Ok, this question probably hasn't been asked in sometime on this board, I'm pretty sure for that matter.
So I just want to ask it.

Does anybody here listen to country? Not the type you?re always hearing about though. I mean if you go far enough into it, you can find some pretty good songs. I don't like the stereotypical type of country that I'm sure most of you probably would think of as soon as you click upon such a thread. Examples though would be songs about drinking and love. Most of the time that is considered stereotypical country music.

But there are some truly poetic songs out there and ones that flow beautifully. If you can find them anyways, which is possible, just have to like the music enough. Of course nothing like hard rock does because that obviously is a completely different genre. So as far as asking the question I would also like to ask. If you do like country, what person/bands do you have a particular liking towards?

As for myself I have some interesting tastes I guess you could say, only because a lot of it might sound like the regular old country that you hear about everyday. That's of course if you listen to country, then you would know what I'm talking about. But here is a list of the bands.

Gary Allen
Pat Green (formally American music until just lately)
Joe Nichols
Travis Tritt
Lonestar
Tracy Byrd
Tim McGraw (His older albums "A Place In The Sun" especially)
Glen Phillips (I don't know where to place this guy, but he is partial country in my opinion. Still he doesn't quite work in a country format. But his music I really, really like)

As you can see though, I don?t like the Woman of country, there is only one that I like and I really like her, but unfortunately I can't remember her name.

Oh and don't get me wrong either. I listen to Rock and Alternative all the time. My absolute favorite bands are Our Lady Peace and Nine Inch Nails. It's just the mood that I have to be in, in order to listen to the music.

the only country music I can stand to listen to is stuff that Shania Twain and Nickel Creek put out. Nickel Creek doesn't really sound that country to begin with though. reminds me more of folk music.

most country just rubs me the wrong way for some reason. maybe it's the 'twang'.

I actually used to like a bit of country music.. I would listen to the Top 50 Country Countdown on 2DU every sunday night when I went to bed, there was some good music.

I couldn't listen to country all day though, or as my choice of music. There's a few good songs here and there, and I don't mind hearing them out.

Tim McGraw is one name that rings a bell.

Some country music is okay. Mostly I cannot stand it...it's all mostly about the same thing as far as I'm concerned: either religion, love, or something else that ties into the two. And it's always like this.

That "Do You Remember" song really pisses me off too. What the hell is that? This guy suddenly assumes all Americans feel that they have forgotten 9/11, and other such crap. That song's lyrics just annoying me for whatever reason.

All Country mostly sounds the same to me. That's mainly why I can't stand listening to it...plus I abosolutely hate the lyrics to most all the songs. As I said, it's all about love this, and this and that. It's just annoying. Country signers just take the liberty to write such useless, garbage lyrics in my opinion. Plus the music doesn't have its own sound in my opinion...it just all sounds nearly the same to me; there are exceptions, but really, Country music is my most hated music genre I'd say.

I have a high tolerance for country. I'll say that much. Well, maybe I'll say a little more.

I don't listen to a lot of country. I don't even know what the local country music station is. However, I can respect country music and there are a few songs out there taht I like. I remember really being into LeAnn Rimes a few years back. I listened to a few Dixie Chicks songs before all of the political hype. I heard maybe one Tim McGraw song, but I saw his Driven on VH1. There's also that little boy. I think his name is Billy Gilman or something. He's very talented for someone barely in his teens.

Well, as of right now I haven't listened to really any country in months, except the few times that my mom turns on the radio. I think the real reason why I was ever into Country was because of my mom listening to it like everyday when I was young. But the same with rock music though, my dad use to listen to that everyday as well. So it was just being exposed to the certain types of music all my life that I grew to like them. Anyways, I really just like some of the older country then the newer type. It was more of a phase for me though.

I'm not a fan of country on a whole... It really seems to me that the country that is popular now is only popular because it sounds more like pop rock than actual country.

However, I do suggest people check out Will Oldham. He's a lot darker in subject than most country music lately. He has a really far reaching influence too. He did a song with Chris Vrenna for tweaker and I remember reading how Shirley Manson of Garbage looked up to him.

Country music is not my cup of tea. I used to half way like Garth Brooks a little. I also like thats song from the Armagendon soundtrack. I'm more of a short fast chorus type and country tends to grag it out to long for me.
