It's called ADULT swim for a reason. People...... What's your opinion on this?
DeathBug
CN cannot be sued for showing FLCL, or anything on its Adult Swim block. They have fulfilled their legal responsibilities by not only showing the "offensive" programming in the wee hours, but also issuing a disclaimer before it and all other Adult Swim programs. So there. =P
WW2
Hahahaha, you've got to be kidding me. Was that woman serious? It's a fricken cartoon, and CN puts up viewer descretion messages before the show comes on. So, she shouldn't be so outraged, since CN issues the disclaimer. Jeez, some people are just too up tight about things.
Zephyr
Well, with the disclaimer there is little she can do. Also, since when was FLCL rated TV-PG? I never once saw anything like that on the screen. Now, about some of the things she said: >>What we saw was nudity below the waist on a teenage girl>> From what I recall the only time they got close to that was a scene in the 3rd episode where Ninamori is in the bathroom, and even then she was sitting down. Unless they mean the scene later when her panties got caught on Kanti's head, but even then they never showed anything past mid-thigh after they came off. >>kids blowing people's brains out with machine guns>> Now that is total B.S. Yes in episode five Noata was shooting a machine gun, but it had fake bullets. There was also Haruko shooting her guitar, but there was no blood spray, just unconscious people in heaps on the floor. Maybe I missed the part where they blew out someone's brains, but I never remember FLCL going that far. >>extreme violence and sexual content - all being acted out by adolescent characters.>> What is the point there? I can turn on Fox and seen the same thing without having cable. Even standard cable channels do not compare to Fox. >>It doesn't do any good for The Cartoon Network to display a parental warning prior to its late-night programming because parental codes don't lock out a show based on that type of warning. What works is to rate a show correctly in the first place.>> Sounds like the problem is with the digital cable, or TiVo, or whatever they have in that house. Anyway, the parental warning are all you should need if you have a problem with what you watch. >>We have been in contact with the Federal Communications Commission, the ACLU and organizations dealing with violence against children. We have been spreading the word to educators and churches to raise public awareness about this incorrect rating.>> And these people claim they are not "extremists"? All I have to say to that is *coughbull@$#&cough*
Lo Bastido
I just KNEW some dingbats would raise a ruckus over the Adult Swim block on Cartoon Network. Gah! You won't go broke betting on the stupidity of the lowest common denominator of human being. PS Is that article implying the ACLLU (don't forget the second L, folks) is working with them in this frivolity? If so, that's typically hypocritical of the ACLLU. More than typical, actually. Just hope that if it goes to court some judge somewhere with a bit of sense (yes, judges of that rare type are seen now and again, like Sasquatch) throws their case out before too long. Arkadyz
God im so utterly tired of these extremist parents. They need to grow up and broaden there minds. The fact that they completely blew several aspects of the show completely out of porportion to what really happened shows me there ignorant people just looking to pick a fight over something. Its people like this that force anime onto being played late at night and also needing to be censored. Id love to see an actual debate with these narrow minded souls over this type of thing. Im sure theyd have no good arguments. Sighz dumb oversensitive lousy america...grumble...grumble...:grumble:
Guest Tical
If this gets Adult Swim erased I swear Ill..... THEY ALREADY TOOK IT OFF SATURDAYS FOR THE SAME REASON!!! Lo Bastido
Hmm...I always thought AS was off Fridays and Saturdays because the kiddies were possibly up and around with no school the next morning? :) I only started watching CN in July, so I dunno. :p
shadowfire
A bunch of damned pacifistic goodie goodie activist is all these extremist parents are. Don't they have better things to ***** about ?
G.D. Ryoko
I think that`s pretty stupid.Isn`t FLCL rated TV14? Therefor it`s not ment for children other than 14(even though my baby bro watches it with me.) I mean isn`tAS really for teenagers and adults? I think they are extremest because I talk to my parents everyday about FLCL and I don`t get in trouble or they won`t say I can`t stay up late. Besides I seen other cartoons on CN that have pretty weird things for their ratings. Oh and I think they were talking episode 5 when Haruko was in the towel on but it`s a bit above her waist so you see her backside.

