Arkadyz
Wow...Just freaking wow... This film was the definition of Film as art...It rose far above my expectations of another bland action movie. The violence is gloriously over the top and the fight scenes are top knotch. The entire end set-piece where the major action goes down is wonderful...Esp the outdoor garden where lucy's character and the birde fight, its simply beautiful looking. I loved the use of black and white aswell as the suprising anime sequence. The only problem I had with it was the annoying crowd I was surrounded with when watching it and there dumb comments...Otherwise it was a very enjoyable experience. I can hardly wait for Pt. 2 when we see daryl hannahs character go up against the bride(Oh and I loved how they bleeped out her name anytime someone said it...Very sly  )
wilder.schwein
Simply an amazing film, full of what I had wanted to see. Tarantino does an outstanding job, as usual. I was overcome with utter joy for a film of such high standards...
James
Whew, finally I can comment on this movie. I just saw it...so it's very fresh in my mind. I'll say two things right off the bat. First and foremost...I think that most people are overrating this movie. The characters and story are not nearly as fleshed-out as they could be. And there are a few pacing issues with the film. However, I do think that this movie is possibly a "visual masterpiece". Not in terms of special effects, per se, but in terms of cinematography. Most of the shots in the movie are simply amazing. The use of typography works so very well...and the way music is used at particular points (without requiring words to tell the story) is masterful. I was very impressed by the actual technical production of the movie. I was also generally impressed by the interwoven elements of old hong kong action flicks, spaghetti westerns and Matrix-esque elements. It came together well...it didn't come across as being tired or boring and instead, it felt very new and fresh. The "newness" of this movie is impressive to me, because so many movies feel stale. Even The Matrix Reloaded -- despite the fact that it is a window on an incredibly deep plot -- didn't feel "new" like the first movie. I don't blame that on special effects...I blame that on less-than-amazing cinematography and direction. In my opinion, Kill Bill proves that you don't need the most ground breaking effects. If you are good with a camera...you can move mountains. This movie proves it. (I would also say that Jenna's photography helps to prove this point as well -- her black and white stuff is gorgeous. I'm just generally very impressed by what she does with a camera.)
Emme888
Did anyone else here love Kill Bill? Alright the beginning was the crazy hot,
with Uma's character getting shot straight in the head with the whole black and white scene.
Not only that but I loved the character development!
With Lucy Lui's character's build up with the anime, and the whole fight scene and such. The blood spatter was unrealistic, but still. I loved it when Uma's character hit the 17 year old assasin in the head with the board stuck with nails! awh dang...crazy stuff.
Terintino (sp) cinemtography of this movie was beautifully done, and masterful. The way he transitied between scenes was well excuted. But however
the ending was too perfect! It's such a cliff hanger!! Come on! you have to all agree. "does she still know her daughter is alive?..." and then the end!? It left me wanting to see Kill Bill part 2 right away.
And the fight scenes with the swords were the hottest thing to drop from this movie.... but the anime was close to beating it. Cause the detail of the
deaths and the mass killings of the mob men for revenge for her parents death was awesome.
This movie was so good. A perfect 10... Go see it! future girl
I've seen the movie twice already and researched it quite a bit. As James said, the characters aren't as fleshed out as one thinks they should be, but Tarantino purposely did this. According to his interviews the first movie was to first and foremost be visually pleasing. He knows so much about his characters though, their past, present and future and supposedly the second installment of the movie is to delve deeper into the character development. I loved the movie, I thought it was very well done and acheived what it set out to conquer, but if this were just one blow with no second part I doubt I'd feel the same way. The reason I love this movie is because it leaves me lingering with anticipation for what's to come.
No
I saw this movie just last night and I absolutly loved it. Ok I know this is going to sound gross but its the truth. I had to go pee the whole time and I didn't want to leave cuz I would miss a part so I waited til the end of the movie to go. But I've heard there are 4 Volumes to the movie. Is this true or not? I am really wondering. And can NOT wait til Vol 2 comes out.
James
As far as I know, there are only two volumes of Kill Bill. The second comes out in February of next year.

