Do you have any famous people in your family? If so who?

My family claims that we are related to everyone from Madonna to Martha Stewart. Most have yet to be proven and are porbably not true. My grandmother just sits there watching TV saying that we are related to everybody who pops up on the screen. I guess in a way we are all connected but I mean some of the bonds are stronger while other have faded; as each generation passes a little is lost but a little more is gained. Well back to the topic the only truely famous person we are realted to is Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Elaine from Seinfeld) by marrige. My family has great potlitcal roots in US History we are related to the former President and Genral Ulysses S. Grant(I would rather it had been Bill Clinton but hey he is still cool). Not to meantion the countless number of senators, majors, governers, congressmen, and cabenit holders; I currenlty have a cousin who is a congressman and two uncles who are Senator. I am the also the President of my class.

I guess I have some local Chicago "famous" relatives.

I don't know much about my ancestry. My Great Grandpa Quigley was in charge of the Department of Sanitation here in Chicago, which doesn't sound like anything amazing... but whatever else he did in his lifespan apparently made him a big deal around here. I really don't know that much about him.

My Grandpa Roti was Sheriff Deputy of Chicago. He was also part of the mob in some fashion. I don't know to what degree as no one ever really talks about it, but he was on the higher half of it all, at the least.

My Uncle Fred Roti got in trouble over some stuff involving all that and got sent to prison. I remember it being on the news and them showing him walking in the courtroom. I think that's the most I can remember ever even seeing of him. I believe he passed away since then.

No one like a movie star.

Well, I'm sure quite a few people could trace themselves back to Brigham Young.:D

Anyways, I've always been told that I'm related to Leaf Erickson (he's a famous viking), but that's going quite a while back. Oh yeah, I just remembered, Mandy Moore is my wife so I guess we're realated.

I have not the faintest clue for my biological blood.

Just by name, my grandmothers great-great uncle was, apparently, Charles Sigsbee. He was the Captain of the second-class battleship Maine when she exploded in Havana harbor in February of 1898, one of the catalysts for the Spanish American War.

Aside from that I do not think there are any celebrities or famous figures- but since I do not know my biological line that well, you never know. =)

Hmm, let's see...

I know that Gregory Hines, rest his soul, was my 4th generation cousin. My 4th generation cousin in law is Gladys Knight.

My 1st generation cousin is Raven Symone...and on my dad's side of the family, my 1st generation cousin is Lil Jon from Lil Jon and the Eastside boys...that's all I know.

Im directly related to sir arthur connan doyle (sp? :D how embarressing)

He created sherlock holmes as well as the story of "the lost world."

Im willing to bet that each one of us could dig real deep and eventually find someone in each of our families who has made a mark on the world.

In terms of famous people, I'm the... third cousin once removed of Oxide from Oxide and Neutrino, who did the theme from the first Tomb Raider film.

As for intereting historical figures, I'm related to the first bishop of Australia by marriage (not to myself, obviously. i think his surname was Broughton), and my great grandfather imported the very second car into Australia, too. At some point, one of my great grandfathers shook hands with Kaiser Wilhelm too, as he was nearly in a car crash with him.

So there we are ^_^

My uncle (from my mother's side) went to college and hung in relatively the same circle as Steven King. They had some great discussions about English and nature and the like...and we're all pretty sure if you asked him now, Mr. King would go "Oh, Granville? My god, I haven't thought about him since college!" ^_^;

And, again from my mother's side, we might be related to the Olgilvie chain of hair products from Canada. A split in the family when it first came over to America, they went north and we stayed in Maine...you know the whole deal. If they ever do find that missing link, I might be a millionaire someday. ^_^ -dreams-

other than being related to Brigham Young (me and Deedlit are sisters), another somewhat famous person would be an aunt of mine, who was a ballerina. she played Clara in the international cast of The Nutcracker when she was thirteen. but that was a while ago, so not too many people would know her, unless you're just really into ballet or something :cross:.

Wow, you guys are lucky. Specially you, Avalon. I'm not related to any famous people, but my grandparents own a large hotel in Rethmemno Crete in Greece and my uncle owns "Pizza Time" in Bennetsville, South Carolina. It emblem is a pizza with clock hands. I'm sure none of you have heard of it, so well....crap... My family line is Greek, so they probably gp back to Greek warriors. I think my grandpa showed me a family tree of some sort and it showed a Greek Warrior in the old days, so, hey, Heroics!
