The School Sketches

I'm sure a lot of people doodle in their notebooks and such in class. I'm starting this thread for anyone and everyone with that kind of art, no matter how much talent you have, since everyone has some. And though this wasn't technically done in school, I did all the little details in various notebooks. Enjoy and post often!
PS: Oh yeah, this is Kya from PS2's Kya: Dark Lineage. There was an ad in my most recent magazine, so I attempted something. Remember the key word 'attempt'. There were a few other things on the page with it but this was one of the few I inked. The rest were in pencil.
Edit: I'll have to wait for someone else to post since something happened an my doodle wasn't attached.

I drew this little guy during a course called Comparative Literature. I hate this class and regret ever taking it. We read the most boring passages from the Enlightenment and Romanticism. Instead of paying attention and taking notes, I doodle in the space in my notebook where the notes are supposed to be going.

I did this a week or two ago. It's not that great, but eh:

I drew this during the...uh...let's see...second day of school. Yeah, that's it. The way I draw chibis is by making their head's u's, that's it. Simple. And then, I don't put in any bodies, so my friends that have ponytails don't have them. Hehe. ^^

99% of my drawings are done in class. But, for something on notebook paper, I'll give you a comic strip I drew of my friends and I in our AP classes. I started penning it and didn't finish, and it's really messy, but we seriously act like this in class. I'm the one with long hair that's down and no glasses.

Heheh. Megumi, that's so funny. It sounds like something my friends and I would do.

Hm. I was going to post one of my sketches, but it seems that I've left my notebook at school. At least, I don't know where it is. Very odd, hm. Oh well, it'll turn up.

BWEE! I love doodling, and school sketches make up 99.9% of my artwork, anyway. ^_^ Great topic...for me. lol.

^ That is my orginal character [Asuka], and she is...standing with crooked sunglasses that will never be straightened due to the artist's laziness. :toothy: I drew this during Geometry while by Yankee-obsessed math teacher was talking about his son and how he got to meet Bill Gates. [how cool, huh?]

This is my original chacater as well, the same series the my OC girl is in. [Synonymy] That was him in his past life, with ONE EYE! ....I'm just kidding. I have a habit of drawing one eye and then leaving the other blank. Then I try to cover up the blank space with hair, with results with one neat side and horribly overgrown, wild hair on the other. So I just left it this time, and it looks mighty strange. ....Oh, God, all those Brer Rabbit stories we're reading in LA are killing me.

I started this one yesterday in Spanish and finished it today in Math (I wasn't working on it all the time, just in my free time ^^)

It's like in those warrior stories and stuff like that, she's suppossed to look...tribal, I suppose. That's what the markings on her face are four.

These are all good. Too bad I don't have a scanner anymore, but I do about 85% of all my drawing in class. I draw Sephiroth and I usually make up characters. It's so fun. But then I have no paper left for class work. heheh.

Wooh! Yu Yu Hakusho (re-starts *sigh*) in nine minutes! Woo-hoo!
On the real note, I drew this up a few weeks ago. The image quality is pretty bad, but the picture isn't. It's my character from the Outcast Rebellion (Adventure Arena), Moriko the Fox Demon.
Okay, see ya!

Uhm, my scanner is broken right now.. Which sucks. Would anyone like to contribute to the "Save The Poor Hali" fund? ... No? Ok, then.

Here's a drawing I did last year in class..

Well, having retrieved my notebook from backstage (where it spent the weekend, heh), I now have pictures, yay.

And it's on graph paper, heh.

This is one of my "digimon." (Yes. Digimon.) Or, well...Hm. It's a character that was inspired by digimon, and that I'm currently using as a digimon in an RPG, but I don't actually consider her a digimon. Does that make any sense at all? (I feel like the only person who would understand this is Ginny.)

Anyway, her name is either Amica or Sorka. Oh, and the little bear right above her is Arca.

Oddly enough, I understand completely... Anyways, that's really good! ^_^ I love how it looks detailed while still being a sketch. It is still a sketch, right? And the chains... Did I mention my slight obsession with chains and dog-like collars?
In other, much less exciting news, I'm working on a sketch of Unferth from John Gardner's Grendel. I've been working on it in English class while I was supposed to be doing the assignment that's due tomorrow... Oh, well... I'll have it up when it's halfway done. Right now, it's just a head with hair and shoulders...

The more you obsessively draw, the more you learn of the technique of sketching rather quickly and being very detailed at the same time. ^_~ You know, one reason many peoples' sketches turn out "fuzzy" looking with uneven lines is because they draw so slowly. Just let your hand do its stuff, and don't be paranoid about getting it perfect. From my experience, if you keep on drawing quickly but slow enough to make the picture look decent, you learn how to draw quickly and get a good piece of artwork in the end.

Well, I drew this last year in Graphic Design...It's no big wow or anything, it tooks me approximately 2 minutes to do, but I always liked it for some reason...

Also Sara, your sketches are very nice and although I don't think you drew them on the graphing paper intentionally, I like the way they look on there. O, and Maladjusted, that thing with leaving out one eye and then covering it up with a lot of hair, I do that too, heh.

Today, we took that wonderfully idiotic test, especially if you're a junior or senior, the Terra Novas (or CATs). Why should I have to take a test for placement next year if I'm only taking two requires classes and three electives? According to my PreCalc teacher, who was also my protoctor (teacher who sits there and makes sure all's quiet and no one 'cheats'), it's so we have more tests and such in our transcripts... Right, nd I'm a flying monkey... Anyway, I used my time wisely (sort of) and did three little sketchies. Enjoy.

Sara, your creatures are so adorable. The little bear, is just so huggle-inviting Oo;;. I absolutely love wings and you draw wings soo angel-like! I'm obsessed with wings and yours are mighty fine ~_^;

Obsessed: bedeviled, beset, bewitched, bugged, captivated, consumed, controlled, dogged, dominated, engrossed, fiendish, fixated, gone, gripped, harassed, haunted, heavily into, held, hooked, immersed in, infatuated, into, overpowered, plagued, possessed, preoccupied, prepossessed, really into, seized, taken over, tied up, tormented, troubled, turned on

Definately "turned on" ~_^. Sara you must draw more cute little things with wings(heh that rhymed)

[/reallyreallyreallystrange post ended]

I must say that everyones school drawings are magnificent! ^^ They truly are work's of art (literally..) But the only thing I wonder is,"Is this our future?" Lol ~_^

I must post mine sometime, If I ever get the chance to draw without my evil teachers watching my every move..¬¬

*nods head* Yes, KittyLynn, what you see today on the OB's thread "The School Sketches" will be the next hits of anime in twenty-some years. :D
Me and my friend (EowynElf) are working on a manga to submit to Tokyopop when (and if) they have the fourth "Rising Stars of Manga" competition. The kid's name is Akurei....or something like that. I left my Japanese-English English-Japanese dictionary at school, but either way it translates to demon.
The thing on her chin is a line of blood...yeah. I'll let you imagine.

Those two were drawn fairly quickly. ^_~

And the grand finale. Sort of.

^ Is version 4 of a colored picture I scanned in. Here's the colored version:

XD I made the original version [colored and all] in science class. Our teacher was sick, and the only reason she came to school that day was to prep her Honors Algebra class for the test. So...she didn't care about us basically and told us we could have a free period. The other versions of the sketches are at: http://synonymyproject.blogspot.com

That's all folks.
