I have to say Simpsons beats Family Guy. Bart always makes me laugh especially on one of the Treehouse of Hours episodes when they made fun of Harry Potter it was real funy, but I think its a tie between Simpsons and Futurama Fry makes me laugh always trying to get Leela but always getting turned down and he tries so hard.

I never liked Futurama... If i watched more of it, I probably would get into it more. I do like the newer episodes of the Simpsons. They made the show funnier.. But family guy they make mature. And mature parts make me laugh lol.
Especially Quagmire. He makes the best jokes and noises. he says stuff like.... "How Old Are You?!" "16..." "18?! Heh Heh Alriiiite!" and he does the GIGGIDY GIGGIDY GIGGIDY GIGGIDY thing.. lol i dunno that show will always be #1

Family Guy is hardly a rip-off of The Simpsons. I don't know where you're all getting that impression. The only characters between both shows who are similar are Homer and Peter. Lois actually finds half of Peter's antics funny, while Marge does nothing but nag Homer. Lisa comes off as an unpopular super-genius, while Meg is just unpopular without being all that smart. Bart is a rebel who gets low grades because he simply refuses to study, while Chris is just an idiot. Maggie and Stewie are nothing alike. Brian is more human than Snowball & Santa's Little Helper will ever be (also more drunk). Homer doesn't have any perverted friends like Quagmire. Lois has a job (teaching piano lessons) and Marge doesn't.

Just because both shows are about disfunctional families with idiotic dads, that doesn't mean one is a rip-off of the other. That's like saying That 70s Show is a rip-off of Happy Days. The basics of the show are similar, but they're pretty different when you actually pay attention.
Awesome synopsis of the story man I mean just seeing that made me laugh although I know you were being as serious. And I must agree.

Yeah the Simpsons and Family Guy can be family directed. They both have some adult themes, but Family Guy a bit more tha the Simpsons.

But they are both still good. I absolutely love them both and I can really choose. Giving that I forget to look at the simpsons, I catch the Family Guy do to it being on after I get off work...HEHE

Polls close themselves unless otherwise specified. I think yours was only set up to last 7 days.

In any case, I'm glad there is a fanbase for this now. Back when it was on Fox, they switched the days and times so much. I'm convinced that's why it got cancelled. As soon as I got used to it being on one day, they changed it to another. How is this beneficial for anyone? They do this constantly.

But I guess the DVDs are doing so well and Family Guy and Futurama apparently has better ratings within key demographics than late night talk shows like Leno that air at the same time.

I'm very happy they're going to be making new episodes.

I love the Family Guy and Futurama and I am glad they are having renewed success, but I really don?t think that either holds a candle to the Simpsons. In its prime the Simpsons was the funniest sitcom on television, and it was funny on so many levels. Not only was the show loaded with burp and fart jokes, but it also had senseless violence and obscure jokes that actually required a degree of education. Personally I think that there are several episodes of the Simpsons that cannot be touched by any television show ever.

Well, I am not really a fan of either of them.
I do watch them both about the same, but because I grow up with the Simpson?s on TV I do prefer them over the Family Guy.
It is, like you know, the Simpson?s are an old pair of shoe that just feel so comfortable, but they really just should have been trashed a long time ago. The Simpson?s are just kind of like that to me.
Plus, there is just something about Peter that ?irks? me. Not sure what it is about him that bugs me but despite that fact that I just can seem to stop watching the stupid things he does. I do think Stewie and the dog (Brian?) are really funny; the fact that they get into so much and yet no one says anything to them or even tries to make them stop.
They both got the same dysfunctional family thing going that never seems to kill their family, which is kind of cool. That kind of keeps me watching even when I rather be watching something different.

The Simpsons' best episodes are light years ahead of Family Gu's best. Their most mundane episodes are better than Family Guy's worst episodes.

That being said, the Simpsons should have been cancelled a while ago, but Fox can't let that happen because it's one of their most popular shows.

Sorry to the FG fans, but I just don't find it all that great. There were a few moments that I remember fondly, but the Simpsons produced entire seasons of some of the best TV viewing ever. Too bad its current seasons are only really hilarious once every month or two.

Let's just get this out of the way - overall, nothing can touch The Simpsons. As has been said by others, I still watch reruns of The Simpsons and I'm barely noticing some of the in-jokes and wittier humor that had been place in the episodes (for example, Moe dropping in on Homer's boxing match against Drederick Tatum wearing the giant fan was based on an actual person - I barely found that out a couple months ago @_@). The first few seasons of The Simpsons is easily lightyears ahead of anything Family Guy or even Futurama has put out...they're simply brilliant, in my opinion.

Now, in the time that Family Guy was out, I think Family Guy was better. The Simpsons was straying from what had made the show so great and was really trying to "out Family Guy" Family Guy, which really doesn't work. Family Guy has its own distinct brand of humor and The Simpsons trying to use that just felt really derivative.

However, I think that in this same timeline, Futurama was easily better than both Family Guy and The Simpsons. Futurama has a great mix of witty humor and slapstick (which isn't a surprise, since a lot of writers from The Simpsons also worked on Futurama, I believe). Some of the episodes of Futurama come surprisingly close to the quality of The Simpson's first few seasons.

While I love both cartoons for their comedic value

Family guy wins, no contest there what so ever.
"It seems today that all you see, is violence in movies, and sex on t.v."
"But where are those good old family values..."
"On which we used to rely" *Ping! can bounces off his head*

I definitely like Family Guy more than all the rest. The Simpsons, at this point, sucks way too much. And Futurama way sometimes funny, sometimes horrid. Family Guy has only a few lousy episodes, mostly because they have too much singing. I'm glad they're bringing the show back.

How can you even think about comparing the two?

Simpsons, no doubt. The original- i've been watching that show since I was a baby. No kidding.

Family Guy is hilarious, i'll give it that. Stewie rocks my socks (sorry) But absolutely NO show even compares to The Simpsons. I cant blame them for showing reruns- you cant expect them to make new episodes every day because the viewers get tired of the same episodes? Its even worse the way they're butchering Family Guy by showing the same 4 episodes almost every week on adult swim!

I may be guilty of skipping the Simpsons on purpose at 5:00 and 6:00 but that doesn't mean im not a die-hard Simps fan. No show comes close to being better than the original funny family.
