I own the first three DVD's of FF-U. I should have rented them first before buying :o. It's basicly just the same thing. Lisa-Ai-Yu, get in trouble and kaze always recuses them! But I like his summons, they are awesome. it's way to predictable.
It seems like the same plot each separate episode but the overall plotline does progress towards the ending. The thing I like about the series is the fact that they throw in episodes where Kaze does not save them. On volume 4 there is an episode where it comes down to Lisa to save them all including Cid and the Commodeen.

I agree the plot progresses slowly but some episodes are just boring. kaze is my faveorite character because he is mysterious and cool. I love when he summons Ifrit muahahahah I like fire

I have had thoughts of buying phase 1 of Fianl Fantasy: Unlimited, but with all the bad ratings I've seen about it, I'm starting to change my mind. Now just to let you all know, I am a serious Final Fantasy fan. So, any of you out there who have even caught a glimpse at these anime, please tell me, is it worth it?

personally, I liked it. I have a friend who's really into Final Fantasy and he loved it (and got me into it). However, I have another friend who likes the FF series just as much and he hated it. I guess it sort of depends what you like in anime. What makes most people dislike it seems to be the two children as main characters, Ai and Yuu.

It's not so much that the main characters are children but more so the way they are acted and played out. I for a fact found some of the jokes repetitive i.e. Chobi pulling Ai by the hair. The first couple of times were funny but then it got old. I still love the series though.

I have actually seen the entire series, and I have to say that the people on the first
page that said the series was poorly created either have mis-givings about this title
just because the children are the main characters, and because they are making snap judgments based on only a few episodes.

I admit that at first it didn't seem like much, but it definitely has a Final Fantasy feel to it. In fact many themes present in the series are those from the final fantasy games. In fact if you really look at hard enough, you can actually see the perspective of every single character.

For those who commented on it being repetitive, obviously didn't continue the series that far because the repetitiveness is actually broken after the appearance of Pist.

Just like other final fantasies it attempts something new and different, as well as incorporating music made by Nobuo Uematsu (The Legendary Final Fantasy Music Composer).

As far as character development goes, it is actually there, just very subtle. I will say nothing else so that I won't spoil anything for those who haven't seen it.

For those of you who are wondering, yes that is Kaze's heart inside of the Magun, which is why no other being can fire it. Even though the cg scene with the Magun seems repetitive, it is actually necessary because the magun is powered by the spirit energy in the soil, so it requires a huge amount of spirit energy just to power it up, thus the windmill effect.

Also the Magun summons actually take alot of energy, besides using the necessary
soil bullets to create the beast summon, the soil must also mix with Kaze's blood in his heart before the summon can be created.

Personally I'm glad that I saw this anime before reading any commentary on it, because in my opinion it is actually quite good.

However it is not for the faint of heart, or those people who are looking for an aristeia. Just because it has kids as the main character doesn't mean it's not sophisticated enough to be final fantasy.

As for those people who think the summons look stupid, well if you think about it, the summons from all of the final fantasy games don't exaclty mirror each other anyway.

To sum it all up, Final Fantasy: Unlimited is a good series, but I recommend you watch it before judging it, I sincerely believe that those people who really ranted about it be bad obviously have a different taste in anime from other people, and I would be interested to know what they think good anime constitutes.

I suggest that they do not watch Boogiepop Phantom, Evangelion Neon Genesis or even Soul Hunter because those series are way to strong for them.

wow dreamer, I actually bought the first 4 episodes on DVD and I made some quick judgement calls just like these other people...I didn't check but, is there a subs option? Cuz the dub really didn't do anything for me. And it did seem a little repetitive.

NONE THE LESS, I'm gonna give it another shot. You know where I could get my hands on some FF:U bittorents? :D
