Corey
"...how bad is the pain?" Let's see. How should I begin? Well I guess a good spot would be about noon(midwest time) yesterday. My family)father, mother, sister, younger aunt, older aunt, and myself) were heading to a restaraunt for lunch. It was a slightly rainy day so the roads were rather wet. We were about half way there and this guy began cutting into out lane(white 4x4 pickup). HYe was going to hit us so my mother swerved onto the shoulder. When she attempted to get back onto the road we lost control of the minivan. We fishtailed 5-6 times before losing control completely and going across the median (the median was notihng but grass). We hit another car, almost head on. I have a severely bruised right hip and right kidney damage. I also have visual damage (a bruise on my optical cortex). My sister has a fractured ankle and dental damage. My father has a severly bruised chest. My younger aunt has medium bruises all over her body(she was not belted). My mother has two broken legs, a broken ankle, and a broken toe. My elderly aunt has two broken ribs, a deflated lung, and a possible spinal injury. We are all expected to live. We are all expected to recover (with the possibility I might never regain full vision). So as to not make this thread a total waste of space: Has anyone else been in a car accident? Drix D'Zanth
My prayers are with you and your family. I think it's an absolute miriacle to survive a head on crash , especially in a freeway environment. It could have been alot worse. My heart truely goes out to your family, and I am honestly happy that you are still alright. I've been rear-ended before, and the whiplash hurt like hell. I can honestly say that you are one lucky guy ;). My prayers go out to you.
lea
oh wow, i am so sorry about your accident.....i honestly hope you get much much better then the doctors say.... one time, it was raining, and my best friend was driving me to graduation practice. we were crossing a narrow bridge, when this mac truck came out of nowhere. he tried to stop and pull over, so the truck would have enought room to go thru, when he skidded, and we were heading strait towards the truck's wheels.....he skidded and hit the bridge railing. we bounced off of it hard( the railing was cement.) i honestly thought we were going to be crushed.....o.o
Angelus_Necare
I really hope you and your family recover quickly. I was a bit more fortunate in my car accident. My mother, brother and I were heading to the mall one day, we were in the city and my mother took teh wrong lane to turn right. The other car who didn't see us hit my side and completely ruined the right side of the car, miraculously none of us were hurt, especialy me because I was sitting in the passenger seat. The only problem was that I couldn't get out of the damned car. It wasn't scarry or anything, I was just irritated because I definitely didn't want to go anywhere that day, maybe it was like a hidden instinct, has that ever happened to anyone? Harry
I pulled a stomach muscle before. You'd never imagine how many activities require stomach muscles. I'd rate it about an 8-
Guest dayday
I know that had to hurt. >_< I hope you and your family get better soon. I've never been in a car accident. But my aunt has. She had plates put all the way up her left leg. Her daughter just got shooken up, and the other car went over the side into the water. None of them survived. But she's walking now and has a job at my school. >_< Even worse. Anyway, I know that if you just concentrate on happy thoughts you'll be alright. SpikeSpiegel
my prayers are with u an ur family. i personally have been in 5..count'em..accidents. 3 were above 55mph an one was at 75. the others were fender benders at variable speeds. the worst i would have to say was i came off a clover-leaf ramo for a highway an i didnt see the person in the middle of the ramp fully stopped. i had no idea wtf she was thinking in the middle of Knick game traffic but i hit her at around 55mph. thank god i wasnt hurt but my chest were i had the belt on was brusied for a while. the one at 75 was when i spun my RX-7 in the snow an jumped the curb on the highway. it was stupidity that did it but i wasnt hurt( i dont know how) an the car wasnt damaged. thats it. i hope u regain all ur vision an ur family makes a safe recovery. Sara
Wow, I'm glad you're all (mostly) okay. I have to admit the title/first line made me laugh. My mom is an ER nurse, and she gives us kids that line all the time. ^_^ The corner where I used to live had a lot of accidents. Well, relatively. I saw one happen one Sunday morning; it was pretty startling. / Car accidents worry me. Head injuries terrify me. I mean...your body can heal, but your brain really doesn't. *sad smile* Best to you and your family. That's a scary thing.

Epid3mic
Where are you posting from, the hospital? Seriously though, that must...suck, to say the least. I was in a car accident once, but walked away without a scratch.
Baron Samedi
I hate those stupid road hogs. I feel so sorry for you man. Did they get that dickhead who cut you off? I hope so. I have been in one car accident, we went off the road, over a ditch, and missed the only tree in this paddock by about a foot. We were lucky. The ditch was about 3 metres deep, and we were extremely lucky we didn't end up nose-first in the ditch. I bruised my shoulder, and my mum bruised her leg, but we were OK. I also was involved in another one. It was night, and we were at a friends, taking turns to ride out his driveway, u-turn on the road, and come racing back in for a skid. Anyway, trees went almost to the end of this guys driveway, and I pedal out onto the road, but there is a car coming. I hit the front right tre, but I am OK, bike is OK, nobody is hurt, just a graze. If i had left a second earlier, I would have been under the wheel of the car o.0 Freaky. It was my fault, of course, but I was only 9 or something. I was so lucky. Hope that you get better soon, and regain your sight.
Corey
To Sara: I got that question about twenty times while I was there. To Epidemic: i posted from home. I was discharged the day of the scident and then had to go back the next day for an eye exam. I posted after the eye exam. To The Baron: No. No one has been caught and no one has confessed. I just hope that if we do not catch him he is forever tormented by the thought that he may have killed someone. To All: Thankyou for your thoughts. They mean a lot. Circ
I hope the best for you and your familly. I've always been highly shortsighted, but I don't know how difficult cortical eye vision problems can be to live with. What kind of visual dammage is it exactly? I've once been in a car accident. My mother tried to avoid what she though was a metal sheet in the middle of the road (it later showed up to be a piece of carboard >.<) and we end ended up doing a slow (we weren't going very fast, but the road was slippery) 180 degrees and going wheels-up in the ditch. Nobody was hurt, but we had a hard time getting out the car through the windows and the snow.
tattoi nobori
wow... It's amazing that nobody was killed! I've been in a couple of wrecks, but certainly not any that bad... My prayers are with you and your fam! Definitely understand that you'd want to be with them for a while, but do come back, we'll revive that nD thread! ?_? GrimmFang
I wish you and your family a fast recovery. I have been in several car accidents but only one of them was sort of bad. I was eight, my dad and I pulled off an exit ramp and where making a left. This Mack truck filled with gravel came flying off the ramp and didn't even stop and slammed right into our rear. I had my seatbelt on so instead of flying forward I flew up and smashed my head off the roof of the car. It wasn't as bad as it seemed it hurt for a few minutes but no major problems resulted from it.
Raiha
All of a sudden, my life looks really fantastic. My dad's been in multiple car accidents, T-boned, sideswiped, rear ended. Even though none of them were his fault, we still ended up with big bills. I was rear-ended once, in a rental car no less, and since I've started driving, I live in mortal fear that I'll somehow get into another one. As for pain, I've hovered around 8, when I jacked my collarbone, and got my breast surgery. I expect to have more of the latter in my future, but not related to a car. I hope.
Semjaza
My dad in a motorcycle accident. My step-dad crushed his arm in his own motorcycle accident, but they just put a pin in there. That's about it.
