i dont know if anyone mentioned this before but since the tech isnt ready for a true virtual reality game we can have a game that has the goggles that let u see from a player in the game's point of view but thats it. U control everything with some type of controller. it may not sound so awesome as a true VR game but its a start
Actually, here's my thoughts on the .hack//SIGN realism factor..

If Tsukasa was caught in the game, everything seemed real to him, right? Sight, smell, touch.. So would that mean that all the people moved realistically as well in Tsukasa's eyes?

If that is the case, then perhaps the entire series is seen through what Tsukasa would have seen if he were watching the stuff going on.

That doesn't explain .hack//Legend of Twilight, though. Why is that one so realistic?

Well then if you had a series with nothing but un-lifelike people in revealing clothing walking around without much other than dialogue ballons and some voice chatting. The series just wouldn't be right without the level of realism.

And that's my two cents.

WARNING: minor spoiler spillage ( i dunno what you consider a spoiler, but just for precaution... )

Refering to the game, and .hack//DUSK, there is no possibility that on a controller of so few buttons, ( the one shown in .hack//DUSK ) would it be literally possible to perform all of the functions in .hack//DUSK. The goggle-things they use to log in and view the world in are called Neuro-goggles ( reference .hack//OUTBREAK, world news section thing ) while those are not beyond our time, it wouldnt be cheap to buy them. Im sensing some peoples reaction to fiction is a bit...hyper, yet understandable. Though, it would be pitiful to see such a splendid MMORPG idea fall to the virtual reality simulator i looked at while in an arcade in Guam, which i highly doubt will happen.* cringe * The Realism is most likely described in what appears to be an animated style of roleplay. like, in certain MMORPGS, you type in a certain word, and an emoticon pops out above your head.

I hope I helped clear some thoughts about the Show/game. mostly based on my opinion though

ya it would be nice 4 it to be really realistic but u gotta think practicle... probably the best thing to do would be to go with the ps2 controler and stick with just gogles that would be fine... at least 4 me... i mean it would be a sacrafice but just think that it would be able to be made without that much new inventions and technology... right?
sure it wouldnt be as nice but it would be a game and they can a;ways make upgrades after the games is already up and runing... as 4 hackers... wel u would have hacker with just about ne online game that comes out... their just a frustrating thing u jus kinda gotta deal with

The Ace is here reprentin St. Andrews School Hurricanes. I remember this post from the summer. The world is not far from being a reality. It may not be as advanced as I would like to be when it comes out but it will be a start. They will most likely have the game as just a Vr headst that lets u see the action going on and it will let u control it with a joystick or game pad of some sort. It will probably use emoticon hot keys for the face and will use a headset to talk like Xbox live. It will be an online enviroment that will be never ending with places made by the mother company and other environments that can be added by ither companies or some that u make urself that are compatible and meet certain criteria. The sounds should be realistic but it might be inconsistent at the start. The visuals should be consistent because they should be made with only one program that is open source. As the progresses and better technology is released i figure that they will make some technology that taps into the brainwaves that interlinks the two and lets u control the game mentally and lets the game feel more realistic. I am saying this hypothetically and i havent read any of the posts written so sorry if this is something repeated
