Probably no one is going to care about this, but over the past few days the Harley Davidson motorcycle company has been celebrating it's 100th year.

There are literally thousands of models and millions of riders located all over the world. At the parade that ended no more than two hours ago, I saw people from all over the world. Brazil, The Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and even Australia.

I was hoping to see The Harlequin or maybe Shy roll across the street on a Harley, but we all have dissapointments in life.

Congrats to Harley Davidson for 100 years.
And heres to another 100!

I personally like how harley davidson's look! I mean the only reason that you would need a really fast Motorcycle in the first place would be if you race with them! Plus the Harly aint really THAT slow!

To my knowledge, people who ride Harley's don't do it for the speed..they do it for the feel of the road run on by a high quality, well-built machine.
And it's no doubt in my mind they are one of the top motercyle producers in the world. They wouldn't last 100 years if they weren't, would they?
Congradulations Harley Davidson, for making fine quality machines for 100 years. You're definatly doing something right.

my dad used to have a Harley. One of his friends trashed it when I was little. My dad couldn't fix it. The next time his friend came over, I kicked him real hard. Now, I almost have my license and my dad's gonna get me a Harley when I get a car!! YAY!! But anywho, when I heard on the news that it was Harley Davidson motorcycle's 100th birthday, I ran downstairs and yelled to my mom, "Break out the party favors!" I was soooo happy!!

I'm a mad Harley fan. I know it sounds crazy coming from a girl but I seriously want to own one when I eventually get the time to go for the all inclusive 21 test that is possible to learn on a Harley, get all of the geer thrown in and then have the opportunity of buying the bike you've learnt to ride. *sighs* but I've got to wait for some time yet and I've got to save up.

I know in Britian (yes I'm British) that Harleys are popular but not very pratical unless you happen to live down south where it is a hell of a lot warmer. The appeal of a Harley though is that it is the bike monster.

It looks good, sounds the bizz and okay they're not the most quickest or reliablest of things but once you've driven a Harley (or been a pillion passenger in my case) then you're hooked. Speed isn't the only thing that catches peoples attention. You have to look the part of a Rocker to get really noticed!!!

There are different models of Harleys. Some faster than others. Most Harleys are made for distance driving, road crusing. They're not for young morons who like to cut people off in traffic and do other annoying things. Obviously there's something going on, because rather recently Japanese manufacturers have tried to emulate the Harley look.

Many riders cut their pipes too, especially on Harleys. If someone had a Harley with everything intact, they're generally not that loud in my opinion.

I've grown up in a biker family all my life. My dad was a high up member of the Chicago section of ABATE. ABATE is a biker club that does things to help out the community and such. They're part of the factor behind Toys for Tots for example. They always have these crazy parties, so it's hard to imagine them being like this... but most bikers I've met are very nice people.

My dad had a few bikes. I don't remember what they were at this point. I do remember he had a rather large chopper though, which was very cool. He wound up dying in a motorcycle accident though.

My step dad has a full dressed. He doesn't use it as much as he used to, I assume since he got into a big accident on it. The thing was totally repaired since then.

I used to have a sportster, but I never put up the cash to get it fixed... so some one else wound up taking it and fixing it themselves. I've not seen that guy in a while though.

My mum used to hang out with Bikies. But Harleys are not tractors, they have a wonderful deep bass sound, they are not, and never have been intended to go super-fast, they are the Hawks of the Road. If you have ever seen someone on a HArley, maybe you would understand.

I do not like green eggs and ham....

Or this celebration.

I live just south of Milwaukee, and I am painfully sick of all the extra motercycles on the roads. People started showing up a week ago, and things have just been a mess. It's nervewracking to try and drive down the highway, because a great deal of them have no qualms about driving however the heck they like...never mind, you know, traffic laws.

There was a pretty bad accident the other night involving a car, a semi, and a couple motercyclists from Mexico. / The car caused it, I believe, but...yeah.

Radio stations are playing slightly different music to appeal more to what they believe the riders' tastes are. At least one station keeps giving special welcomes to all our couple thousand guest listeners...WELCOME, HARLEY RIDERS!!! /

The noise hasn't been annoying me, simply because we don't right by any roads people would normally take to get somewhere. Last night, though, a trio of motorcycles, who am I convinced were hopelessly lost ("is this Milwaukee?") drove down our street. I have no idea why--we live at the end of a dead end road. There's nothing to see... Heh.

I'll be glad when this weekend is over.

Awww, Sara... You make me sad.

I love the ability to see all the different machines of the Harley factories.
Some of them I bet even you would like.

And to everyone that said something about Harleys not being fast, they make a Harley with a V8 motor in it (stock). The horsepower is somewhere along the lines of 550hp and they have yet to max out the motor for speed. The last speed they hit was about 120mph. I'd say that that's pretty fast.

I think it is awesome to drive around the highways with the Harleys. I think they are so cool. but I'd probably look really stupid in my minivan trying to race the Harleys! (>.<)

As for the lost motercycles, I think it is funny--Where I work we get a lot of riders asking for directions, and most of the time they are miles off, but they're always real grateful when you point them in the right direction.
Most of them are real curtious and stuff, I don't think of them as a nuisance at all.
