Is Any One Here a Baller?

So far, i think i'm the only baller on the OBs. by Baller i mean a street basketball player. If you don't know what street ball is, think the Globe Trotters without the rigged games. the Ballers step onto the court (which is usaully at a street curb goal or a gym court) , don't call fouls, and play the game all the while trying to completely humiliate there opponents or make themselves look amazing. Its really flashy and extremely fun. Every one is freindly and you learn from your mistakes. And there is one imporatant rule, It isn't Street Ball without the tricks. I have recently learned a new trick from the Cross Over Guru, Charlie. He taught me and my freind the trick so effectionally called the "Slip-n-Slide" where the guy with the ball catched the ball between the hand and wrist and do a quick roll on the body and come back up with the ball dribbling and in the defenders empty spot. Street Ball is simply an ejoyable expierence.

I was wondering if any one else here at the OBs participated in this, and if so or if not so, what are your opinions on the excellent sport?

No, its like humor. It fun cuz if you get done up real bad, you won't be booed or made fun of, you'll just laugh and smile cuz you know that you gotta learn that. Its like, "Dang man, you got me!" and then the dudes woulkd like shake hands and what not. Its all freindly and thats why its fun. :D

Please spell "sentences" correctly :p

Sorry, I had to... heh.

I used to play basketball quite a bit. I was never that good, although I seemed to make a lot of shots when I wasn't even trying. It was very aggrivating.

And Valick, I love Our Lady Peace. 4 AM and Thief will always be my favorites heh.

i am sorry, but, to me, that made absolutely no sense..... -.-

I've never played myself, let alone play basketball because not only am I not very good but, I've never gotten so interested as to try hard enough to get any where past pathetic. The only sport that I know I'm half way decent at playing is volley ball and I haven't played that in a long while.

However, I know exactly what streetball is and I really like watching people play it (on TV and in real life). I mostly watch it on TV when I get the chance because I don't often see it when I'm just walking around outside.

To me, it's lots of fun to watch and if I were at all skilled with anything related to basketball then I would actually like to try it (for the fun of it) but, that will never happen so I'll just continue to watch.

I think it's cool, all the things they do, and it's funny when a 'younger person' is playing with someone older than them.

There goes FLy-T with his wannabe balelr/gansta self..(sigh)

I lvoe playing Streetball. I play all the time at a friends court. The only thing is, he (Brandon) has two brothers (Marcus and CLiff, Marcus being younger) who think their all that. Get this:

Marcus: Hey, check this out *goes to three point line* look at my game breaker (from NBA Street 1/2) *misses 3 point shot*

me: Dude, that's no game breaker. That's called an air ball *grabs the ball on the rebound, holding it in front of his face* *he steals it* hey

him: *traveling like a mutha******whatch this!

me: Travel

him: your cheating!

it's very funny *notices nobody's laughing* ok...i'll leave now..

I can't do any tricks, will, i can do a gone fishin and a trick where you drop the ball, plant your hands and jump up with the ball bouncing on your stomach and the ground, then come back and grab it, a trick we made called the 'fake it make it' where you do a double cross then shoot it, i can take anyone down with it (except a 14 year old girl who me and Brandon hang with) But other than that, i suck....

Oh,
Its like, "Dang man, you got me!" and then the dudes woulkd like shake hands and what not.
where did u get that? It's all about respect otu there, i may laugh when i get shook, but i laugh when i get bombed on. What can i say? we don't shake hnds, i burn him/break his ankles. *shakes head* where do they figure streetball is fun and games?

Its how it is around were i live. You'll get laughed at, but your not really made fun of cuz the only ppl who can BOMB a person to the fullest are the best players. Me and my group of guys named Jordan, Justin, Reggie, Charlie, Michael, and a few other aquiantices paly all the time. ALL THE TIME. Usually our sessions last atleast 5 hours. and we all got our strenghts.

Me: Defence and Handles

Jordan: Shots and Handles (were on the same level.)

Justin: Pure Power. Good luck blocking his dunk or dunking on him.

Reggie: Pure Height and Dunk. 6'5" and about 16 years old.

Charlie: He is the Guru of Handles. I personally think he could take most of the AND 1 players. You gotta see him. Reminds me of WHite Choclate and the Professor.

Michael: He has all around game. Specailizes in funny cross ups.

WE all play in good fun. Its just a buddy kind a thing. We don't take it seriously, we jsut have fun. But if you DO get crossed by a little kid or a sucky dude, you'll get bombed for about a week, so know what your getting yourself into.

Street Ball is this up-and-coming fad now, because of the show on ESPN which documents many of the "Ballers" and what they do, go through, and play. Unfortunantly the NBA isn't very interested in "Ballers" so their no money, only fame amung each other and the "scene"... occationally some of them make it to the NBA, but judging from the many times i've seen that show on ESPN, they don't.

Anyway, I don't play B-Ball anymore, and if I did, I wouldn't play it in this style. It's cool to watch, funny too, but it's pure show off, and egos are just too high. I'd rather play a real team game based on team talent and coordination amung others than just strut my stuff quite honestly.

Its all about individuality. Thats why "21" is such a popular game. As is 2 on 2 games. If you got a good freind, you can practice orcastraioted moves and what not, so its pretty fun. thats how you earn your nick names. So far, i've been calles White Chocolate and Big Mike.

I live near Orlando, so I can relate. This maybe hard to believe but i've had many chances to go play with Tracy McGrady One of which I accepted. This maybe even harder to believe, but he's more street than anything. That man gots some tight moves ( a few of which i picked up myself(***what, you people don't think im that stupid do you!?!).
