I think the previous two have been the equivalent of a boxoffice hydrogen bomb. And the third shouldbe the best installment of the lot.
I'm personaly looking forward to the undead army unleashed upon the armies of darkness lead by the migthy aragorn (excuse the cheezy hero chat). Also the battle at the black gates should be good with the nazgul on their wyvern thingys actually savaging someone for a change instead of just screaming around looking menacing.

I'm looking forward to a lot of things... without getting into detail, I just expect justice to be done to the book (within reason). Based on the first two, I have little to worry about.

Based on the book and the little I know about the third film, I expect Return of the King to be the best of the three.

Of course I'm going to go see it, but I'm not looking forward to it. Number one was good, looked forward to number two, saw it once, it was ok, saw it twice, it nearly made me sick. Bad effects, too many corny lines, completely massacred Tolkien's masterpiece. I'm not looking forward to number three, but I'll see it, and I think it will be fun the first time around. I hope it's better than the last one, that's for damn sure. They had better lay off the crap humour and make better use of the fantastic literature the piece of work actually is. It's a work of art, and it's being served as if to idiots. I know it appeals to a larger audience, but please people, we're handling a masterpiece here - be careful.

I'm looking forward to better graphics from the computer images and better fight scenes and more action. I'm looking forward to the excitement. I've read the book, so I know what'll happen and I want to see how they portray it on the movie when the
hhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeelllllllllooooooooiiiiiiiiiiiaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmmgggggggeeeeeeorgeee
It's gonna be so awesome!

I agree with Ravenstorture, they do mess it up. I hate that, but I know why they do it. They want to appeal to the public with stuff they think they'll enjoy, when really they're just screwing it up. It really annoys me how they can be so ignorant.

Just like Raven...I didn't really enjoy the second movie as much as the first...I mean, the first was what it should have been--a base for the next two movies. But the second was too loaded with...useless things when the movie could've been spiraling better in its directions. Ah well.

I saw the second movie once...it was okay, I thought, but I still loved it because...hell, it's LoTR. This is the shiznit lol...as some might say. A masterpiece of a book. The one fantasy novel which shall be known for long.

Second time...I was mostly bored with it. I felt that it moved so slow...and that the humor, and just the way it was presented could've been way better managed. Plus I'm sick of all those feminities loving so gracious Legolas. Eggo my Leggo, pff.

What am I expecting? I am expecting this movie to be the best of them all.
I want to see the death of the witch king...and that (erg, can't remember names) girl that is...I believe...related to Theoden die. I also want to see Shelob in all her bitchin glory.

This is where they didn't remain nice to the books...in the second book, Frodo and Sam meet up with Shelob at the end, and The Witch King and that one gal do battle to the death of them. This was what I was really looking forward to in the second movie...but didn't get it.
I guess they just saved the best for last. They better deliver on it, too, or else I will...read the books over and over again and complain in letters of Joe Doeity of how much the second and third movies were crap on a boiling, dung-heaped stick.

That is all, ladies and gentlemen.

It sounds like you guys are expecting way too much from a film that has to compress an epic novel into two hours. It was as faithful as I think can be expected, although it obviously omitted some things and moved others so they'd actually work as movies. Some things in books just cannot be translated well, and you don't exactly want to end a film with a death either.

Good film writing and good novel writing are very different things, I'd say. I think they did well with what they could do. They have to somehow please fans of the books as well as the general movie going public... and that's not exactly an easy task.

Lord of the Rings, Return of the King, the final book. This is by far the best book out of all of them. Have any of you guys seen the trailer? its just freaking awsome

Warning, Spoilers ahead =O
I really hope the Twin of Elrond are in the movie. They're really cool, and if you go frame by frame in the trailer, you see at least two elves reforging Narsil. Now, why would they make two random Elven Smiths get screen time? Could they be the twin brothers and sons of Elrond? And if you freeze it at like 1:29, between the flash of the eye you see men of Gondor flee from Nazgul, but in the middle you see someone out of place, almost elf looking, one of the sons? Possible. And I don't think thats Aragon giving the speech to the Rohirrim, if you freeze it (once again) when they show the guy, he has the armor with the White Tree and Seven stars on this, a classic armor for the Gondorian Rangers. Too bad they're cutting the scouring of the Shire >>. Thats all I can say right now, I need to go to bed >>

Tony, of course I am going to expect way too much from a book-to-film makeover. In most cases a movie is never better than a book, but there's always exceptions, of course.

This is the way I am with almost anything; I am overly analytical and overly harsher on things than I should be. This is the way I've always been...and I myself try not to fall short of my shortcomings and exceed everything.

If you already know ahead of time that it won't exceed your expectations, then why expect so much in the first place? You're setting yourself up for disappointment, in any case.

I think they could do as well as could be expected now, or possibly ever could be. Unless someone is willing to make 6 hour versions of each book, you're out of luck lol.

I couldn't agree more. I enjoyed watching the first two movies, and I can't wait to see Return of the King. I'm particularly looking forward to
glimpsing Shelob--and, of course, the destruction of the Ring itself.... from what we've seen of Gollum so far, I expect that scene to be absolutely dazzling.
I would hopefully wish that the third part would be much more exciting than the other movies that they showed in the theatres. And they should make the events much more fun to watch.

And I wish they would make more funny part when Gollum talks to himself.

And I would be looking forward whether their going to destroy the ring or not. ^_^

Obviosly, I'm looking forward to the new Zealand Scenery first off, and then, well, I haven't read any of the three books so I'm not sure what to expect from the third movie.

I'm sure through the many interviews shown here that return of the king will be a really cool special effects , So I'm looking forward to that, and
the destruction of the ring, heh, eveyone knows they will succeed, unless they don't for some reason :(

"Who would want to be your friend, nobody like you!"
- Gollum
"Nope not listning"
-Smeagoul
"where would you be without me?!"

"Nope"

I quite liked this bit. And the synthian ofr Gollum was really well done. The actor that did the movements for gollum also did the voice so the actors for the other character had no trouble realcting realisticly.
And can you remember what gollum saye when they are camping in the swamp? Something like "You cannot see what lies ahead when moon is gone and sun is dead" ?

Ah, smeagal, the whole movie is him! and Elijah Wood and Orlando Bloom, of coarse. I tried to read the book but curse my short attention span. I read the Hobbit. The movies were great and I don't think they could have been much better. They got the sexiest guys! WOOO.. great cast pickers..

Vash's girl, you'll probably appreciate the movies a lot more if you read the books. Try reading them again sometime in the future.

Isn't it interesting how many of the cast members (Orlando Bloom in particular) were relative unknowns before LotR? And I'd say that the casting was great because they're all excellent actors.

Although it has its flaws, Gollum really made the second movie worthwhile for me. I'm excited about seeing him in Return of the King.

Plus, Aragorn leading the army of ghosts should be quite a sight.

I'm like a opium addict when it comes to LOTR, I just want more!

I love it in all ways......but I really hope they follow closer to the books then they have, yes I know they've followed rather close in the last two movies, but alot of good parts they could have had were cut :-/

But I have to say I just can't wait to see the Rotk
I really tried to read the book, I promise. I'm a huge reader but LOTR was too.. um.. descriptive. It was so long. It was like reading the 5th harry potter book 3 or 4 times.
Tolken has alot of descriptive area's where he talks about woods.

anytime they go in to the forests I just want to kill him.
