On our fan art site, in the hotbox at the bottom, please rank the following in order of how important it is for you to see on the main page:

Top 10...
(1) Highest-Rated Artists
(2) Most Prolific Artists
(3) Most Popular Anime Categories (by # of pics)
(4) Recently Updated Artists
(5) Recently Updated Anime Categories

There's limited space, so I'm debating what to put at the bottom (or should we keep what we have?)

I think these are most important, mostly because they let you keep up to date on these things... they might be slightly redundant though, considering the page already loads up thumbnails of the most recent stuff anyway. If that stays... then I'd have a harder time choosing between the top three's order.

(3) Highest-Rated Artists

This closely follows. I'd assume people interested in the ranking functions of the site will want to know this.

(4) Most Popular Anime Categories (by # of pics)

I think this is just secondary info that isn't really useful as much as it is just a statistic.

(5) Most Prolific Artists

I personally don't think this is important at all. I don't care who submitted the most art... That's me though. You could easily find this information just by finding their page through the other four lists.

If I'm looking for pictures I want to look at good images. So, this is a good one to find good pictures. Though with that method you'd never find artists that aren't awful, but aren't the best.

Yeah, if someone draws a new picture I want to know about it.

This one isn't really so important. I will have my own categories that I will look in, but overall, even if a category is updated I won't go to it just because it's been updated.

Like Semjaza said, I don't really care who drew a picture. If I'm impressed I'll go look at their profile page, but I don't want to search for pictures based on how much someone can write. But maybe that's just me ^_^;;

Again, my point's been raised already, but it's just a statistic. And it won't get me to go visit areas for an anime I'm not a fan of.

I don't know if it's already been thought of, but what about having a myOtaku aritist list? Like you've been throwing around ideas for having a friends list that lets you know when something's been updated. What about a list like that for fanart? Have a list of your favourite artists, and having some kind of method that let you know when your favourite artists have updated?

These are a great idea, IMO. First off, you get to see which animes are the most popular, and it implies that you are bound to find some good quality fanart for that particular anime.

Next, you get to know which artists are active instead of repeatedly going to their place to see if they have new art or not. That's something that should be done for myOtaku too, might I add. Yeah, some people put the latest update in their sig, but not everyone.

Call me a preacher, but I see some great artists that have just one bad picture, and that of course lowers their overall score. Then you have those people who have one picture and it is rated 100% good. If you do put "Highest-Rated Artists" in, there should definately be a 10 picture minimum.

Ummm... I don't even know what [I]most prolific artist[/I] means, so I don't think it'll do me any good. :D

Meh, it would be nice to see if some inactive anime finally got some fanart, but I don't think it's as necessary as the other two.

This would basically help to separate the good from the bad. My only worry is that new artists might not have as much of a chance to get seen.

Just useful to know.

4) Most popular anime categories
5) Most prolific artists

I don't really care about these last two... particularly 'most prolific artists.' When it comes to art, most people look for quality, not quantity.

The only ones that I would bother to look at are [b]Highest Rated Artist[/b] or [b]Recently Updated Anime Categories[/b]. I don't like [b]Most Prolific Artist[/b] at all because most of the people who are at the top of that list just have 50 bad pictures instead of 10 good ones.

I like how, on Deviant Art, you can pick your recent favorites of others' work on your page and it shows a thumbnail of the most recent one. That would be so great, Adam, if you could do this for us. :)
