Tog
I fell in love with this little gem of a parody at WonderCon 03 after watching the first episode. For months afterwards I searched and searched for a place to rent the DVDs (I'm too poor to buy anything), when I finally found the prized DVDs my quest was only half over. I went through the 26 episode series like a dream. I was in tears by the last episode, not because it was sad, but because I knew that I would never see any new Trouble Chocolate again. I searched once again, not for DVDs, but TC fans like myself. Unlike the first mission, this one failed. I was unable to find anyone else who liked it, or who had even heard of it. So, this is my last cry for anyone who enjoyed it, or even saw the whole series. Please voice your opinions now! Let yourself be heard about this wonderful anime parody! Semjaza
Finally. Thank you. I have been trying to figure out what the hell the name of this anime was. I saw it at the store and thought it looked really cool... and once I got home, I kept thinking it was called Orange Chocolate or something. I got no results on that. So, now that I know that, I'd also like it know what it is really about, please :)
Tog
Cacao is a normal student with a strange allergy to chocolate. Once he eats chocolate he becomes 'drunk'. He ate his magic professor's chocolate bar that was a couple hundred years past the experation date and sneezed during a spell causing a tree spirit to go into life-size doll. Enter Hinano, the ditzy greenhaired love interest. Anyway, the story is about them and the crazy adventures they go on. It's funny, it's cute, and it's parody! The few people who've seen it don't seem to realize that.
eleanor
Parody? Parody of what....? O_o But anyways, the anime sounds interesting enough. Might check it out...
Tog
It's just a parody on anime. Mostly Shoujo anime. There's a lot of Ranma 1/2 references, too.
Inkwolf
I signed up at this forum just to post a reply to this 6-year-old topic. The first time I tried to watch TC, I rolled my eyes five minutes into Episode 1 and stuck it back on the shelf. (I got the first two discs in an Ebay lot.) The second time I watched further and was eventually captivated enough by the goofy humor to buy the rest of the series off Ebay (where you can get all five discs for generally about $10.) Note--the English dub is way funnier than the subs. The third time I watched all the way through to find fodder for AMV Blitz clips, and while I don't care much about the main characters, I completely fell in love with Micro-Grand academy and its teachers and the general atmosphere and setting. If I had the time and know-how, I'd want to make an adventure game set there. Okay, I know the reviews are bad, the stories are weak, and the characters are mostly stock, but somehow this series has charmed me with its psychotic mind waves, and it's sad that there's no fan base to chat with.
