she decided that cleaning dishes would make time go by faster. On her way to the kitchen, she stroked Bombolurina and smiled as the cat purred. She walked off and got an apron. When she reached the kitchen, she saw Suuchin and Stephen.

Stephen: Hey, Kitty. How's your morning?
Kitty: Very... rushed.
Suuchin: Woke up late, huh? How do you get here on time, though?
Kitty: So you came in late again? I guess I'm just closer or something.

Stephen and Kitty laughed, but Suuchin was busy thinking. Kitty finished tieing(sp?) her apron and went to the sink. There weren't many dishes, but it would pass the time. Stephen went back to cooking and Suuchin went back to eating breakfast.

Heron after ordering a cold beer also ordered something to eat, he was to lazy to cook himself something. After finishing the roast chicken he had ordered he headed towards his house because that elf, oh yeah he remembered his name now, Norgad the horse breeder. Horan walked slowly to his when some freind of his told him.."Horan, Horan....*panting* ohh Norgad was here, he looked very angry because he wanted his mail armor repaired and clean...."

"Ok, but did he tell ya where he will be?"

"No, but I think he went to the Inn owned by Claudio."

"Well thanks for the information, I'll go and do my job now."

Then Heron procceded to his armory, little cabin in his backyard with all his tools. So after two hours of hammering, modeling and cleaning, the armor was as good as new. So as he finished he immediately headed towars Claudio's Inn to bring Norgad's mail armor. On the way to the Inn started to think...Why would Norgad wanted his armor ready for today that badly...

Lissa stretched in her bed, yawning and kicking off the covers as she did so. She decided it was probably time to get up, although she didn't really feel like getting dressed just yet. Instead she left her room to go into the store, knowing that while her silky white nightgown wasn't exactly clothing to wear out, it at least covered all the necessary parts. Besides, the door was still locked.

Lissa opened the door and changed the sign on it from "Closed" to "Ring for Service," then closed it again and relocked it. Sighing and tying her hair back for the day's work, she sat down at her sewing table and started laying out some pieces of fabric she'd cut the day before. An elf who lived in the woods outside of town had heard of her skill and requested a dress, which Lissa had had a wonderful time designing.

Just as she was about to begin sewing, though, the bell rang. Sighing, Lissa got up and opened the small window on the door to see who it was. Nobody she'd ever seen before.

"You're a seamstress?" the stranger asked.

"Yes, I am," Lissa said.

"Well, may I come in for service?" the stranger said.

Lissa smiled. "Sure," she said. "I'm sorry, just give me a couple minutes." She trotted back to her room to change as quickly as possible, eager for some more business.

Sariyah trotted along the town, knowing that there wasn't much to fill his day's schedule. He mostly just wandered and checked on things. The most exciting would be catching thieves or trapping criminals if any were around at the time. He always carried his nicely crafted sword. Only one of it's kind. Supposedly made for his father by a man named Masamune? It was a blurred name in Sariyah's memory.

His sister, Lorien, he supposed was still in the mansion. Being almost noon, he thought he'd make a final stop at Rendea's farms before going back for lunch.

He went to the one of the outermost parts of town to where her farm lay beautiful as the falling sun. The fresh vegetables smelt delicious and tempting. Sariyah gently opened the gate to one of the small fields Rendea had going and nodded at her when she spotted him. She was kneeling in the garden. "Greetings, Ms. Rendea."

Renie scowled. "Oh, it's you."

"What a wonderful greeting." Sariyah chuckled.

"You better believe it." Renie pushed a pigtail over her ear and stood up. "Whaddya want?"

"Just to talk with the fine people of my town."

Renie spat in the dirt, "Right."

"Why do you hate me so much Renie?" Sariyah raised his eyebrows and smiled slyly.

"None of your business!" Renie stuck out her tongue.

"Still a child."

"I AM NOT A KID!!" Sariyah laughed, knowing that he had hit a sore spot. "Now, I have to get these vegetables into the market or the Inns won't have anything but beer to serve people."

"Now that you mention it... you're not mad about that time I got you drunk right?" Renie's face flushed in anger.

"I WAS NOT DRUNK! I only had a buzz on! And if that hadn't happened, I wouldn't have left my family chasing after you!"

"So that's why you hate me?" Renie was now loading vegetables into her cart and hitching up her horse to it.

"No..." She sighed and gave him a small smile. "I just enjoy fighting with you." Her scowl returned, "So if that's all you want then you can get lost."

"How about a ride back into town?"

"Damn vulture. Always mooching off everyone in this place." She let him onto the cart nevertheless.

