Shaun
Okay, I'm sure we've all dealt with flooding in our area at one time or another. We had one here in Southeastern Ohio today. It's the worst I've seen it in at least 10 years. All the roads were closed and our neighborhood was basically cut off from the rest of the county. I've posted a pic here. That torrent used to be 2 quiet, nearly dry streams. We had to rescue our horses in this! LOL. So what's your flood stories?
Raiha
Hmm, the most serious thing that ever happened out here was a huge four day rainstorm. Our entire street was flooded for a night, and the only way to get from point A to point B was by kayak. Which, was kinda fun.
Fall
I've never seen a real flood. Out here, getting a flood would be a miracle. We've had a drought for the past two years, so severe, the whole state was declared 99.8% in drought, and 0.2% borderline. It's recently started to rain a bit, and right now, it's been raining all day. Forecasts say tomorrow should experience heavy to very heavy falls. There was a flood when I was quite young, though I can't remember it. We have photos of it somewhere, though I can only recall one showing the windmill in the bottom paddock along the river being submerged in water to it's axel. Drix D'Zanth
One time my toilet's flush handle was broken. The replacement part was a bit too large so we had to push the handle back up .. or the toilet would continue to circulate water. Well a friend of mine accidently plugged the toilet with about 6 wads of paper tissue. The resulting flood covered nearly 3 rooms on the 3rd floor of our dorm. I feel bad for the people that lived on the 2nd floor, that water leaked for weeks. It took the combigned effort of the entire 3rd floor and their weekend towel supply to contain it. Let's just say the local laundromat was VERY busy.

Guess?
I live in in area where there are flashfloods but I haven't seen one yet... When I was younger there was a huge flood where I used to live. I lived in the mountains so we couldn't leave our house because the road was dirt and along a tall hill and might of given out under the weight of the car. It was fun because it rained for a week straight, and in souther california thats alot of rain.
Luminaire
During Hurrican Floyd, our basement flooded. My older brothers and I had to go swimming to save the piano, exercise equipment and power tools. Trying to swim to your basement floor is an interesting feeling, we actually had to kick off the ceiling to get all the way down. Only problem was it was March and kinda cold, so the water was freezing. The other big problem was that while the piano floated, the exercise equipment didn't. We would swim to the bottom, lift it, and carry it underwater until we ran out of air, then kick back up. It would have been pathetic if one of us drowned in our own basement. ~Lumi ^_^

Guest Crimson Spider
Well, very recently, like as in right now! LV is having some serios flood problems. You see, we go through about 100 days of pure dryness. As soon as the drought commercials play, we get severe rain. We got about 5 inches of rain in the past week. We don't even get 2 the whole year. That much was dropped in both storms. Now, the soil on the top becomes hard like rock, even under grass. When it rains, it slides right off. So several areas around Vegas are in severe floods. Entire houses are washed away. Streets get closed down. With all of these commercials, and other varios warnings everywhere, people still drive straight into the 9 ft deep water. So dumb...