Shy
I remember reading something about Tarantino considering an anime prequel to the movies, in addition to a second sequel that would deal with
some of the characters' children.
Both of them seem pretty interesting, although the anime portion of Kill Bill wasn't exactly my favorite part of the film. -Shy
James
That sounds interesting.
I want to see Copperhead's daughter grow up and get some revenge. ~_^
I, Colossus
Shy, my I ask where you heard/read this? I'm not trying to dis-credit your word or anything, but it's nice to see something official and such. As I said earlier in the thread, the anime was not bad, but it just didn't fit with the film. It seemed to just be thrown in there. A whole seperate anime flick based of Kill Bill would be great though. Sort of like the Animatrix, give us a better feel for the story.
Originally post by James
I want to see Copperhead's daughter grow up and get some revenge. ~_^

As do many. Anyway, as may be obvious by that comment, I just saw the movie. I thought it was ... weird. Pretty good, visually pleasing and all that, but weird. Of course, I expected nothing less from all I'd heard about it, so that was all right. Apparently I missed the first black and white scene, though, unfortunately ... I have a question. Did it bother anybody else how they spent like 20 minutes on Vivica A. Fox's character and practically an hour on all of Lucy Liu's minions and her? Newtype Magazine reported information on the prequel/sequel, nyeh. I wish that more time had been devoted to Vivica A. Fox's character as well, since she did an excellent job in her role. Her scenes with Uma Thurman were some of my favorite, and hopefully she will show up a few more times in the second volume. -Shy
terra
Oh yeah. I had another question as well ... Why does everybody like Go Go Yubari so much? I found her ... somewhat annoying. Amusing, but annoying. I'm not sure why ... just something about her. Anyway, I was able to see the first black and white scene I'd missed earlier, and I'm glad I did, as it did contain some very important information. :p
BabyGirl
Originally posted by terra Why does everybody like Go Go Yubari so much?
Well...it's a board full of anime fans who inadvertently love the Japanese culture. Many of them find Japanese school girls to be the most attractive things on the PLANET. So, add her pretty Asian looks, cute little school girl uniform and the fact that she can kick major butt together, and you have the recipe for instant attraction and/or awe. Hence; the obsession. I couldn't get over the fact that she was in Battle Royale, too, and she played
a sadistic school girl out for her own triumph [and life]
. The parts were similar and her hair was styled exactly the same. She didn't look any different, and she didn't act any different. Thusly, I was unimpressed with her character. It was a fun bit that was added, but I had already seen it all happen in Battle Royale :p
No
I liked Go-Go Yubari becuase of the fact that she killed the guy for wanting to do her. She didn't like it and stood up for herself and protected herself from him practically. And when you see her driving, it looks like she is drunk. I dunno, i'm just a freak like that. Oh! And, what does Bill look like. You don't ever see his face I think.
future girl
Bill looks like David Carradine...and that's probably because that's who plays him. Here's a picture of him. He used to do a Kung-foo tv show way back in the day. By the way I too thought that Vivica A. Fox did very well in her scene, I hope she gets some more air time in the second movie.

Guest rttocs77
I read the script to Kill Bill. Volume 2 is going to put everything together. I cannot wait to see how it turns out on screen and it has a
happy
ending too, which I like to see in movies. I think people got way too bitchy about the violence. The violence/gore in it was very cartoonish and not realistic at all. I hate the MPAA, but that's another thread. I don't think it tops, as a whole, Pulp Fiction. I think it is a masterpiece in its' own right though.

Hinata
Well Im sorry I don't know who Yuki is? But I had to sa that I was much empressed by the movie and I din laugh alot especially when Uma Thurman is battling all the poepl by herself. It was a great luagh throughout...and
Originally posted by Chichiri's Girl You know how the blood squirted like that? I kept expecting someone to say "it's just a flese wound".
I can't believe you brought that up cause that is exactly what I see it as now... Man that was good. But terra, I didn't mind the fact that they only spent 20 minutes on Copperhead( Vivica's chracter). I mean she was a mom who was very easy to track down. She had no guards or anything and so there for she was the least prepared as well as easiest to kill. Cuz if you think about it. When you are trying to kill those who betrayed you. Do you go after the head hancho first and get exposed, or do you work your way up getting the easiest and least likely to squeal person first. Its always good to surprise your enemies, if you can.