Clyde had remained sitting at the gate of town for several hours before dawn, watching the landscape, wandering in his own thoughts.

Clyde: This is gonna be another boring day. I dont even remember why I got this job....Well, because fighting's the only good thing Im at but I havent got anything interesting to do in awhile.

He stood up, stretching.

Clyde: I should stop by to the blacksmith, see if he's finished with my sword.

He saw a nearby guard and motioned for him to come over here.

Clyde: Take over from here. I need to go the blacksmith.

The guard just nodded as Clyde walked away.

Sariyah leapt off the cat and onto the dusty trails of the town. "Thanks again, Renie!"

"Yeah, yeah," she said as she motioned the horses on. Sariyah walked to the large mansion and opened the door quietly. He entered and peeked around the corner into the kitchen. Something was definately cooking so he silently closed the door and walked into the kitchen.

"Mmm... smells tempting." He peered into the pot over the burning fire. Soup was present. He stirred the spoon carefully through the broth, then paced on out of the kitchen. No sign of Lorien.

He entered the living room and picked through the mail. One message caught his fancy because of the wax closing. It was a symbol he did not recognize. It had a snake on it that coiled around a skull. He took a knife to it, then read it's contents.

Dear Mayor Sariyah Daskar,

This is the leader of the Snakeskin bandits. We are fully aware of your town being a criminal free place so we are just giving a heads up that we are coming there. Black Haven is along our way and if we entered, we'd probably make an intrusion. We wouldn't want that, now would we?

We are not coming for any trouble. Just to simply round up our supplies again. By the time we reach your happy town of Black Haven, we will be low. That is all. Good day.

-Scipio, Snakeskin Bandits

Sariyah closed the letter and tucked it under his cloak and into his shirt. He nodded and left the building again.

Kell: Alright everyone, lunch break.

Kitty and the others walked out of the kitchen. They put their aprons up, then headed in different directions for lunch. Kitty headed home to eat her pre-made lunch. When she reached it, she quickly went inside, grabed her food, but hesitated. Maybe I should eat somewhere else... Kitty grabed a bag and stuffed the sandwich and drink into it. She headed outside and locked the door to the house. On her way back to the hustle and bustle of town, she noticed Sariyah again. But now he wasn't so cheery. Kitty ran over to him and smiled.

Kitty: What's wrong? Someone treat you like royalty?
Sariyah: No. The Snakeskin Bandits are coming by in a little while.
Kitty: Great. Thanks for lettin' me know. See ya around.

Kitty waved, and continued to walk back towards the inn. She stopped by Luminous's store, then shook her head and continued towards the inn. She quickly finished lunch, then started back to work when the lunch break was over.

Anahita walked into the bar and silently took a seat near the window. She eyed the crowd and then placed her tarot cards face down on the table. As she did so, the scantily dressed co-owner of this establishment walked over to her, Kell she believed was her name. They exchanged greetings and then Anahita ordered a light meal and a pint of ale. Kell left her to place the order with the chef and Anahita played with her cards. She pulled one out at random, The Lovers Card, she chuckled at the irony. She spoke to herself, "Before the morning star, while the moon rides high, A sacred coupling, as dawn lifts the veil of night." A girl looked at her, that look in her eyes, that "weirdo" look in her eyes. Kell brought her her meal and drink and just as she began to dig in that same girl that had stared sat before her.

Clyde had just returned from retreiving his sword from the blacksmith. As he walked through the town back to the front gate, he heard someone.

Sariyah: Clyde! I was looking for you.

He turned to see the mayor, who was out of breath from running.

Clyde: What's up? Something wrong?

Sariyah: The Snakeskin Bandits are coming, and I want you to keep an eye on them without them knowing. I dont want them causing any trouble.

Clyde: Of course.

Saying that, Sariyah left. Clyde turned around and climbed to the top of the front gate.

Clyde: Let's just hope they dont try to pull anything.

Luminous carries Lily to the table and lays her down.

"Nice to see you again Lily!" Luminous said. "Just not here..."

"Meow!" the cat replied.

"Now what sems to be the... Ah ha!" Luminous examined the cat and flipped her on it's back. He opened her mouth and looked inside. He stuck a posicle stick in to keep it open. He then pulled part of the tongue out. It was green....

"Now, that's not good." said Luminous. "Well let's see what I can whip up for ya." Luminous grabbed some nibble and set it on the table. "It all just takes time. Nothing I can do. Sorry Lily." Luminous got up and reached for a food bowl then poured some panther food in it. He set it beside the cat. "It's all I got."
