Alexander
I'm beginning feel that signatures are being abused around here at the Otakuboards. The sheer size of the signatures some people have here are ridiculus. I like signatures and have no problem with them, but some have signatures that take up well over my whole screen, and I'm running at my computer's maximum: 1024x860. I spend more time scrolling past signatures than on the actual posts themselves. Would someone please limit the signature sizes? Huge signatures *are* *not* *needed*: I have been to message boards where two simple lines express more individuality than what I'm seeing here. I'm *not* suggesting that they be restricted down that low or anything like that, but there must be a reasonable limit set *somewhere*. Or maybe change the system so that your signature only appears automatically on your first post-per-topic, and then if you *really* want it to appear again you can turn it on again when you reply. All that being said, there are many, many people whom keep thier signatures reasonable. I do not frequent all of the Otakuboards, so I do not know if this applies to all areas, either. I apologize if I've offended anyone, but I feel something must be done.
DeathKnight
A few people have outlandishly long signatures- rediculous, really. I'd hate to see limits come back again, but it seems those people cant see the idiocy in a page long signature with pure crap in it. Ugh.
Semjaza
I created one of the bigger threads on this subject in here awhile back. It caused many people to address their signatures. Rather recently, there was another thread on this subject. For some reason people don't think one signature containing text and images taking up your entire screen is a problem. I personally do. There's no reason to have an entire song in your profile with every other word on another line... or a club where every member has their own line. It's ridiculous. I try to keep mine as small as possible, while still including the stuff I'd like to. It's not hard to do. I don't think it is too much to ask either. I'm not even bothered by most... but if you measure some they are over a foot in length. Others could take up an entire 1024x768 pixel screen. That's just insane. I do realize some other boards are worse, but even so. OB isn't other boards lol. I've PMed people in the past asking for them to do something about it, but really that's all I can do. They don't have to listen to me, really. There is no rule about it anywhere, I just think it is common courtesy. I'm hoping it will be addressed finally in v7. Desbreko
Yeah, I've also been noticing this again lately. It's getting to be as bad as just before James put up the eight-line limit. (Which I liked, and wish was still in effect). I've PMed one person about an overly long signature already, and I think I'm going to be doing so more often again. The way I see it, though, there may not be a written rule against long signatures, but at the moment, the rules page isn't even up. And besides, I think James would agree a signature taking up a full screen length or more on 1024x768 should be dealt with. That's just insanely long for a signature.
James
At the moment, our signature controls are disabled. And so we do not have any specific length rules. However, we do recommend a maximum of 8-10 lines or so. In other words, common sense must be used. If you want to place something very long in your signature, I recommend signing up for myOtaku and linking to that instead. Then, you can post all of the stuff you want...whether it's song lyrics, buddy lists or something else.

Guest rsj1
I have been running forums for a few years now and I know how out of hand sigs can get... I have had a few members who have added three or four 800x600 (or bigger) pictures into theirs before! Since then I have added rules on my forums to prevent people from having more than one smallish picture (preferably a banner) and too much text. There are always those who don't read the rules but I have found if you drop them a nicely worded PM they will change it very quickly and be nice about it. If they aren't nice a bout it I ban them :P
Boo
Yeah yeah i already cut back my Buddy list (though i still have it well hidden buhehe) but yesh some have really big sigs like for instant Ticals (although hes banned oO) he has a huge buddy list but it would be less huge if he lined them up this way: Buddies: Double_B_Daigo, Spotg67, MillionKnives88, T man, Lone, Bebop, Shadow Misaki, Trigun_11, eino89, Chou Long Kai Saves a lot of space already @_@ or for instant people who do like 20 enters before they do their next piece of signature lol. Something should happen alright but limits give trouble =/ Higher people: the new look of OB rules lol (much better ^_~)
