Dragonballzman
Ah...Yeah, I've heard about this on another board. I personally don't think it's gonna do well at all. I've got nothing against F-Zero, but...Well, the races are gonna get pretty old, pretty quick. Sure, it's fast, theres danger at all times, but after a few races you'll have seen it all before, which is when the half assed plots start to show up. I personally think that after the first ten episodes it's gonna end up being a high-speed Wacky Races. Falcon: OMGZ I GONNA WIIIN!1!!/1111!!! Samurai Gorah (is that his name? Go-somthing. I can't remember >_<): LOLOLLLL I PLANT TRAP ON TRACK RACERS GO BOOM HEHEHEH!1!!11 Falcon: BRUM BRUM BRUM OMGZ TRAP!!!!!!111111111!!1 ONOZ! Samurai guy: HAHAHAHAHAHAH *omgz flacno dodge sss and samauria goeos BOBOBOOOMMM111!!!1!!* Falcon: omgz i win!111!!!111 happy :) There's also the classic "Falcons car gets sabotaged", but I don't think you all want to sit through another prediction. XD Anyone ever seen Nascar Racers? Cars doing sonic-style loop thingies while going really fast and cars blowing up, then unimaginative kidnapping and conspiracy plots and stuff outside of the races. That's basically what I'm expecting. >_>
Semjaza
I heard about this a couple weeks ago at least. I don't think that will be the case. This isn't Hanna Barbara's Wacky Races. There are many well defined characters in the game series, although some more than others. I think, that if they do it properly, it will work. It's not exactly going to be aimed at small childen (like Nascar Racers was) from the things I've read anyway. F-Zero appeals to a different set of people and there's no reason they can't write in such a way that would reflect that. The story mode in F-Zero GX just scrapes the surface of a lot of those characters. Most anime sucks as it is. I don't expect this to be amazing, but I do expect it to be decent at least. Hopefully it will turn out.
James
And if you can dismiss an F-Zero anime, you can also dismiss a Pokemon anime and countless others. There are many "popular" animes that have been based on video games. F-Zero GX seems to put much greater emphasis on the stories of characters. There's no reason to immediately dismiss an F-Zero anime series...it's better to reserve judgement until you see it.
Dragonballzman
Meh. If it turns out good I'll take back what I said, but for now I'm basing my prediction on all the other racing cartoons I've seen... and they weren't exactly amazing. At least that means the F-Zero anime doesn't have much competition. XD
Guest Anime_Forever
F-Zero was an anime in the 80s. so was zelda and mario.
The Battosai
I doubt it will be anything special, and is most likely being made just to cash in on the popularity of the game. Same thing with Enter The Matrix and countless other game / movie - tv shows.
Semjaza
I don't know how F-Zero could be an anime in the 80s considering the game was created in the 90s. I don't know what the hell you're thinking of, but it wasn't F-Zero. F-Zero isn't even popular in Japan. It has very little to cash in on at all over there. I think it's an attempt to make a quality show so that people might actually go buy the game. If you've played F-Zero GX, go read the character profiles... they all have a surprising amount of past history, even in the little blurbs in the game. I think they could make something quite good from it.
hiachi
He may be thinking of Speed Racer, although even with the similarites to F-Zero, its not that easy to confuse them......
Semjaza
That and Speed Racer is from like the 60s... heh.
Shinmaru
If there was an F-Zero anime, I'd certainly check it out. I've read some of the backstory on the characters (even though I haven't been able to buy the game yet...sucks to be cheap) and it is surprisingly detailed. There's some good stuff hidden under the racing. It's quite fun to read through. So, yeah, if the backstory is explored to its fullest potential, then an F-Zero anime could end up being really good. But I'll hold off opinion until I actually see something.
Dr. Eggman
Yeah F-Zero anime that is a good idea .... BTW I Was Being Sarcastic It would get old real quick
OtakuSennen
O_o An F-Zero anime? Um.. *cough cough* Yeah. So the people in Japan are gonna make an F-Zero-based anime to sell there, eh? Semjaza's correct, this series is primarily popular in America.. Which makes you wonder, did they put Falcom in F-Zero just because he is on a Nintendo-exclusive franchise and they couldn't think of another character that was as vibrant with the wide array of attacks, or because they planned to sell it in the US in the first place, and he would help get more buyers? Let's keep it at this: If the story mode didn't thrill me that much, (especially 'cause of the voices. Oi vei.) will the anime keep me entertained? -_- That's unlikely.. Guest Anime_Forever
Maybe it wwas early 90s but I know its true because it said it In Nintendo Power magazine. There was Zelda, Mario, Sonic, and another show that FEATURED F-Zero.
Desbreko
There might have been an episode or two of Captain N or something that featured F-Zero, but there was no series devoted to F-Zero. I agree with OtakuSennen, though. The story mode in F-Zero GX was really, and I mean really cheesy. (Though the missions themselves were pretty fun for the most part). Unless they come up with something substantially better for the anime, I can't see it being very good. I can hope, though...
Turkey
Well, there are anime like Slamdunk and Prince of Tennis which take a normal sport and make a long, interesting series of it. Their success came because of the deep and interesting characters. If they emulate that in F-Zero, it could be a hit.
Semjaza
I think the story mode was meant to be cheesy. The whole game is really, at least that's how the character designs lead me to think lol. However, my point was not that it was stupid... but that the characters obviously already have their own motivations and backgrounds and such. They have a lot to play around with, and since SEGA isn't involved, it probably won't be a problem. All of SEGA's arcade based games seem to have some cheesy quality to them.
