Dead Alice
Most of my close friends like anime (okay so like 3 of them -_-) Poor Nick doesn't have cable so all he likes is Gundam Wing (he has like every episode on cd). At least he saw 1 ep. of Yu-Gi-Oh! and thought it was interesting. And Sephi just likes FF7 and she doesn't have cable either. And Fesha doesn't really like anything but InuYasha. So it's just me and Kai. THE REAL OTAKU(S)!

The Battosai
I like anime, but my friends aren't into nearly as much as I am. They watch some Trigun, some Cowboy Bebop, but still do not really understand what anime is about. I can tell by how they talk about it.

Sara
I don't watch anime, I just spend my free time at an anime-obsessed board. Most of my (male) friends are into anime. Moreso than most of the members I've seen here, actually. / Not that I spend a lot of time in the AL, but whatever. I can usually keep track of the threads here, but I've never heard of some of the shows they tell me to watch. (Like I have the time or opportunity, ergh.) So yeah. I have friends who watch anime far more than I ever will, heh. I also have friends who can't pronounce it. Fun.
outlawstar69
Hello all. (extends greetings to everyone willing to take one) At my school, I'm a senior this year. Just about everybody in my age group who liked anime graduated last year, when I was a junior. I'm still in contact with them, and we can get some conversations going (especially with the foreign exchange student from japan) but it's not the same. My class is really small, and I live in an area that largley homogeneic: they're all very simaler to each other, not personality wise but you can guess what I mean. When i was in 1oth grade I think, I got ridiculed for watching dbz, but as a rockin senior my self esteem has gone way up from then, and I proudly where whatever anime shirt I like. Ha! I say. I like alot of anime that has never or will never be on tv here in the US. I like for instance Getbackers and Slayers, wolf's rain and love hina, and that's a small listing of what I like. I'm glad Miyazaki's movies are coming here by disney, that will increase the viewing range of people. My mom never got to see a good bit of anime (her first look at anime was seeing vegeta as a saiyen ozaru. Not the best one for a first I guess. I think my many siblings are slightly influencing her though : she bought spirited away on dvd, because she thought it looked a bit different, like it was better quality. (which it is). I need to wrap this post up... in other words I think it's sad that alot of people I know won't watch anime because "they're cartoons" . Makes me sad american tv didn't take the same route anime did. Shows like Ed, Edd and Eddy, beavis and buthead and ren and stimpy mess up the whole industry. Blah.
XeEmO
I have a few friends that watch anime every once in a while, but only one friend that likes anime as much as I do. I know of a few people at my school (besides my friends) that like anime, but I haven't bothered talking to them. I think most people just don't understand that anime is ment for adults as well as children.

