Anime Transformers Poll

Ok, I know a lot of you are a lot younger than me (22), but there are so many transfans out there I just wanted to get a feel for the place.

Transformers is my favorite cartoon/anime of all time and it has seen many reinventions. Transformers(G1 original cartoon), Beast Wars(beast machines), Robots in Disguise and the new Transformers Armada. Which of the four is your favorite TF show? Why do you think it is better than the others, and which of them all have you seen?

Personally I think Beast wars was the best show. It took me a litle while to get used to the fact that they were animals, but once I gave it a chance I was hooked. The CG animation got better as the show went on and is still way better than the trash that they pass of as animation on Armada and robots in disguise. The story is great and fits in with the original storyline, and starscream makes an appearance. I still love the first show, but Beast Wars was fantastic. Transformers has really taken a step back from after Beast wars(beast machines)

[COLOR=blue] I have to agree that i liked Beast Wars best. I have seen (I'm pretty sure) all of the versions.
And I think that the animation was great. And that the storyline was also. Most of the reasons are the same as yours, but oh well. Although Transformers are one of my cartoon/anime favorites![/COLOR]

I don't really know if I would classify the aboved mentioned titles as anime, any more so then I would put Thunder Cats in the mix.

Shrug, still cool tho. Do you have the DVD sets?

Sure Beast Wars was pretty cool, but the Maximals and Predicons wouldn't stand a chance against the old Autobots and Decepticons.

I think the older Transformer were so much cooler. I mean they were huge, more appealing, and didn't have beaks/jaws for hands and feet.

But thats just my opinion.:D

Beast Wars is by far my favorite. Then the origonal, then Armada, then Beast Machines, then that crappy kids one. Beast Wars was cool because it had the most action and it was funny and had cool charachters. I have almost ALL the toys. I didnt like the fuzors though... and the Transformers movie ROCKED.

[size=1] Tranformers, the original series, still is the best one they've created. It follows a storyline that spans a couple of generations for example. And the movie, which joined the two together showed actual Casualties of war [spoiler] Optimus dying as well as Megatron being trashed near death, and the end of the insectacons and Starscream, and a whol host of Autobots.[/spoiler] not to mention Unicron, the best transformer of them all! pity he was only in it once, for the movie.

Beast wars -crap. I enjoyed the autubots and decepticons, and didn't want to see a bunch of dumb animals in place of them!

RID - Robots in disguise sucked as well. They tried real hard to make it a digimon rip off with the artwork, and the really overdid it in the bots design.
- the only thing it had going for it was Skybite, the terribly funny decepticon. I actually wanted the decepticons to WIN sometimes, make it a bit more real!

Armada -hopless nonsense. Now it's like pok'emon with all their little minicons.'

both latter series aren't wars more than only a few per side duking it out in more or less a gang fight situation. Boring. V_V

Transformers should give up the ghost. It's had it's heyday, and that ... was the 80's [/size]

Beast Machines was the best transformers series. It had the best animation, the best storyline, and the most awesome character designs. (Jetstorm pwns you!)

Original Transformers- blech. They were all shapped like boxes...it didn't keep me entertain, and I was, like, two, and easily entertained. Give me Ninja Turtles anyday.

Beast Wars- Good but not great. Dinobot was, without a doubt, my favorite character on the show, followed by Inferno. It really wasn't that deep, and the characters changed every season to push more toys. (In all fairness, not nearly as many toys as the original series.)

RiD- Eh. I liked Skyshark and the Predicons, but thay was it. More kiddified than the original Beast Wars.

Armada- Can't stand it.

I loved Beast Machines, almost needless to say. That and Beast Wars were my favourites, and that's primarily because of the 'dumb animals' that replaced the vehicles. I've always preferred them. The first season, though, was admittedly rather poor, but during the second and third seasons things really started to pull together. You can't watch Beast Machines without having first seen Beast Wars either, really, as the two are more or less consecutive series.

Armada's pretty good so far, although Rad, Carlos and Alexis annoy me frequently. We've not seen past the episode where [spoiler]Jetfire and Optimus combine[/spoiler], and we probably won't annoyingly. Looking at episode guides for after that, I know it gets a lot better. I find it better than Robots in Disguise, at any rate. The far-too-formulaic plot in that really got up my nose.

My general idea that I get from TF fans is that people who disliked Beast Wars were being overly nostalgic about the old Transformers series. Nobody I know here likes Beast Wars- they instantly say it's crap without having actually seen it (if you have seen it then it's alright, you're justified in saying it's bad), just because the older one they preferred was so much 'cooler', regardless of its datedness. I know I've not seen much outside of the Movie, but from what I have seen I still prefer Beast Wars.

I think it's a pretty good anime. It's well drawn, the mech units are very well designed, and all that stuff. I think that it's an okay anime. Just not the best, I didn't like armada that much though.

Transformers Armada I'm divided on, it actually holds true to the look of the original series in some ways, but horribly mangles the ideas that hooked me in the first place. The Minicons would be cool if they hadn't made the show childish, i.e Sparkplug would kick Billy's *** any day of the year.[/color][/size]

I can understand that. Having never been able to see much (or any, actually) of the original series I never really grew to like it when I was younger, and so didn't develop an attachment to it- it was only after seeing Beast Wars that I watched any of the original ones. I still like G1, but it's not my favourite series.

Heh, Billy and Fred annoy me. I'd find it more interesting if the Transformers themselves had a bigger part to play than the kids myself. As it is they seem like accessories to the humans, which doesn't seem right as they're the ones who actually do everything.

I'm happy people like Beast Wars! Oh I forgot about actually putting the poll in the post (duh). I like hearing what people think anyway. I really don't know what people see in Armada. I remember being really excited about seeing the next new TF series that wasn't just a dub of one of the wacky Japanese shows. The first three episodes aired and I couldn't even stand to finish watching them. The animation early in the series was total garbage, the kids are really annoying, and the characters lack any sort of real depth. They have the voice actors of Optimus and Megatron from the Beast era, but they sound cold and emotionless compared to Beast Machines, when they were in their prime (PUN). Is there one thing that people like about Armada that is better than Beast Wars? Oh, and Even BW doesn't really compare to the awesomeness of TF: the movie. I hope they do another one some day.

Id have to say the original series edges out Beast wars by a hair...And TF:The movie...mmm thats one awesome movie.

I like the original because it just had good stories and great robot designs...I also enjoyed beast wars for this reason. The show actually had a GOOD storyline most of the time(Something that armada sorely lacks)

Ive never seen RID...And sounds like im the better for it...

Armada I dont really care for...its abit repetitive and boring...And the kids kinda annoy me.

Well it will be interesting to see in a few years if TF the live action movie gets made...CG Transformers...Could be cool :devil: [/color][/font][/b]

I'd have to say the original transformers is my favourite because unlike all the rest, there seems to be a lot more action in the original series :)

Robots in Disguise: i didn't like this series very much

Beast wars: this was a lot better than robots in disguise the only thing that annoyed me about this series was Megatron constantly saying " yes...." after each sentence >.<

Armada: the minicons sound like a good idea but it would be a lot better if the kids had a smaller role.
