The Battosai
There is an anime club at my High School (cool!). I joined last Thursday at its first meeting. We are gonna be watching uncut versions of anime, not the edited stuff at CN. We got to watch Hellsing thursday which was awesome. None of my friends are REALLY into anime like me, they just watch a little. We can also play card games, like Yu-Gi-Oh afterwards, or just chat. It's really cool. :D
Annie
Umm..good for you then..it's nice that there are ppl who love anime like us, when most of the time there's not..

Zephyr
My city's library has an anime club. Technically it is actually a "Review Board" for all new incoming titles, so that they are not placed in a wrong section. The only problem is, very few people have been showing up recently. This has made the future of the group a bit shaky, and they are already planning on making the meeting every other week, instead of each week. Thinking of which, I still need to finish the review for one of the titles. :p

There's an anime club at my college, and from their website it looks like they show pretty decent stuff, and stuff I haven't seen. But, I don't want to go by myself :p. What if they're all weird anime freaks??? Oh wait .... I should really just get up my courage and go one time ....... or drag one of my friends along :). Syk3
My high school has an anime club, which I originally joined in my Freshman year when it was an actual club without knowing anyone and by going off of what I heard on the overhead announcements. We had anime club every Friday, and it was the standard to watch it uncut and everything. I'm sure everyone would have left if it was edited like Cartoon Network, lol. o_o;; Anyway, there were a lot of hardcore anime fans in the club. We had tons of anime, some of which I borrowed a few times, and we had a great time. Anime for 2 hours, pizza for a dollar, what more could you want? The following year, it kind of degressed. It was never an actual club, and we had random meetings on random days, since the old president had gone. We still watched some great anime, both subbed and dubbed, all uncut, most of which I had never even heard of. This year, the "Vice President" last year is now the president, and I'm the Vice President. We were supposed to have an official club this year with a steady sponser, but over the summer he got another job, so now we're on the hunt for another teacher again. ~_~' Good luck to us, I say. In any case, we were able to have our very first meeting this year last Friday, and we saw Magic Users Club, of which I'm going to make a thread about in a second. I'm going to be getting Hellsing and Berserk for my birthday, so we'll most likely be watching those in upcoming weeks, and I'm sure I won't care if I have to see them again (in addition to at home when I first get them, of course). Next year I have a guarunteed spot to be the President of the anime club, so that's cool. Let's hope I have a lot of different kinds of anime by then, and actually make it a real club, heh. So yeah, that's all we do, watch anime and each pizza. We occasionally chat at the beginning, but half the people are in my lunch period anyway so we get it out of our systems then. Everyone there is really into anime, and I'm really happy for that, lol. As for the kinds of animes we watch, we see all sorts of them. Funny, serious, fan service (o_O;;), dubbed, subbed, etc. So yeah, that's my anime club story. Keep a look out for my Magic Users Club thread. IloveBebop
Wow, some of you are so lucky! There might be an anime club where I'm going to high school at, but I have no idea about that yet. If there is, I'll be the first to sign up!
Angelus_Necare
I'm working on getting one from my highschool. It's great that there's support for it among the student body, the only problem is we have to have teacher supervision in any school clubs. This poses a problem as far as showing uncut anime, it may not fly with some teachers. But I'm working hard, and I'll do it at the public library if I have to. Another problem is that I'm a senior this year, so if the club does get off the ground, It may only last for a year, but like I said, there has to be hope. And for you people who don't have clubs in your school, start one! Thay have to come from someone ;)
IwakuraLain
theres am anime club in my hs too and we've got more members than we know what to do with since we only expected 10 people or so and our classrooms only have room for 30!! last year about 40-50 ppl showed up but only 15 or so ended up being hardcore fans and the rest of em were cartoon-network watchers. anyway we've got about 5 or 6 club officers who are the most psychotic anime freeks i've ever seen (they're my heroes haha) and its really great because everybody has so many dvds/bootleg videos and so there are so many options for what series to watch or borrow for urself. it was really hard to get the club off the ground since all clubs have to have some kind of educational basis so they just bull****d some stuff about learning/understanding japanese culture. anyway i'm the officer/hopefullypresident-in-training since all our officers are now seniors!
Dan Rugh
I found out that there is an anime club at my university when I saw a kid with a shirt on that said "PSU Anime Club." I wouldn't actually join this club, but it was interesting to know that we have one here.

TheGodlyME
I want an anime club at my school so badly; unfortunately for me, I live on the wrong coast(It's a 50/50 chance...guess which one). Only about 9 or 10 people are even remotely into anime around my school, and we need a teacher to start any new clubs(sadly there are none familiar with anime, except ones like gigantor, astro boy, and transformers...they don't really count). I am plaid with envy...
Queen Asuka
Well, at a University with 33,000+ students, there has to be a good bit of anime fans, right?

They can do whatever they like while we watch it; they don't even have to like anime to begin with. Right now I'm asking any teacher I can. As for there not being a lot of people who like it, I know from experience that there are most likely quite a few people who like it but don't tell anyone about it. Perhaps if a club was to start, you'd be able to meet lots of people who like anime in addition to the people you know of.

A few people I know have huge collections of varied animes that would be good, and I have a few of my own. Finding a teacher and asking the school principal and getting the board's apporval is required though. I have a few teachers in mind, but it might be hard to find a classroom because the whole school is basically demolished with construction. I had been thinking this over last year too. I have most of the actual workings of the club figured out, but the approval is needed and I have absolutely no leadership skills. Funny thing I thought about was 'what if we can't get a T.V. and VCR/DVD player?' In my basement, we have one of each. XD If anyone has any suggestions on how I should go about getting permission, please post. I have no confidence, so I am kinda afraid to ask. ~Lumi ^_^
Soliel
There was an Anime and Manga club at my old school, but unfortunately I had to transfer schools my Jr. year and my school curently has no such club. Worst yet, many of the people I first met didn't even know what anime was (they called it cartoons or 'japanimation') Then I met someone into anime and we came up with a plan: to start our own anime club. At my school you have to have at least 7 people to start a club. Last year this was a bit of a problem, but this year there seem to be a lot of freshmen into anime. Later this week I'm going to talk to the vice principle to see about a teacher moderator. I hope to have our first meeting soon.

For the TV and DVD player, I'm sure there is a TV in your school somewhere on a cart or something, perhaps in the media center, and for DVD player, we just bring in our PS2s, lol. You'll figure out how to connect them up somehow. As for finding a teacher, just go up to one that you think might be able to bear sponsering an anime club, and ask if they would be able to sponser a club that meets once a week. That's what we do, at least, and it would work if the teacher were able to do so. <_<" Getting permission from the principle and board is something that's going to be hard to do, as you may most likely have to explain the education factor, of which you could explain is to learn about different cultures and study foreign art, heh. Whether they buy it or not is something that can't be helped, I'm afraid. As for being a leader, you said that some of your friends have a decent amount of anime, so perhaps they could be president and you could just help to push them through this whole process. Kwai
In our school, the "anime club" is a branch of the asian appreciation club. Therefore, it was incredibly easy to have a teacher supervise us, and to obtain permission from the principal since we were just "appreciating" asian art. Maully
Drag a non-anime friend with you, for a security blanket, who knows, you may make a convert... The Asian Appriciation angle s a great idea... I think that if you have enough t get started, and others see there is interest, you're going to bring animke fans out of the woodwork, since they will se it's ok to be a fan and people aren't going to make fun of them for it. As for the teacher, if you already have 7 people and you can't find a teacher, can you just meet at someone's house (unofficially) once a week and watch stuff? You won't have the new member draw, but you can still have tons of fun.
