Semjaza
I admit this game sounds ridiculous in concept, but I'm giving it a chance. I love music games. This is a joint venture between Namco and Nintendo. Namco released a similiar drumming game on the PS2 months back, and it didn't extremely well in Japan. So this isn't exactly a bad idea. There doesn't seem to be any real information on how it will work, but there is a bongo controller that has some sort of sensor in it to pick up how often and how hard you strike the drums. There's also a mic built in to pick up clapping. The game isn't looking bad graphically. It uses the DKC style characters, although some of the screens are more similiar to older Donkey Kong games. Hopefully it will have decent music, as I assume that's the selling point. I hope there isn't another version of the Donkey Kong Rap... I'm assuming one controller will be packed in, but I'd think having 4 players would be rather expensive. I remember getting maracas for Samba de Amigo on DC wasn't exactly cheap or easy... Shinmaru
Yeah, the biggest issue with this game will most likely be the price. I remember when Samba de Amigo came out...cripes, that thing was expensive. The game is looking decent so far and I'd be willing to give it a shot if it were placed at a decent price. I'm not really a music game aficianado, but I'd play this. Well, as long as there wasn't a DK Rap...God, that song is awful...
Dan Rugh
Hahaha! I read somewhere that the DK Rap is indeed included in the track listing along with many other kinds of music. The tracks will definitely be changed in the two versions because I doubt a game with all Japanese music would sell well in America. I'm assuming that Nintendo will try to get some big names (ugh! crap like P¡nk and Blink 182, I'm sure) in the American version along with old-school Nintendo themes. Semjaza
Was looking around IGN... "Also included in the magazine is a partial song list of what's to be included in the Japanese version of the game. Of merit are game tracks which include the Super Mario Brothers theme, Donkey Rap and the Donkey Konga theme. The latter is the theme song being prepared for the game. Other songs are pulled form a variety of non-game sources, including Japanese pop music, anime and classical tunes. You can expect the chosen music to differ in the final American version of the game." Hmm. The Rap :(
Desbreko
Come on, am I the only one here who likes the DK Rap? Put your hands together If you want to clap As we take you through This monkey rap "There's also a mic built in to pick up clapping." Yeah, I can guess what song that's gonna be used for. :p Personally, though, music games have never seemed that interesting to me, so I probably won't end up playing this much, if at all. Though I may have to try it out just for the DK Rap. I mean, really, how can you not like a rap about monkies? It's the only good rap song I've ever heard. :toothy:
Semjaza
The DK Rap wasn't totally terrible in SSBM... but I totally dreaded it in DK64. My god, that was one of teh worst things I ever heard.
