Soliel
Nothing gets me more pissed off than parents who complain about violence (or other content) on cartoons. Even more so than minority religions who complain about crap like saying "God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. The point is if they really want to stop, or better yet, prevent, their children from watching shows with adult content is by nipping it in the bud. How well this might actually work is beyond me because I have two of the most over-protective parents in the world, and I was still well versed on shows like South Park and Ren and Stimpy by age 8. But if they really don't want their kids exposed to violence, they can simply get rid of their TV.

But you have basically been stating that or a similar fact over and over. You think it's the children's fault and partly it is, if their parents say not to watch it, they shouldn't. But if their parents can't even control what they are watching on television, they aren't doing a very good job as a parent.

Who can possibly know who's fault it truly is? Is it the parents for not keeping an eye on their kids 24/7 or is it the children's for going behind their parent's back? Is it Cartoon Network for airing the show in the first place? Or is the creator of the actual show for making such a series? Like I said, it's all relative. I don't think I have an opinion anymore. OtakuSennen
Well, that is true that you cannot compare South Park on Comedy Central to Cartoon Network.. However, wherever I have gone, CC is just 4 or 5 channels away from CN.. For some reason, I don't know why. Besides, what is to stop a kiddie from seeing a commercial, saying "I'm bored. Let's see what else is on." And channel surf? Odds are that the kid'll come across SOMETHING bad if it's late at night, whether it be a commercial for an adult film (Not like a MOVIE, but a tape depicting such behavior) or a movie on Spike TV. I've seen more suggestive things on Victoria's Secret commercials on ABC at 9:00 at night than FLCL. I never would have even thought of that popsicle thing representing.. What that lady thinks it means. Haruko's always acting weird like that. It's not out of place.

It has similar content and children have the ability to watch it. I think it's the parent's fault for not monitoring what their children watch. My parents don't have a problem with what I watch, I just can't watch porn. Parents that do let their children watch such shows would be parents to worry about. Waterflash
That's PATHETIC! Bwahahahaha! They had a parental warning and everything. They have all the legal stuff, why should it matter??? I mean this is like the whole Harry Potter thing all over again (Remember when the people used to burn Harry Potter books saying it was witchcraft???) IloveBebop
Well, at least some people (besides me) hate Harry Potter. They're really suggested of witchcraft, but that's beside the point. My point is (this relates to your post in some way), Harry Potter is somewhat worse than FLCL. Harry Potter has a lot more suggestive themes and voilence. It sort of tells children that they can learn witchcraft, or something like that.

G.D. Ryoko
Why would people buy and burn Harry Potter books, that`s a waste of money. Anyway, I find it sad that some people do this. I mean sure FLCL isn`t the best thing to have a younger child watch but does it really mean that the rest of us has to be affected? I usually find these things strange because I can watch anything I want, even x-rated stuff if I chose to. It really bothers me a lot when people aren`t open minded but that wouldn`t make me any better so as usual I will respect others opinions and shut up. I still can`t get over the whole Harry Potter thing though.

I find many websites of wiccans who were pissed because people thought Harry Potter is what they are all about. And ALSO, one of my best friends in high school was a wiccan. IloveBebop
Sorry, I didn't see that sentence. I guess there are a lot of people that believe in witchcraft (I'm not one of them). People should know that logic does have a conflict with the whole witchcraft school crap. I don't think that there's a special place for witches and wizards ( they would really be called warlocks), and if people do, they're really stupid. I hope that doesn't offend you. edward-tivrushy
well It didn't say she sued cartoon network but the points she made haha that never ever happens and why is she outraged? it wasn't like the kids were watching it too. and the thing she wrote was made at the time flcl started it is kinda a lame notice too she abviously had overeacted. (and flcl is the greatest anime I have ever seen ) so I don't see why she thought all this violence and nudity was all there because it wasn't. well it is but it's all in for humor and stuff. it was never meant to be taken seriously the series is overall a humor not hentai not violence. I rest the case (although, it may have been already settled)
IloveBebop
Well, firstly, you should learn to type with proper grammar, it's part of the rules. If you haven't read them, you should. Secondly, with all typigrahical errors aside, you have made a few good points, which were made earlier. I've made that mistake before, don't worry about it right now. Snake Pliskin
I think that its crap to sue cn for anime. I mean jez everything that ive seen on adult swim isnt that bad, i mean regular television has worse stuff on it than adult swim. I mean its adult swim for a reason people. Its ok to try to protect your kids from watching inapropriate stuff by suing cn isnt going to be the answer for this. I think some parents just need to calm down. Anyways those are my thoughts on that:flaming: .
Cocomi Myojin
I agree with EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU IN THIS THREAD! Gyaaahhhh! I tell you, some parents try to protect their children from things that aren't even necessary! Like Most extremists, she made that confirmation sound like a dissapointing matter with a clerk, or whatever. I just wanted to tell her to shut uip! She has no right to-*pulls out katana* I'm going to go over to her house and rip out her cable! Hey, who knows? She could have a dysfunctional family and wants some attention. Rockstar Haruko
Everyone's right! FLCL is the best!!! The lady didn't say this, but she probably only watched one episode!! Whatever she saw was not what FLCL was all about. That show has an even deeper meaning. About growing up and stuff. Something that all kids have to go through. Cartoon Network provides shows for all age groups so they had a right to put FLCL up. I don't hear anyone ranting about Cowboy Bebop! That had a little of everything in there!! (And I loved that show too!!) She's probably the only one going on about this show while every other adult is busy enjoying it. Not only that, the woman went on about violence, there is violence in a lot of CN's shows. It's all right for Elmer Fudd to try to shoot and kill Bugs Bunny or Daffy. It's all right for a dog to chase after a cat with a lawn mower, running over it a few times, but it's not ok for a girl to go around hitting people with guitars in which she doesn't even kill them. The lady needs to think over what she's talking about!!!!! With that said, Haruko shuts up... I'm so weird.:twitch:
Kanariya
Three words....That's freakin wrong. 1.One, now and days there is porn on TV all the time at night. For crying out loud why would a kid be staying up till 12:00 AM??? Watch your kids people! 2.Two, adult swim had a parental advisory thing. It warns kids under 14 should NOT watch adult swim. ADULT swim???? Get the picture???? 3.Three, why the freak is a person letting their kid stay up late watching stuff they aren't supposed to??? But anyway, the kid is gonna learn about porn and stuff anyway. I mean come on lady!! 4.Four, there are WORSE shows then Fooly Cooly. If you have a young kid you know there will be bad shows on at night so DON'T LET THEM!!! This is gonna be in my head forever! :bash: Stupid parents... DragonArcher
That is so wrong! Yah,it is called Adult Swim for a reason. I like FLCL, its really funny. Its on late at night for a reason, what are "young teens" doing up so late at night on the weekdays anyways, don't they have school? if they are going to sue Cartoon Network for showing FLCL, then shouldn't they sue Comedy Central(not that I want them to,thats the last thing I want) for showing South Park and the Man Show,oh,don't forget Crank Yankers.
