I was wondering how many of you have jobs. And if you do, what is your job. And if you don't, what kind of job do you want? Anyway, I used to have a paper route. But I quit about after two months, for one I hated it and I was always gone and unable to do it anyway. I remember how there was always this one bump I was never able to avoid on my bike. Well, with the weight of my and the papers... I always got flipped off. The first time(when I didn't know about it) I hit the dip and then came the bump... BAM! I was flipped off my bike and it landed on me, while my papers scatered everywhere. I spent five minutes finding my papers. That always sucked.
But I've always had a few jobs in mind of what I've wanted. Maybe in the science range for one or perhaps a writing/drawing job. Those have always been my thoughts of interest.
So anyone else want to share? If you have a little story(like mine to share) please tell.

Actully I think I have kind of a neat job. I work at my local zoo. No, I don't do anything gross like clean cages (I got promoted from that a year ago). I actually help supervise one of the after-school programs. I just watch a bunch of 5th graders and tell them about animals and stuff. Plus I want to be a veternarian and this job will look great on my vet school application.

I'm not sure if this was a job, but in 10th grade for community service I worked at a dance school for about a year. I was assistant to the dance teacher who taught the 3-5 year olds on Saturday mornings. I had to get up earlier than for school, but it was weirdly fun, and I actually want to see if I can do it again this year. No, I didn't get paid. But it was just so fun, and the little kids were so cute!

I do odd, run of the mill, early teenager jobs. Mowing lawns, helping out people around the neighborhood- even babysitting sometimes.

For my first 'official' job I think I would enjoy working at Electronics Boutique or Best Buy. I enjoy being surronded by electronics and software, mainly because I spend so much time learning about it. I cannot imagine myself flipping burgers or anything like that.

In the long run, I am going to aim to be a history professor. I think my personality as a collage professor would be choice, heh. I hope that works out for me.

I'm part of a pilot program of Web Support being offered by the ITS department at my college; three other kids and I teach basic HTML and web design. I'm currently at my job. Holding "office hours," which means I sit at a computer cluster in case people show up asking for help, which they never have, so far at least. We also teach classes occasionally.

For a job during school, I'd have to say this is pretty much my ideal. I get to sit at a computer cluster and do whatever I want (which at the moment really should be involving homework) unless someone shows up, and I get to teach classes on what's possibly my favorite hobby. :p I'm pretty lucky, at least in my opinion ... I'm sure there are some people out there who'd think my job is one of the worst, hehe.

well I have a paper route and im making quite a big off of it, becuse I took it from my older brother since he had to go to highschool so he would be too busy so I had to take it from him and he had a lot of customers and there nice so I get lots of tips and then I get paid like 9 bucks from a few customers then the messenger (the paper place I work for) pays me like a dollar a week so I make quite a bit.

as for a job I want when im older im not really sure. I kinda wanna be a game disigner(sp?) but I probley wont turn out to be one lol. I think that I might be a vet becuse I really like pets but im still young so who knows what im gonna be.

I am officially a "Dance Instructor's Assistant." In short, a supervisor's b*tch. It's quite nice actually. I run errands, run the disks for the moronic little bastards, AND get paid for it. Not to mention leaping around with the kiddos and looking like a complete fool in the process. It's nice having an extra 150 bucks a month, and also having everything that goes with it.

That would be my current job, although I also serve parttime as a nursery worker, a techie, and a dancer for my church. Although the latter three do not yield money of any sort. But they do give me free food and drinks. When life gives you lemons..........

As for a dream job, I think it would involve being a spotlight or sound person for concerts. I like to do stuff like that, working under pressure, dealing with people while knowing that you control their stage destinies..... But being a dance instructor is also in my future. 12 bucks an hour here I come!

.... o_0 nursery worker? I can see it now... Raiha in front of a group of 5 year olds. She's got a little pointing stick and there's a nice full picture porno-shot.
"Ok, kids, time to learn about sex!"-Raiha, "Today we are going to discuss ... anal"
"WHAT ARE YOU SHOWING THEM?!"-supervisor
Raiha..."What? They're almost 6 , what's the big DEAL??"

...... The little bastards ;)

Did you know you have to be 18 to work at Best Buy? It kinda sucks... I tried to get a job there a while ago before I turned 18 and they turned me away.

Before I went off to college, I worked at the Westmoreland Country Club. I shined shoes for rich old men in the locker room. :) If any of you are from Pennsylvania, you are probably familiar with Attorney Edgar Snyder.."You don't pay unless we get money for you!" yeah THAT guy.... yep I cleaned that bastard's shoes. By the way, he isn't very nice. The job was extremely easy, but got soo boring on slow days. I got pretty good pay there, but a very very bad side of the job was that there were naked old guys walking around everywhere.