Kwai
I think she had DTv or something... I do, and it says TV-Pg for Fooly Cooly. Anyway, I'm guessing she started watching the show half-way or something, after the 1st commercial finished. From then on, I don't think there are any warnings, and thus caused her to believe that Cartoon Network was deceiving its viewers....
IloveBebop
They warn the viewers about the content of the shows, and adults need a time to watch cartoons. Why else would they put it on so late at night? They schedule AS that late because they know that the content isn't good for kids to watch. That's no reason to sue CN, they show plenty of kiddy programs to make up for it anyway.
Xai
If that's not "extremist" I don't know what is. We feel safe as parents of young teens to allow them to watch television unsupervised even at a late hour because we trust in proper TV ratings and have our family television set with a parental code for anything PG-13 or above. "Young teens", eh? I feel really sorry for her kids then. I can understand why she wouldn't allow them to watch something R-Rated, but they aren't even allowed to watch something appropriate for their age group(PG-13), she might as well not let em' watch TV at all then if she's gonna shelter them like that. We are outraged that it has been rated TV-PG to be openly viewed by kids on, of all places, The Cartoon Network. I thought it was TV-14? And people in general have the wrong assumptions about cartoons. They think they're all for kids. What we are saying is that this particular show is vulgar and dangerous and could possibly incite violence. Most kids are smart enough to tell the difference between fiction and reality. If they aren't, then it's their parents fault for not teaching them right from wrong.
Guest Tical
Tch. This lady is freakin stupid. On the warning it says may not be suitible for children. Yes there is violence and none cares. Theres not even any blood. And theres more nudity in Ed Ed n Eddy and Dexters Lab.
IloveBebop
These people could have done the kind of stuff that's in this show. Some of the things on this show are just part of real life. Do they even realize that fact?
Haruko_Kagome
Thats so stupid...If she dosent want her kids to see that stuff, why does she let them stay up past 11?! she's stupid most of it is real life...*sigh*...humans...never understood them...never will.........
Lone Bebop
Well from listing from what has been said on this thread i have come to this idea The whole thing will blow over in a month or two, this lady has no way to win, As it has been stated above there are warings before almost all them shows, and CN has done the laws editing stuff, i think she is one of them old fashion ladys that thinks " Cartoons" Mine a mouse and a cat beating the crap of each other (Tom and Jerry) i mean there is alot more vilonce in them, So any one else this thing will just blow over in time? MillieFan
I don't even like FLCL and I think this is rather intellectually deficient to say the least. Oh, and by the way, FLCL is rated TV-14 here. Or at least five of the episodes were. I think the other was indeed TV-PG.
Manic Webb
Wanna hear something funny? The FCC doesn't even regulate cable television. The FCC only regulates free broadcast programming (ie. the radio and non-cable broadcast television). Like Xai said, PG-13 programming is intended to be viewed by young teens, and 13 is a young teen age. If you don't want children under 13 to view certain programming late at night, up the settings to include PG. Besides, PG stands for "Parental Guidance." Every now and then, you gotta check out the PG programming to see if it's appropriate for children. Um... does anybody know if this woman even has any kids? IloveBebop
Milliefan, that doesn't really have anything to do with the fact that that idiot is suing CN, except for the ratings. I've seen more nudity in Rugrats. That's a show that's definitely meant for kids, and these babies' butts are showing all the time. Also, you don't even see anyone's teeth get blown out on that show. The most blood you see is when that weird sattelite is coming down, but that only causes nose-bleeds.
kyonen
Sounds to me like some one better write there opinoin on her on the exact same site = nutjob!! But seriously. If you have kids < 10, you SERIOUSly have mental probs if you let your kids watch stuff and actually care what they watch. I mean, if I had a child < 10, I could let him watch wat he wanted. I wouldn't care then if I had, because doing so is like going back on your word, breaking a promise. But I don't think normally I'd let him see stuff he's still not mature enuff for :p
Milliardo
I've said it before and I'll say it again: if you are going to blame TV for your bad parenting skills, you have a very big problem. You can also write to her, or maybe the site where it is posted, to air your views. And write to CN as well for support. It's time to knock some sense on delinquent parents who should be raising their kids well, instead of complaining that their kids are turning into monsters because they can't take care of them when they have all the time to rant.