Syk3
I have been debating this question for a while, but only recently have I come to a final conclusion. Lately, as anime becomes more and more involved in my life, I've actually been choosing my friends around it rather than the other way around...that is, only talking about anime with the people that like it. Maybe it's a coincidence, and maybe not, but it seems that all of my good friends enjoy anime to some extent. A few people that I used to regard as friends over the past few years I have grown apart from, one of the reasons being that they do not like anime and will gang up on me about it with some of their other friends. So basically, the people that I do regard as friends in real life, both in my old neighborhood and my new one, all know and like anime a lot. This doesn't necessarily refer to people I talk to once in a while if I'm in their class or something; I'm talking about good friends. Yes, I know it's sad. Spikey
I have two friends that know what it is and like it and watch it. That's about it. I know a couple people that watch it, but they're a little older than me. I have a lot of friends who know I watch it, they are just not into it, and I have a lot of friends who don't know I watch it. If they did they wouldn't care if I watched it or not. I hang out with soccer lovers, and Gamefreaks they do not care.
outlawstar69
Saying that makes me miss my departed senior friends of yesteryear.... blah. Ah well, I still have some friends left at school who like anime, which is good. And my 4 -5 other siblings like it too, although that's not the same. Life isn't always a buquet of roses, I guess. Guest DarkMage1313
Some of my friends do, and some of my friends don't. I kind of accidently started a HUGE manga craze at school. :animeswea I had no idea how it happened, but it just did. So now, I have some friends that LOVE manga, and some that either A. don't understand the point. or B. have no idea what it is. So I'm good! The ones that don't like manga and anime keep me from losing my mind. ^-^
Guest Kai Lover
My friends know and they think I'm stupid, but I'm like whatever. I'll like what I like! They can make fun of me but words can't bring me down! Hey, I wear my trigun shirt to school on free dress days. My friends think I'm weird because of it. It's really hard to find people to talk to about anime. That's why I love this site! I ask people at school about anime and everyone is like, "What's anime?" And I just say to forget it. I feel like a dork sometimes but everyone loves my drawings. (I'm a master anime drawer) Gosh, I love you people!
i have that a lot as well. i have only two friends that know what anime is and all my other friends are as ways asking me why i watch cartoons but when i go to tell them they just get lost and tell me to forget about it. it's hard to find one preson who like anime where i live and i am glad to have two friends that know what it is. xmystic_silverx
Most of my friends know what anime is and my really good ones like anime, probably more than I do. I mean, I guess I'm like you, I don't say, atleast to people who barely know what it is,that I like it because they have a tendency to give me this face saying something like "You're joking, right?" Most of the people at my school are neutral about it. If they don't like it they won't say it's stupid. They just nod... which kinda makes me wonder what their thinking. Roflocopter
Are they really your friends If you tell them you like anime and they stop being your friends? Alot of my friends don't know what anime is. I am friends with everyone at my school, and they ALL know I like anime. And they still like me. I guess It is because I am funny. But I am friends with Goths, Preps, the popular kids, jocks, pretty much every clique and streotype you can come up with. And none of them care that I like anime, all of them are really nice people. I don't know why but, my school is really cool about my anime craze. Of course maybe they just overlook it because I practically like every type of music, therefor "putting me" In one fo there streo types. But to tell you the truth, I dont know. Are they really your friends helba? If they stop being your friend after you tell them, they are pretty much not real cool people. Oh yeah and to clear some thigns up for people. Anime are cartoons, just darker cartoons, with more mature themes. American cartoons dont suck, Alot of animes actually suck, just like some american cartoons suck.I am in no way implying I dont like anime I love it, but some of it sucks just like some american cartoons suck.
Lord Dante
In my oppinion, the answer to the "friends disliking anime, therfore you" thing is simple: keep no friends. Does no harm to to you, and is foolproof.
Tyler Koregaten
Same thing here. When I asked my friends if they knew what anime was, they said, "Is it like a Hawaiian dance or something?" Then I'm like "nevermind." Oh, wait. My friend Kanata Hemmi knew what anime was.(At least one knew. :animesigh You're very welcome. P.S. ChemAngel
well...in high school, I WAS that friend that didn't know about anime. one of my closest friends was totally into it and wanted me to try ramna 1/2. The romance part of it made me interested...but I just couldn't see myself watching something that seemed a little exaggerated. years later...and a cowboy bebop series finished...I was well on my way to becoming an anime fan. My family know I'm into anime, and are constantly joking me for it. Even though I've managed to get my two brothers and my baby cousin into it. LOL My classmates don't realized that I like anime nor do they know that I play video games. They are under the assumption that one that is into that stuff is 1)unsophisticated 2) idiotic 3) too nerdy to do anythign else 4) a boy It is because of this that I have no problem in telling anyone that I enjoy anime and that not all anime is pokemon or porn. I want them to realize that the stereotype isn't true. They can't call me stupid for it since I am very educated and am top of my class at pharmacy school. LOL...ironically, I finally met a fellow pharmacy student that was also into anime. Granted his is older and married, but we enjoy swapping anime and mangas...and discusing it. Neither of us have a problem discussing it in front of people...nor do we have a problem switching topic of conversations with ease (another misconception is that anime fans can only talk about anime...which isn't true) I just hope that I am helping people realize how silly their stereotypes are sometimes
randalion
I do have two friends that like anime, but one of them are more into the more kiddy anime.(thats not a bad thing, just something i dont watch)....Anyways, most of my friends make anime seem like its all pokemon! Im like....NO!!!!!! .....But they were never bothered about my continous anime speeches (At least I hope) :animeswea The people I hang out with all have differant interests so we dont critisize each other because of what we like.
