Doukeshi
Okay, there have been several remakes of this classic song, most noteably by HIM and Apollo 440. I, however, have to maintain that the original by Blue Oyster Cult will always remain the best. What do you guys think. Which one is the best and do any of the others have merit? Angelus_Necare
when I saw the title of the topic I imediately thought "oh the song with the cow bell" lol, I guess that's what I remember most about it. I also like their other song "godzilla"
Mitch
I haven't heard any other vesion than the Blue Oyster Cult versions, heh. I even bought the album that originally had the song on it, I loved it so much! So yeah...I'm supposing the BOC version is better no matter what heh. I also even enjoy most all of the other tracks on the CD that I bought. They're a decent band.

future girl
I too haven't heard any other version but the one by Blue Oyster Cult. I love the song, the lyrics are posted in my otaku. The song is comforting to me in a weird way, that kinda worries me too, because the song does promote suicide, but I still love the song. *listens to it now*
The Harlequin
In my opinion, the BOC version has the best solo in it (hell, one of the best solos ever, we've all got to admit), but over all, the Mutton Birds version is probably better. I've heard a Goo Goo Dolls version, but it was recorded live, and they tried to thrash it....Failed pretty miserably. But anyway, yeah, I prefer the Mutton Birds version, but it's really hard to find, given that Mutton Birds are a small New Zealand band, and no one has ever heard of them.... I'm also told that there is a Tea Party version, but I haven't found any evidence for that.
Doukeshi
I don't think I've ever heard the Mutton Birds version, though as you say it is very difficult to get hold of. I love the original song, primarily due to it's brilliant riffs and solos and the harmonising of the lyrics. Because of it's promotion of suicide people actually did try to get it banned because it was blamed for teenage self-inflicted injuries and suicides. Jesus Chicken
If anyone here remembers the movie The Frighteners with Michel J Fox in it, the remake by the Mutton Birds is on the soundtrack, I do believe. I could be wrong but I don't care. Yeah, I'm with the Harlequin on this, I prefer the cover by the Mutton Birds.
