Rules at School

I guess my school is pretty lax. The only thing it really cracks down on in terms of appearance is gang clothes. Gang colors, chains, baggy pants, and chains are not allowed to be worn. This doesn't really affect me much, plus no one really gets in trouble for it if they do break it.

 Wow, that's quite strict compared to my school... We're not allowed to chew gum in class (not that teachers really notice if you do), you can't use the internet at school more than 15 times a month, if you're late more than 3 times a week you get two hours detention.. And that's about it. We're allowed to wear whatever we want, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the second formers showed up in bikini's some day... Ok, so you have to take off your coat and hat, but that's not really a rule.

It's weird though, most people who have to wear schooluniforms hate those things, but I think it would be so much easier if we had them...

I agree with that. Sure, when I was in school, i had blue hair and still wear some of the most outragious things I can come up with, that should not be what school is about, and if you are too preoccupied with being just like or more different than everyone else, what do you learn?

There's only one rule at my school that I don't agree with, and that is that if a class wants to have the internet switched on in the classroom, they have to book a day beforehand. It can get extremely inconvenient if you just want to do some quick research, because you'll have to go to the library or something else unless you have the internet already on.

We aren't allowed gum in class. Stupid. Just stupid.

We can't bleach or streak our hair. Again, stupid. I have streaked hair, and no-one has said anything. It's as if the rule doesn't even stand. Yet it's outlined, underlined, and in bold in the school diaries as "Rule No.2". :drunk:

Deoderants aren't allowed at school. Got no idea why. Not even the roll-on stuff.

My school is just stupid. Some of the new rules they got this year don't even need to be put on the earth at all.

We can't go to the bathroom during lunch unless we finish then we have to wait in a line for 10 min. but if we don't go before lunch is over then we have to wait until we get home. Some people don't get their lunch until 5 min before it's over.

We have to have gym no matter how sick we are unless we have a note from a doctor. Notes from parents don't count anymore. So if our leg is gone, we still have to have gym and if we don't they call home.

Now the whole school has to sit for 30 min and read or be read to, without doing anything else. Not standing, taking tests, sneezing, breathing, or living. (overexaggerating)

Anyone in the hall without a signed agenda will get I.S.S.

In the hall you have to stay pressed against the right side of the hall so everybody can have room to get through. The halls are 10 ft. wide and we have to stay on the wall. Nobody's that big.

You have 2 min to get to class or you'll be marked tardy and given a level 1 and some people have to walk to the other side of the school. (Me being one of those people)

If a male put their hands on a female then the female has the right to slap them but if they don't they get suspended.

At my school we also have to wear IDs. If you don't you get a detension on the spot. It doesn't really bother me however. I see the purpose for it, and it doesn't really bother me.

Girls can't wear short shorts/skirts, I can't remeber how long they have to be exactly; and your stomach can't be shown(no short shirts). This doesn't bother me a bit. Open toed shoes are also not allowed, though people still do it. Pants can't sag low enough to where you see ones underwear.

If you get in a fight and someone hits you, but you don't hit back, you and the other person get suspended. I could see a reason for this.

Thats about it.

I cant see a reason for you getting suspended for getting the crap beaten outta you without throwing a punch. Here, you get 5 days suspension whether you throw one punch or beat the other guy to a pulp. Doesn't really help too much, all it does is encourage the rage (as they won't get in more trouble, no matter how much they fight after that one swing).

Since our school is so laid-back, I think a side effect is practicality. We don't get too many stupid rules (unless enforced by the school board, i.e. no cell phones) and I for one am QUITE thankful for that.

School is no place for cell phone, and the idea of allowing them is absolutely ridiculous to me. Having been out of high school for some time now, maybe my view is different from some of you, but if you want to talk about distraction? Boys with spikey hair have nothing on cell phones. In college, it is out of hand, I'll be sitting in lecture halls and about 3 times in an hour and a half, they'll go off. A lot of my prof. docked grades for it.

My school is pretty cool with the rules. Nothing out ragous. I mean, there is the rule that your not alowed to kiss, hug, and what not, but thats never really inforced uless you do it directly infront of the teachers. Where alowed to wear baggy clothes, jsut as long your under wears not showin and your not walking around, holding you pants up. No hats, but thats just for respect. No dirty dancing at cances, but they all know we do it. So we'll go for it for about 5-6 minutes, then the teahcers have to come up and break it up, but its only with a stare. No chains or spikes, but thats not out rageuos, its jsut cuz it could be easily used as a weapon. My school does give out a planner, but its up to the teachers to what we do with it. My school is pretty good with the rules, its tjsut some of the boring classes i hate.

To me, the only bad rules are the mass amount of paper workyou have to bring home to the parents. And you get detention easily. i.e. two missed homework assignments or two tardies. And that we only get 4 minutes to get our books and ise the bath room during passin period. I cool with everything else.

This sounds outrageous to me. Since I'm not used to (such strict) rules, I'd feel myself obliged to break them. But then again, I'm a rebel :D woohoo.:naughty:

My school just made some new rules this year i wasent so happy with. They started the whole id tag thing u all talk of, no short shorts (who wears them anyways) you are now asigned parking spots for the whole year. Teachers and seniors get first pick, i being a junior am not happy about this. Also you must come in the frount doors since all others are locked. my classes and locker are on differnt sides of the school, but at least i dont have to dress in school uniform.
