My top five favorite anime theme songs.

"Change the World" from Inuyasha

"Tank" from Cowboy Bebop

"Freckles" from Ruroumi Kenchin

"Breeze" (I think) from The Slaylers Try

Opening theme from Outlaw Star. (forgot the name, but know it by heart.)
I love these songs; sometimes I even try playing them on my piano. :smirk:

I'm probably biased because I'm such a Naruto-freak, but I love "Haruka Kanata" by Asian Kung-Fu Generation. The opening sequence that went along with it was awesome, too! ^_^ Also, "Freckles" from Rurouni Kenshin is really a catchy kinda song. It took a while to grown on me, but I absolutely love it now! Also "Duvet" by Boa, for Serial Experiements: Lain.

I would say that Martian Successor Nadesico has the best opening theme, 'You Get To Burning'. The fanstastic trumpet solo at the start of it alone, makes it impressive.

The ending theme, 'Watashi Rashiku' is great too, as unlike most ending theme it retains the sheer energy and light-heartedness of the series.

1.) Kenshin, (i like the words too)
2.) Yu Yu, or ( the tune gets to me)
3.) Hack//Sign(heard it once and i thought it was quite nice)
lol i think they have such a catchy tune that you just hum to the song and not even know your doing it lol. and then your foot starts to move to the beat lol its cool yea one of those three

"Eden" didn't appeal to me when I first heard it, but as the series progressed, its opening definitely started to grow on me. It's one of those songs that benefits from multiple listens. It starts to sound a whole lot better once you're able to anticipate the changes in its melody and can therefore sing along (not that I'd ever dream of doing such a thing.... >_>).

But, yes, "Eden" more than makes up for Yami no Matsuei's terrible ending theme.

I would have to go with Tank, written by the musical genius Yoko Kanno. I never used to really be a fan of Blues or Jazz, but she definitely changed my mind. I can listen to any of her musical compositions. They're all different "genres" of music but her talent has made me like them all. Tank is just a cool funk kind of music that makes you want to watch the show :)

Tank! from Cowboy Bebop. Sets the mood to Cowboy Bebop Juuuust right for the rest of the show.

Thanks Verykawaiineko for the animescores website. I am somewhat in debt to you.

Saiyuki (which I've never actually seen) has one of the best opening themes I've ever heard. It's an upbeat song called "For Real" with fantastic guitar solos and a powerful rock-and-roll sound--which really makes it stand out, since most anime OPs are very J-poppy. "For Real," which is sung by the wonderfully talented Tokuyama Hidenori, is incredibly catchy and simply doesn't grow old, no matter how many times you hear it.

I originally discovered this song because one of my RahXephon DVDs featured a Saiyuki preview as one of its extras. Although I have little interest in watching Saiyuki, I found myself playing the preview over and over again, just to listen to "For Real."