Oh, and don't think that I was kneeling on the floor cleaning shoes while the guys were wearing them. We collect the shoes, clean them, and return them to the lockers. It's not as bad as you'd think. I work there with my older brother, Randall, and two other guys I knew from High School, Art and Tom Rodgers. Joe (the boss) already wants me to work again when I'm done with college this school year.

Wow...jobs. Just that word gives me goosebumps. I can't wait until the day I receive my first paycheck...
I'm still 14 and too young to get a job, but me and a few friends will probably get our jobs this summer working at the YMCA camps or at Target...^^;; (hey, if it pays, take it!)
I am hoping to save up my work money to buy myself a car (Beatle!) but as it is it's probably going to be spent on crap I don't need.
I mean, c'mon, I'm a 14 year old teenage girl. Just think of how I can blow off my money. I got a group of friends and a mall ahead of me and a few hundred from my paycheck. Not good.
But anyway, let's just hope I don't get fired...I'm not planning on it. I mean geez, I'm already worrying about having a job next summer when this summer just ended...*sweat*

Although now I'm substituting in Snoppy and Charlie Brown stuff. Which, in my "Professional" opinion, is much much better.

I work at a store called Rome General Lumber. I work as a cashier, salesman (or woman), stock girl, and I clean too.

I didn't really want the job but it pays well and it was the only one I could get, I wanted to work at the local video store but you have to be 18 to be able to stock videos in the "back room"

The vidoe store would have been nice because my friend works in a convinience store up the street, we could have reinacted Clerks, oh well...

I work as a ride operator on the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh at Disneyland. I started working in June after having a conversation with DeathKnight (Ken.) Disneyland is my real job, and even though I have to drive an hour and a half to work I couldn't be happier. It's a great experience to work at the happiest place at worth; every day something new and interesting happens. Most of the time it involves the guests saying or doing something funny, which happens quite often. My pay isn't great, but the benfits more than make up for it.

I tried to get a job this summer. I applied to about ten places and none of them called me back. I guess they just didn't want me. Maybe it's because I refuse to work on Sunday?

Now that I'm in college, it's very important for me to get a job to pay for rent and groceries and things of the sort, but I find myself more stressed for time than ever. Between schoolwork and studying, I'm scared to get a job.

In the long run, the career I'm shooting for is Genetic Counseling. Of course, I'll have to go to graduate school, but I'll just wait and see how this all fleshes out within the next four years.

I am currently a library aide for the tri-county area. It's actually a pretty nice gig, though the boss can be a bit grating at times. Apart from shelving books and shelf-reading, I get to help out with the programs the Children's Librarian does for the elementary kids, and when our regular security guard isn't in, I get to control the Internet computers. It can be trying at times, with the run of the kids that come through, but I really love it because I love to read, and I get first dibs on all the new books that come in. Not to mention DVDs. lol

I am currently an assistant manager for a vidoe store mega-chain. It's ok, I rent for free!!!!! but customers are jerks with bad taste in movies, "Hey, man, let's watch 'Old School' again, how many times have I rented that one??" Then they alway think they know more about the store that I've worked in for three years than I do. It's ok, but definitely not my dream job. My dream job would be theatre performance, on stage, lights, lines, the whole nine. If that doesn't work out I'd like to be a talent scout for a record label...

Well Tori, eventually you shall learn that you can't just fill out some applications in some desperate throw and hope to, in most cases, be hired.

You have to become an annoyance at wherever you want to work; you have to incessantly bother the manager at wherever over and over again until they finally give you an interview, or hire you.

I've learned this after filling out applications, doing nothing, and not getting anything.

The only place the ever called me back was KFC, and it's obvious that I was fired from that job. I even wrote a really long column that, eventually, is going to all go into my school newspaper. If you want to read that you can go here.

I don't have a job currently...I have tried a tad. But I just don't have the desire. I hate working but love it at the same time. You probably don't understand if you've never worked, but for anyone that has worked or does, they will.

I love it because you get paid. I love it because you get to meet coworkers. I love it because some of the work is fun.

And yet I hate it for all those reasons above and more.

I did get a job interview from BK...but I really didn't want to work there. They said they would call me back a day after the interview. Never called. I would've stalked them, but I just didn't want the job really anyways.

Otherwise I am just being lazy, and blaming school's grip on my life on not having a job.
