Sorry Charles...I'm not at Rutgers just yet. ~_^

Right now I'm attending our local community college. It's close (the farthest campus is a half hour drive away), it's cheap (less than $900 for my first semester), and if I keep atleast a B average I get accepted into Rutgers as a Junior, with all my credits carrying over. ^_^

Let's see...I'm just a little freshman, so I haven't had the chance to sample the food, and not yet have I gained any weight. I've always heard that the Frosh 15 was more associated with dorm-living freshman...and granted, I don't know how many of you live on sight at your college...but perhaps that's why I've yet to see any gain/loss? Burlington County doesn't have dorms...at any campus. All the students are commuters.

The few teachers that I have met are...ok. Some of them are just...rather...boring. But the majority are nice, fun people. ^_^ Definitely looking forward to the next 2 years.


As for the gap year: I was seriously considering taking off. I almost did, but then my mother informed me I'd be off her insurance (not a full time student anymore, you know?) and would have to find my own. -coughs- Hi ho! Hi ho! It's off to class I go!

I'll probably end up going to a two year so I can save money to go to Pratt institute in New York City for my artists degree, I haven't thought much past college wich I think is not really a good thing.

What I'm planning on doing, is taking 2 years at the local community college. Then transferring to a bigger university, or getting certified in Computer Graphics design.

But yes. Camden...is...how we say, warzone or a mild variation of it. Like Charles, I haven't been witness or subjected to muggings or anything. Our campus is unbelievably safe, even in the heart of Camden. Our police force is very similar to a riot control force. They patrol everywhere, they're always sharp. Very comforting to have them here. If you're leaving the Mac Lab at 4 am (any time of the day, really, but 4 am is when people finish in the Mac Labs), you can call to have them escort you to your car.

The professors simply rock. I'm an English freak, as some of you can tell, and our English Department is one of the best I've ever seen. Our professors are incredibly knowledgeable, to the extent of disturbingly knowledgeable. Some of my profs pull lectures out of thin air, without any notes, referencing archaic and obscure pieces of literature, film, and art. It's amazing.

Charles will agree that Dr. Fitter is one such instructor. The man is awesome. He's a British Marxist--a card-carrying Marxist, no less, but he is always respectful of others' political views. Really cool guy and a definitive volume on Shakespeare.

Class sizes yeah. usually around 30. World Masterpieces have up to 180, as it's a General Requirement course and everyone has to take it.

Rutgers is a really groovy school. I highly recommend it if you're going for an English degree. The English people simply roxxrsors. hehe.

Yeah, from what Jenn's described, her theatre instructor is a ****ing moron. Hmph...core of theatre being actor and audience. Bull****. Without any ideas or reasons for being there, the actors aren't doing anything but standing around, and the audience has no reason to be there to watch nothing going on.

And someone asked "What about script?" The theatre instructor replied, "What about adlibbing?"

WTF! I don't think this instructor realises that NOBODY can adlib without an idea, that is to say, focus, that is to say, creative base, that is to say, SCRIPT to work off of.

Even my most insane 20 minute improvisational (READ: "adlibbed") monologues had thought processes behind them. Jenn's heard me do some of them, and I guaran-freaking-tee that I wasn't pulling that stuff out of my ***. While my mouth may have been going, my brain is still thinking about where I'm going next, what points I want to make, what poetic notions and realisations I want to include.

I really wish some instructors--no, people would THINK before they speak. To say that you only need actors and audience is pure, unadulterated idiotspeak.

Yeah, that's my little rant.

I'd say, if it was strictly Football, pick the one that you like, and that has a good program. because you wont want to play for a crappy program, and a crappy team. You wont have any fun.

Or I could be completely wrong, and you would have the time of your life on a crappy team, making it better. It's up to you. I'd go with a college that a major league team would smile on if they saw it.

Well i guess im pretty late on this topic but i currently go to Rowan University which is in NJ. Its a pretty good college, the parties kick *** here. Academically the school is up to par compared to any other school. Its mainly a teacher/engineer type of school so it suits me well since i want to be a highschool principal. We basically win a lot of D3 championships in sports and besides all of the other things i have listed, the only downside is the food. I hate the food here at Rowan, it sucks. Its always the same crap constantly with no room of improvement being found. Wow they gave us a Columbo yogurt stand what a difference that will make. Ahh oh well Rowan U. is still a great college.

Oh the University of Oregon I am at presently, and I graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology a year ago. UO has a lot more school spirit, everyone in this little town (eugene, OR) is a UO-ducks fan. Its kinda wacky. I don't really feel like a part of the school so much because I am in grad school. Its a whole different experience which is much more like having a job. At least i don't have a nagging boss though.

I'm only in the 8th grade and I'm 13. But I do plan on trying to get into the University of Michigan. I might go somewhere else if I'm smart enough. ^_^;;; I'm in the Midwest Talent Search so I've actually taken the ACT before. I scored as an average 11th grader! YAY! I'm smart! But I don't have a lot of money. So let's just hope I can get a scholarship and become smarter than Super genius Greg and Big *** ego Tom. ^_^

i don't know if this counts, but I'm taking a course in computer science at a place called Juniata College. It's a private liberal arts college I believe, and kinda expensive. Thankfully though, I'm still a senior in High School, so they have an agreement with my school that lets me go there at a reduced price. It's only one course anyway.. I'll take a math there next semester. I may go there com next year, but I'm not sure yet. They have the computer software department that I want to learn for my education (they are ranked pretty high up there considering that they are such a small school; my computer science clas shas around 13 people or so), but they don't have any engineering departments. Where would a person go if they wanted to learn about AI and that whole technical field? (I already considered MIT, but they don't offer enough scholarships. Juniata has alot, enough for me to be able to go there with help of other scholarships. Maybe.) What names would those courses have? And I still need to think about what field I could work in employing those skills.. sorry if this is a long post, but there aren't any people I know who know this kind of stuff.

[color=green]As for scholarships--you can find them through other sources than just the school. Often local clubs give them to graduating seniors, like the Kawanis and Churches and the PTA. Also there are a lot of private business and organizations that offer scholarship contests. You can find a ton of them online.[/color]

Sorry Babygirl, I am a chemist, not a photographer. The photo school there is really cool though. Really the whole art program at RIT is the schools saving grace because the art students are primarily the only interesting people to make friends with. The thing is though that the president of RIT wants to get rid of the art programs and focus on engineering and sciences. He's such a fool!
